this is exactly what I was looking for, appreciate it man.
Verry nice Mic and Setup! Thank you, it helped me a lot :)
It sounds like a great mic I'm thinking about picking up one. Great review
Cheers mate! This is the exact info I was searching for. Glad I got myself a Cloudlifter now.
I bet you’re loving it man!
@@RAVisuals yeah mate! Once I fiddled about with the mic’s position and moved bits of my set up around, the difference was amazing. I don’t get why some people say you don’t need a Cloudlifter. It’s improved my mic set up 100 percent. I was thinking about getting the Sure mic, but there’s no need now. Great channel btw mate. Keep up the good work, J.
Thanks for this video! I am currently using the Podmic with a Behringer Xenyx 302. And I've finally decided to upgrade to the Scarlett Solo and I have ordered a Tonor cloud lifter as the one in this video was a little out of my budget...I'll update this comment after I tested it! Thanks again for the great video, you earned a sub from me!
Wow Wow Wow!!!!! Dude you are the ABSOLUTE GREATEST person on UA-cam to EVER explain this to me!! What an unbelievable change just that simple compressor explanation at 14:00 minutes made to our audio. Truly appreciate you man!! I have this page bookmarked and we are Subscribing👍👍👍
I have no idea how I missed this comment but thank you so much for the kind words man! 🙌🏼
I've watched so many of your set up videos. I have the blue yeti and tonor boom arm, I have a standing desk from autonomous, and I started streaming and picking up steam so now I'm buying this exact set up with my first twitch check! Thank you, Ricky. I'd be so lost without you.
Dude! So awesome to read this. I’m so stoked I’ve been able to help you. Exactly why I started this channel!
great video the cloudlifter and no cloudliftrer really makes a difference
Great video here man. I love your personality!
Thanks so much man! Means a lot 🙏
Aahhhh so close! It is tuesday today! Great video.
So close!
Fantastic video
Great channel man
Thank you!
Awesome video!
Thank you sir!
Thank you !!! Great video you are a life-saver!
no problem!
I have the exact same mic setup, works great! Nice video and summary with good examples.
Thanks a ton man! Same, love this setup
great video thanks :)
I got the cloud lifter, focusrite, and rode pod mic...my cloud lifter is plugged in and im not seeing any gain levels appear on my focus rite...any tips and suggestions. Maybe Im forgetting a step...i thought it would just work as soon as everything is plugged in
Great vid helping me with my podmic audio. Since you helped me, I got a bit of advice for you. Upgrade those Panda switches to some Durock t1 sunflowers. Greatest switch there is, if you lube the switch, only touch the slider and spring.
Thanks for the tips! I've never tried those switches so I might have to add them to the collection!
Ive just picked up the pod mic and im using it with the roland bridge cast and like yourself i can hear a low buzz or hum. if you turn your video audio up during the silent moments you can hear it.
any idea what it is? cheers
Hi there, were you using the focusrite solo drivers, or windows default?
Does the cloudlifter helps for loud vocals (singing) using beyerdynamic dynamic mics?
which sample rate and buffer size are you using?
You helped me a lot thank you so much! Thought I made a regrettable purchase
Glad I could help!
ME too
Hey i have a question, if im using the rode podmic, that actually doesn´t require phantom power do i need to activate phantom p to use the cloud lifter?
Yes because the cloudlifter requires phantom power to work
What about noise Supression etc? does that give worse quality?
do you reccomend the klark teknik ct 1 as preamp?
The thumbnail is making wanna faint its that pretty and I haven't even watched the video yet xD
As a beginner streamer it seems like goxlr mini is a better option than cloudlifter + scarlett solo. You will have much options on mini such as external audio sources, routing, line out (which is usefull to connect your audio interface to atem mini to avoid sync issues) and you dont need a cloudlifter because mini’s preamp can handle dynamic mics like superquite shure sm7b. Also it is a cheaper than this setup.
Thanks for sharing! I hear you for sure! Its actually the same price though (goxlr mini - $250) (Scarlett solo -$100, Cloudlifter-$150) also I already had the scarlett solo so it made more sense for me to just get the cloud lifter and add it to my setup. The goxlr mini has been in and out of stock lately too so its harder to find. You could go with either setup and be fine though!
U are sooo underrated
well get there!
I am a new beginner late bloomer of live streaming. I recently purchased a Rode Podmic not realizing that i need an interface and possible cloud lifter to push the mic. Not to mention the cable, stand, and or boom arm. Thank you for sharing.
no worries! I hope it helped you out!
Thanks for this video because I am looking to buy one soon. Also can I use the interface on a phone or tablet as I correctly. Thanks
Yes you can! It connects via usb-c and has a usb-1 adapter as well
@@RAVisuals thanks so much. This is a very clear review.
why you open 48v after you connected the cloudlifter? i know that 48V is for condenser mic?
yes, the cloudlifter requires 48v phantom power
Question how do you record your videos? Through a camera? I have a canon camera that I want to use to make my videos.
yes, I record with a Sony A7iii
How do you monitor your microphone audio when streaming with this mic and a Scarlett interface? I have a similar setup but I don’t like plugging my headphones directly into the Scarlett I prefer a gaming headset but if I monitor my voice in OBS I get a delay. Any help is appreciated! I am new to streaming but I do not understand what audio is playing in the streamer’s(not audience) headset.
I never monitor my audio in my headset. That would be so disorienting for me! I just look at my levels in OBS to make sure im not clipping. If I need to hear myself, I just monitor through the interface or I record a bit in OBS and play it back
@@RAVisuals thank you! This has always been confusing to me! Appreciate your reply and keep up the awesome work!😁
If your gaming headset has a normal 3.5mm connector then you can get a 3.5mm to 1/4 inch adapter and connect it to the Scarlett for direct monitoring, but if you're using a USB headset then unfortunately there's no way to completely get rid of the delay. The downside of this is that any mic/inline controls on your headset won't work but you're using an XLR mic anyway so it shouldn't be an issue.
1) If i want to record my voice for gaming videos without steaming, do i need OBS? 2) how do i record my voice with focus rite software, or what other software can i use? 3) also why windows doesn't detect the podmic as a microphone and premiere wont record my voice?
Hi, I've already got the Rode Podcast Mixer, I just needed to get a Microphone, will I need the audio interface, or can I just buy the Rode Podmic and connect it straight it. On the podcast mixer, it does come with an option for Phantom power. Hope you can help?
You will be good to go with just buyng the mic!
@@RAVisuals do I need to activate phantom power or not?
Great video, it really helped me out a lot bec my old mic is dying right now haha Does smb has any experiene with cheap mic activators such as the "Klark Teknik Mic Booster Cm-1"? I dont think I can afford 150 for a cloudlifter or 100 bucks for a fethead
I haven't used the cheaper ones but I'm sure they still give a good result
I love the filter you use on your footage. That cinematic classic sepia thing. Would you share with us how you do it man? Thanks heaps.
Its a LUT I use that has a pretty heavy S curve and lots of contrast. haha
@@RAVisuals Awesome man, it looks super cinematographic.
I'd like to use this setup for google hangout video calls, but I've noticed a hugeeee latency from the movement of my mouth to the audio. Any tips for live video/audio?
Ive never had any latency issues with mine at all. what program are you using to monitor it? it may just be the software
Is there enough noise gate tweaking to eliminate the keyboard all together?
yep! you cant even hear mine with my OBS settings
I just ordered one of these mics! I'm not gonna use a physical mixer since I don't stream but I think I'm gonna end up buying a cloudlifter or fethead if it ends up being too quiet.
It sounds so much more bassy with the cloudlifter! youll love it
When the doves cry.......great video
Thanks mate,, can you use it straight to zoom without interface?
this is an XLR mic so you'll need an interface to connect it to your PC
Might have to get it smaller than blue yeti
it sounds wayyyy better too
That’s an epic thumbnail!! Can you show us how you did it?
sure! Maybe ill make a video tutorial on something like this!
I have a pod mic and I feed it directly to 3.5mm. You actually don’t need anything else. It is a bit quiet but you can turn it up a bit. And if you equalize on your Pc it will take out any buzzing.
Hi, nice video! , can i use the podmic with a behringer Um2 ?
Is that an audio interface? If so, I'm sure you can!
I’m a beginner and I’m glad that I had watched this video because I have the podmic and the Scarlett 2i2 2nd Generation so I hope that your setting will work with the 2nd generation Scarlett because I want to hear how it will sound through my silver Rokit KRK Biamp monitors
Thanks for watching Marc! I hope you get it sounding crispy!
@@RAVisuals thanks I had just got me a liked New used Sony NEX 7 camera with 2 batteries a charger with the lens for $300
What do you do If you want two mic… what additional things will I need?
you'll need an interface with multiple inputs. Just grab the larger version of the Scarlett or any other interface you want to use!
@@RAVisuals perfect thank yoh
Pretty sure you can use it without an interface by using a usb cable
I just got this mic!!!!! now i need to get the xlr cable, audio interface and a mic stand 😆
Its very good!
Excellent video, I guess the next thing on my wishlist is a cloudlifter lmao.
Thanks so much! Yeah, its such a good mic!
@@RAVisuals Also, I was looking into cheaper inline preamp alternatives since it's quite a hefty pricetag. Have you had any experience with ones other than the cloudlifter at a lower price point that you would recommend?
@@nikkitomb i dont use a cloud lifter and my podmic sounds awsome use a mixer from behringer
@@lumoshardkiller6737 I bought a coda music inline preamp, works just as good as the cloudlifter for half the price. Then I run it through a Scarlett solo then into my PC. Works great.
thanks man you did a big help, i'm having the same setup but without cloudlifter and i was going insane because that all way up gain knob and it was picking everything behind me and i thought i was scammed 🤣
and now, shit i think i need a 149$ cloudlifter!
I know I am late to the discussion but I ended up buying a 50 dollar fethead, instead of a cloudlifter, and works just as well!
The total amount you spent here is similar when getting Shure Sm7, you don't need to get audio interface and the quality is much better.
That's true if you're going to use the Sm7 without an XLR cable and interface. If you use it with an XLR, its double the price of the Podmic. It really depends on what a user wants to do with them!
@@RAVisuals yep, i'm stupid it should be the Shure MV7 haha. Do you think other companies will foolow their foot steps?
I mean, mic companies will start making products supported by apps but almost similar result with XLR. It's cheaper and more user friendly. Love to hear your thoughts. Keep it up, love the channel.
scarlett 8:03 \ scarlett + cloud lifter 10:12
I think theres actually more static in the scarlett+cloud lifter but then again you have it turned up a little louder..
you think so? I think it sounds so much better with the combo!
sounds the same to me, im only listening to airpods tho ✌️
I watched this on a monday lol
very nice!!
Triton Fethead can do the same for much cheaper than Cloudlifter though.
Awesome!
do i need to buy the cloud lifter
you don't have to, I just personally think it helps the low end of this mic and also keeps noise levels down when increasing the gain
@@RAVisuals thank you
ngl i didnt notice any background noise without cloudlifter lol
With and without the cloudlifter sounded exactly the same tbh'
If you buy the sE dm1it supplies 28 more gain, and you won’t need an extra cable
I actually use a mixer now and it supplies plenty as well!
bro is beautiful
I think I’m first 😂😂
yep😂
save your money Klark Teknik Mic Booster Cm-1 or CT-1 20-30 USD retail, same gain same noise level no difference with cloudlifter - why pay more?
There's always other options! this is just what I went with
I feel terrible I can't tell the difference between the podmic by itself vs with the cloudlifter.
It’s a lot more apparent with headphones. You can tell the sound floor is a lot different and it makes a huge difference to not have to turn the gain up so high
Man, the music is sooo loud, this will turn a llot if people off your videos, chillout on the music your videos are good
Thanks for the feedback man! I always have the music set at -28db in my videos so it shouldn’t be loud at all. But if it is, maybe I need to turn it even lower
@@RAVisuals maybe on headphones you dont hear it that much, but in an iphone phone speaker the music is loud and distracting from what you are saying, try to listen to it on different devices and see the results, your videos are great quality you dont need that much music goingon.
what you have shown in this video is simply wrong. the only reason to use a cloud lifter is if your sound capture device does not have enough gain to boost the signal and you want to add more or it introduce a high noise floor. this has nothing to do with background noise of your room. the dynamics of the capsule and its design is what determine the room noise per gain db i.e. sensetivity. adding gain with cloud lifter instead of the focusrite gain just suggest that the preamps of the focusrite floor noise is higher then of the cloudlifter. but again it has nothing to do with sound of your room.
I appreciate you pointing this out. I think I might have phrased some of it a little weird but the main point of the video is exactly what you said in your first sentence. I decided to go with the cloud lifter to introduce more gain without increasing my sound floor. Everyone has the choice to use what they want, of course. THis is just what I went with and I like the sound I get.
@@RAVisuals so what you’re saying is that the cloudlifter has a lower noise floor then fr ? Good to know. Thanks.
Podmic’s high freq is too much for me
Yeah, it’s a preference for sure. That’s why I always have to add more low end to my mix
I dont hear any difference
