- How to create Batik crackle effect
Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique established in many parts of the world such as Indonesia, India, Persia. The wax resists technique works greatest on silk and cotton fiber. Wax is used as a resist to create designs on fabric. Tjanting and tjap are the devices traditionally used for spread over wax onto the textile. Many waxes are toxic, today I use Soy wax which is non-toxic nature makes it the best applicant for a safe working atmosphere.
When it cools down the stiff fabric, the material able to use it for stenciling, stamping, dipped or to fold to achieve the creative surface design.
Soy wax can be removed by ironing
Materials
A. Tjanting, Tjap, or brushes
B. soy wax
C. An electric pot for melting the wax
D. Fabric silk, cotton
F. Acid dye solution or Fibre Reactive Dye solution
G. old newspaper for ironing
In this episode, I use a Batik crackle effect. I paint the whole scarf with a big brush applying the soy wax on both sides. After dry the wax, I crunch the fabric to achieve the crackle effect. When it cools down the stiff fabric, the material able to use it for stenciling, stamping, dipped or to fold to achieve the creative surface design.

thank you for a wonderfully informative video i must try this for myself some time
Estou encantada 😍🤩
Nice...a question about the dye used. Does it run (wash off) once washed? If so, what did you use to fix it so it won't run? Thank you.
Do u use beeswax or candle wax,and then iron it off or dip it into dyes like procion and soda ash?
Gorgeous!
Hi and thank you for sharing your video and process! I have a recommendation based on a few questions below that lead to some confusion. Some people asked what ink you were using. This is Procion H fiber reactive dye for G&S , correct? If so, try to use the word "dye", instead of "ink" in case you do another dye video. Thanks
I cannot wait to try this! Thank you for awesome video
It's beautiful!!!
Are you a foreigner ? I love your accent.. I know how to do batik and i love the crackle it gives i work with beeswax but it comes off rather hard to do.. with soy wax is so much easier to get it off in hot boiling water. crunch it up and place into boil water..with the pricion dyes or gs dyes.. too. then take it afterwards with cold water to remove the color for a bit then iron the silk or steam it.
Que buena tecnica y quedó hermoso!!
love it👏👏👏👏
