Thanks, this is good stuff. Have you considered a video discussing classic blunders?

Great idea! I'll add it to my list! I have a great game to demonstrate one...

One thing you didn't mention was the possibility of bringing Gandalf the White into play in Woodland Realm. Most of the shadow leadership in the north can be negated with him, and he can bring the Book of Grudges to Erebor too. A reclaiming army from Carrock would also benefit from a companion like him. Just don't leave him in Woodland Realm to get trapped and killed with the 2 units there, reinforce them or get out!

Great overview of that theater of war. I would stress the importance to having one or even two companions there as the Free, that makes it so much harder for the Shadow. To help with that, if I see the Shadow attacking DEW as the Free, I consider moving the FSP over the High Pass instead of through Moria (when a reveal forces their location), just so I can more easily get a companion there.

Interesting, because my approach is to try to avoid taking the High Pass and Old Forest Road with the FSP when DEW gets attacked, because of the hunt re-rolls SP would get from units/Nazgul there. But yes, a companion there is great, especially when brought in with There and Back Again.

Great discussion! My sense is that a single companion alone doesn't make a huge difference, but supported by a few extra regulars, they can significantly increase survivability. I typically wouldn't separate a companion just to defend the stronghold unless I had some combination of:
      - A character card to separate them that I can play with a P die, especially if Gandalf lets me redraw the card.
      - A whole lot of C dice on that turn and a lot of eyes in the pool, so I don't want to move too many times this turn
      - A way to generate extra musters either via companion ability (e.g. Legolas in Woodland Realm) or via a card (Book of Mazarbul, There and Back Again) AND at least one muster action that I can use prior to the stronghold being besieged
      - Card-based reinforcements (e.g. Thranduil's Archers)
My decision to take High Pass vs. Moria would primarily be dictated by getting revealed through Moria or not, and/or The Balrog in play.
But, I'm not sure I'm right about any/all of that, and I welcome the discussion and your insights! :)

You spell dol guldur wrong. It is emphasized on the second "u". Cool video btw.
