    Do away with the charter system completely. NASCAR and the tracks need to work together to significantly increase the payout for the races. This way revenue to the teams is earned through performance and it helps to promote competition.
    Charters are stunting growth because new teams can’t come into the sport unless they have one. How many races do we see now where there’s only 36 cars showing up to the track each week? I miss the days where 52 teams used to show up for 43 spots. Your spot in the field should never be guaranteed just because you have a “charter”.

    • @RogerBates7
      @RogerBates7 Місяць тому +1

      You make fair points here, but I think it's important to understand that there are other factors in play. The days of fielding 43 cars for races (let alone more than that attempting) are probably a distant memory anyhow because of what it costs to race these days.

      @@JackLikesTrackhouse I think it is feasible if they did a short track series in SLM instead of these nexgen pos cars. Look at what Lucas Oil and WoO has accomplished since the cup racing has gone so sour. No asphalt SLM series has even got close to Lucus or WoO popularity. It would work if you bring the stars from cup to race 24 to 28 cars on a 3/8 to 1/2 track. There are so many tracks in that size range that are under utilized. Due to more track/promoter options it allows this proposed series to get the best possible deals year in and year out. I know on the dirt side it cost a winning team 1 to 2 million to run a SLM a year. SLM on short tracks are just as fast if not faster then the nexgen car for anyone that wants to make the argument that SLM is slower then Cup. Yes, I'm aware that the purses and sponsorship deals would bring less money. But when you move to a car that cost 1/10th to run on a annual basis it leaves a lot of wiggle room.

This helps to make each race a standalone big deal in and of itself again and allows teams to do the cost benefit analysis of races. They can then say hey come race or get nothing. Oh and we are back to open entry, fastest 40 take to the track on raceday.
      Will this hurt the sport yes. Will there be a split, possibly. Should the fans be upset... Probably not. Bunch of big spenders on both sides who haven't advocated for fans in well over a decade as the on track and of track experience has eroded or been modified beyond recognition.

      I still watch but I'm finding it hard to root for new drivers. My driver is struggling and getting towards the end of his career. There are few incentives for me to watch trucks or Xfinity since cup drivers rarely compete there anymore, and furthermore it has been a long time since we've seen someone work their way up the ranks and be able to translate from Xfinity and immediately be competitive in cup. Part of that is the lack of cup regulars and some of that is the vast difference in the cars they run now. Joey Logano is the last driver I can think of who had Xfinity (Nationwide) success and immediately had cup success. Ty Gibbs showed promise but he's still waiting for his first win a year later.
      Then you throw in the convoluted charter system, "putting the stock back in stock car" but not really, or doing everything to the cars to try and improve the racing EXCEPT increase HP again even though they're using the same engines that made 900 HP.

    Ok, NASCAR has existed since the 1950s. Now in the past 10-12 years the teams are suddenly losing money, got to have guarantees, want a firm percentage of the external revenue stream, want equity in their business model, were given a charter and "the teams" have placed market value on it not NASCAR. What did they do before from 1950-2000. Seems like there were always plenty of teams to show up and qualify for a race. Now its impossible for anyone to show up and race unless you own a charter. Kind of stiffles competition dont it. Maybe they need to get out of the Taj Mahals and go back to working in simple garages like they used to

We should go back to the days where every car has a few of the same sponsor logos on every car. Bring back Pepsi and throw Pepsi or Coke on every car. Stuff like that. Share the revenue and share the power. Create a balance system where NASCAR agrees to pay the basic costs for teams as long as they make their sponsorship amount/quota/revenue. This would cause teams to go after even more sponsorship and could bring more money into the sport. This all starts with getting a main sponsor for the cup series again. If every team wouldn't show up to the Daytona 500. Nascar would get the message loud and clear.

    I sense that the rta mat boycott some events if this agreement expires and a new one is not reached

      My prediction is they’ll boycott the Clash next year (which will likely be at Bowman Gray next year which is right near most of their shops) and will skip out on most of the pre-500 stuff to get their message across, then a deal eventually gets worked out pre-500, the Speedweek schedule gets screwed up and both sides are annoyed but glad it’s over

    I mean calling it a negotiation is silly. Nascar is going to make an offer. Take it or leave it.
