I've always enjoyed GTA 5 growing up and still have fond memories of it but having replayed Max Payne 3 it's such a more enjoyable shooter than GTA 5 ever was. They basically (almost) perfected third person shooter mechanics, so it still baffles me how they just completely watered the same mechanics down for GTA 5. Hopefully they plan to implement and improve upon on Max Payne 3's gunplay in GTA 6 because it'll make the game a masterpiece.
@@amthenewgamer if you can't handle the clunk you'll never learn how to funk, now get in my trunk, we are about to throw out the junk, now you just got punked, you are gay.
Although it is a third person shooter, I think Max Payne 3 does a solid job at gunplay. The ability to carry 3 weapons at a time (2 handguns and a two handed weapon), armored enemies will take a substantial amount of bullets on the torso before going down, reaction of npcs to the bullets, their continuous bleeding because of a few wounds leading to the death, etc. But having those elements in an open world might not be the best idea and RDR 2 does a good job at providing a base to the mechanic.
Honestly I wouldn't consider the gta games to have poor gunplay, they're fine and get the job well enough that I never dread when a shooting section comes up. Although everyone seems to forget that gta 5 wasn't the first game Rockstar made where you could carry all guns at once, rdr 1 did it first. You could carry all rifles, shotguns and handguns at once without issue. And the limited weapon system in the earlier gta games honestly didn't make much difference because gun progression has always been linear, what's the point of going back to a micro smg when the mp5 is better? Same goes for rdr2, seeing guns strapped on your back is cool and increases immersion but let's be real, it's a damn easy game. You can finish the game comfortably with the starting pistol and rifle if you really wanted to and ammo is plentiful throughout the game so it's not like you're gonna be using your handgun to save ammo. As cool as the revolvers are, there's never much reason to use them when a rifle and a shotgun do the job better, even with limited weapon space it just boils down to which gun you like using more. And rdr1 also had precise shooting and Max Payne 3 did before, so I don't get why people act like 5 suddenly did it first. And this is subjective but I've always found rdr2 to have clunky gameplay at times, I felt like I was actively trying to fight Arthur for control because he simply wouldn't go where I wanted him to, and I'm definitely not alone on this, there's people all over the internet saying the game is clunky. And very unpopular opinion here but I think gta 5 does have some of the best movement Rockstar has implemented in thier games, alongside with Max Payne 3.
While i was kinda glad that guns had customization, i was bummed that the sweeper shotgun had a much slower fire rate and a lame sound effect compared to gta 4 tlad, and some enemies are bullet sponges
I think rockstar made so much research thanks to gta games and rdr so they can squeeze the best of them into gta6. Like realistic but not frustrating movement. Gunplay inspired with rdr. Immersion maxed out. Hopefully weapon balance will be better so you should actually think about gear you want to take on a mission. Like not taking rifles in the city mission because it’s suspicious and be forced to hide a pistol in pants you know. Anyways it’s just a quick thought. Good day to everyone reading this ❤
I can deal with most changes but don't add car fuel system or force very limited(3 or 4 guns)weapon system. Also not every realistic change is good. This is still a video game and should focus on fun instead of realism.

Because its a vast open world experience where you can do dumb fun. People shouldn't have to abide by your script standards of what perfect game in order to enjoy it.
Yeah In GTA5 the guns feel very a bit non impactful, it feels and sounds like your shooting hard blanks at people, lack of recoil and sound design. It’s not necessarly bad (to me the “worst” feeling gunplay I’ve ever played in a triple A game has to be farcry 5’s gunplay, shooting enemies feels completely weightless), but not as good as GTA4’s.
The animations , design , shot feel , sound effects , they all suck .They feel so boring to shoot .Why play GTA V for anything other than the driving and flying ? .The idea of shooting in that game feels like a chore .
People who say GTA 4 gunplay is good is so wrong lmao It's so clunky and slow to use to the point it's just annoying lol GTA 5 improved it in every way except for sound design.
@@matushka__ STFU 🙄, GTA has never been about shooting guns, it's always been about player freedom to approach missions however they seem fit, rockstar has never focused on gunplay because it's about cars and open world. Gunplay was still fun, it's just RD2 without gibs, the reason people still play GTAV is because it runs relatively well on older hardware and the driving is satisfying to master.

Gunplay in GTA is terrible because the controls, animations and overall feel of the gameplay is so slow and sluggish that it makes combat extremely stiff. It's a signum of Rockstar to make their games so heavy and boring to control. RDR2 is in fact, as stated, better but it wasn't until Red Dead Online where they sped up the gameplay that it felt really good and for the first time; responsive.
