- Matt takes a trip back to the nineties, driving the Ferrari F355 GTS. A special car in its own right, but with this one being fitted with a Capristo exhaust... it's a treat for the ears too. Get your sound up!

This is a very well made video of a superb car.
Cheers Jay, glad you enjoyed it 🙌🏻
It was brilliant. The sound through headphones was soul stirring.
And your videos about 355 are just sensational!
Better looking than most current cars
And now you've done your very own! ua-cam.com/video/We9N_qq0gsM/v-deo.html
Half the power and 10x the sound...oh god that noise gives me goosebumps
Who needs 600hp when you have that noise 😍
Yeah dude
@@scd Some people on the internet's are saying on the resent C8 Z06 launch control video that the C8 Z06 sounds like the 355, what's your take, have you listened, if you haven't I'll wait for your response.
@@gen1c8rs88 the engine is a masterpiece in the new Corvette, sounds fantastic too. 👌
1 - The cinematography is sublime
2 - The car is everything
3 - The sound is symphonic
4 - A brilliant summary of what these cars are about
I’ve stopped going to ‘car meets’ as people veer towards ‘what’s the most expensive’ or, full of people who’ve all the money but no taste (ie - new Lamborghinis in fluorescent colours and equally awful interiors etc etc) my F355 sits quietly in the corner
I’m not a rich guy - I’ve saved long and hard for my car. I don’t have a big garage, so my wife’s stuff shares the space - lots of stuff stored in front of it, to the side of it and even the lighter stuff on top of it. It takes me 30 - 40mins to get my car out - so when I do, it’s because I miss driving it and all the hard work makes it that lil bit sweeter 😎
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply 🙌
How are you finding maintenance costs?
@@BuddhaSunn to be honest - I’m not on top of maintenance right now. But a major service here in the UK alongside getting some nightly bits done too only cost me £2100 or something like that. We have recently had twins so I’m not getting out in it so much
My brother, a wealthy self-made man, had one in bright yellow. Used to go shopping to Tesco with his husky on the seat beside him. Glorious, glorious car.
Wedge with the perfect amount of slight curve. Thank you, Pininfarina.
The 355 has been my favourite car ever since I was a teenager, I still drop my jaw and gasp every time I see one, be it on TV, in a magazine or in the flesh, the best looking car I've ever seen to date. Thanks for sharing 👍
Same here!
Me too! I still have a poster of it on my wall. Best sounding V8 ever. *We need more 5 valve cars*
@ Neil Milner I agree this is what I thought a ferrari was when I was growing up this Ferrari was just the best car ever created to me besides my aunt Silvia's 1980 something porsche I used to love visiting that woman in Malibu
Im a simple man, I see F355 I press like!
Thanks buddy!
I remember the Performance Car mag review of this machine when it came out. The headline was: 'Ferrari's £84,000 Bargain'.
Just one of the prettiest and most glorious cars of all time.
The sound it makes is absolutely gorgeous!
Sublime isn’t it?
Stunning! 6:46
Crossplane note on flatplane engine
These 5 valve per cylinder cars have a unique sound. Let's not forget why the f355 was such a success though, it was down to two things, firstly how disappointing the 348 was, but more importantly, how the 1990 NSX massively showed up Ferrari. Honda forced Ferrari to pull their finger out.
Great comment, very insightful and interesting! Yes the Acura NSX was a sensation when it came out. The exotic cars of the day were not very good quality. The NSX changed the game with excellent build quality, Honda reliability, and were easy to live with. Then they added amazing handling, exotic looks, and a great engine to produce a true legend. I was obsessed with the NSX. The first time I saw one in person was in 1994. It was parked on a residential street in Los Angeles. It was glorious! My friend and I stood around for probably 15 minutes just looking at it from every angle and drinking in how wonderful it was in every way. Ferrari got complacent with the 348 and the NSX is at least partly responsible for how truly glorious the 355 is.
Where was their finger? haha
@@jonasbaine3538 😆
@@aaronneal3873 the NSX did not have a better interior than the 348, far from it, but everything else was technically superior, humiliating in fact. It really was one of the best things to happen to Ferrari!
History has been rewritten on the 348. The initial reviews were in fact very positive, which caused huge demand, and a waiting queue of up to six years. So it wasn’t a disappointment at all. The early cars did have issues (consequently fixed), a story which was later embellished by Di Montezemolo, the new CEO of Ferrari and the man who tried to sell the F355 as a completely new car, even though it was in fact a reworked 348.
This era of Ferrari, and for their part, the Porsche 930 editions, to me were the pinnacle, and have yet to be surpassed in beauty and design.
I remember the original test video of the 355 by Jeremy Clarkson on top gear. He described it as the best car he had ever driven at the time and subsequently went out and bought one. I’ve loved it ever since. It’s an incredibly simple, beautiful design. Thanks for the brilliant video.
Well said! Thanks for watching.
If my mother, had played the sound of this car continually before I was born? I'd be a 3X formula 1 champion by now!
Damn this Ferrari may be the best sounding road Ferrari of all time!
That first clip made me go- that IS the sound of the nineties
It really is!
Even now, this and the F40 are still my favorites. Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Seconded. When I was a youth these were my poster cars.
Great car. I hired a 355 for a weekend trip to Dorset in the early 2000s and loved it. More engaging that the modern equivalent and sounds so much better than any turbo charged motor.
Yes!!!! Love my 355 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Best sounding car, EVER!
It sure is!
This and the F40 are perfection! Who cares if it’s not as fast as the new ones, must be 10 times more fun.
I love that the F355 offers a middleground between the somewhat dainty small Ferraris of the 70s and early 80s with their slats and thin bodywork creases and the bolder and more aggressive, sometimes overcomplicated designs of the 2000s and 2010s. It´s compact with a very clean, elegant yet dynamic design language.
I remember a spirited drive behind a 355 Spider in my Boxster S back in 2006 over the Moors by Menwith Hill in North Yorkshire. What a sound and view. Great classic modern day Ferrari..
You don’t forget those moments do you!
@@scd never..👍👍
That was in TdF Blue with Crema interior. Lovely spec..😍
What a wonderful Sound!!! Thanks a Lot for This Video.
355 becoming the perfect car for UK roads exactly as you said, don't need more than 400bhp! always loved these.
Most definitely! You can use it all
That does sound bloody good😎
5:10 - heaven to my ears, thank me later.
Folk will be on Piston heads tonight....nicely done Matt👍😎🏎
Hope so!
Agree with JayEmm really cool filming, and that sound, Wowzer!! 👍👍
Thanks 🙏
What a dream. The best looking car made in my lifetime. The first Ferrari I ever had a ride in and the first one on my list...in this spec too. Utterly perfect. If the ownership/maintenance wasn’t so expensive, it would be in the garage already!
When this car is running, it sounds amazing!
clever
Not everybody can make a V8 sound like that and hit 8800 rpm. Imagine the lives these Powerplants live.
Sending out my best wishes to Matt, Jonty and all your filming crew. You have done it again guys!
Much appreciated!
One of the best sounding V8 Ferraris ever
MY TRUE DREAM CAR...will buy this over a 360,430,458 or any other models ABOVE.
Damn that sound gave me goosebumps throughout the video. Great job guys!
Pop up headlights really need to comeback.
As the owner of both an F355 and 328, I can categorically say, no they really don't😀
They look awesome, but are troublesome, create more drag than putting a barn door on the roof, and due to their nature, they often fail to illuminate the road properly lol.
@@AB-80X Yeah well that's what you get for having italian eletrical in your car. Japanese ones work just fine 30-40 years later.
@@thomaschristopherwhite9043 ? So Japanese cars use pop up headlights in the year 2027? Odd.
It has nothing to do with the electricals. It's simply down to how the lights project. This was an issue for several cars with pup-up headlights, including the MX-5 and other Japanese cars.
@@AB-80X Dude if you think they're gonna make pop headlights the same way they made it back in the day then I don't know where you've been. Even traditional shoe making and watch making aren't made the same way. Why care about aero when everything now a days is fast as shit.
Hyundais are blowing things off the highway. That's the world we live in today.
You don't think they can't make pop up headlights that are more reliable, watertight, and with better illumination? With all the LED's in the world you think they can't? Do you still have a rotary phone or something?
One day I hope I'll own one of these, my absolute favourite car of all time, that sound oh my god
Good luck to you! Me, I'll have to settle with my 1/18 diecast model of this car haha.
Now is the time. You can still pick up an F1 version for relatively cheap.
My teenage poster car! Still looks and sounds beautiful! Great cinematography & review 👏
Glad you liked it!
Fantastic, what a sound. And the lines are so simple, just gorgeous.
F355, 275GTB, 575 M, F40... beautiful cars, nice sounds :perfect Ferrari.
Man that sounds UH-MAY-ZING!!! 🔥
This is EASILY one of the best sounding exhausts we sell. Mega video lads!
Glad you like it!
Three things come to mind after enjoying this great video:
1) well done!
2) that Blu Pozzi livery is stunning
3) I wish journalists would stop bashing the F1 gearbox and the 348. It’s getting really old. I currently own a ‘92 348ts, a ‘94 F355 GTS (manual) and a ‘98 355 spider (F1). I love them all equally because they all offer a different driving experience.
Agree F1 is amazing in its own right. Having owned both manual and F1 355’s. The car in the video is Le Mans Blue. Stunning colour.
Thanks! And yes our 348 comments are not based off personal experiences
Absolutely agree, our 1999 F1 is a marvel to drive, and we have it since 2003 . And yes we’ve owned and driven several manuals. Both amazing in their own way.
MY EARS FEEL BLESSED. THANKS MATE
Thanks for another cracking video Matt. What a sound that thing makes!!!! 😜
The best sounding car in the world
It’s the 2nd best....the 1st is the Pagani Zonda Cinque 😉
Nope guys it's the Carrera gt the best sounding car of all time
What other 90s icons would you like to see featured on the channel? 👇
993 Porsche GT2 might be a great choice, I love those bolted on flared fenders...
F50 with a Seca Sports exhaust. Or a 512m. 92 NSX-R
911 GT1 or CLK GTR
@@Mvrk63 Elise GT1
Any members with an EB110?
Another lovely video. I remember seeing movie The rock with Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage? That car chase with Ferrari 355 and Hummer H1 is epic!
I would have loved to have heard that in Winnats Pass.
It sounded epic!!
I think I may have suffered 70% hearing loss as a result of this video. But it's worth it for that sound.
😂 that’s the spirit
Still one of my favourite cars of all time. Utterly superb video. Thanks
Best sounding car ever made
Nope it's the Carrera gt
@@carexotics415 LFA > CGT it’s not even close
It's an F1 NA V10 Can anything defeat it ??
I'd vote Ferrari F50
Ferrari f355 looks and sounds amazing. My favourite all time car👍
Can't help but picture the fast and furious scene when I see a 355
Such a stunning car still to this day
Ageing very well
It’s amazing what can be achieved on a production budget nowhere near a major broadcaster.
This video is slick as hell, really well done!
I only have lovely and beautiful memories of my father's red F355 GTS mk1 with red top. So smooth, so sleek. I remember turning it on in the garage just to keep the engine clean... 💞 Good old days!
Thanks for sharing
B E A U T Y!
What a magnificent and pure sound from that V8! N/A forever!
Ferrari 355 + Synthwave = Pure Happiness
Got to love some synthwave and a retro Ferrari!!
@@scd may I know the title of the BGM synthwave on this video ??? Keep it up with this kind of videos...
Absolutely amazing, thanks for the channel.
Glad you enjoy it!
In love with this car
Back in 2000 I had the good fortune to hoon a 355 and a 360 round Thruxton. Both great car's. The 355 is way prettier but the 360 was just on a different planet to drive. I've still got the video somewhere 👍👍
Half the power yes but also half the weight and it does look exciting
As of now I have an expression of happiness on my face :) That sound is awesome :) Thank you for sharing the video :) And thank you for remembering this car :)
You do a great job of filtering out the noise from fast cars. I think everyone has started to appreciate the experience of cars like this. Well done.
Everything about this video is amazing, I'll immediatelly re-watch it again! Well done!
Thank you 🙏
MY DREAM CAR
Excellent video! I had high expectations and you guys delivered.
Thank you kindly 🙌🙌 check back soon
Yep,half the power and half of the good looks!!😊
I love mine, even with OEM exhaust/manifolds: it is quieter, more subtle, but still, you can hear the howl and the scream. The steering is feel-some enough for me, because the chassis dynamics is so good.
Beautiful machine. That sound 😮👌
Perfection, just perfection. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love this ride.
The most beautiful car in the world
It is one of them!
Great job on this review. Very well done. This sounds so amazing. Definitely the right exhaust choice. Gated manuals are truly special.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching.
Such an elegant car. I reckon the GTS is the best one to get too. And blue with cream. This is a lovely example. Love the simplicity inside & out, the steering wheel & gearknob are gorgeously inviting.
Hell yeah, this is stunning work! I'm glad I came across this channel, because you really get it, and you have the talent to communicate that.
Such a great sound
Oh how I love the 355 😍 Nice one Matt. 👍
The best!
What a gorgeous thing. I want to be the monk that kept his Ferrari :0)
I loved my F355 F1 Spider. Looking forward to picking up a 6spd GTB sometime in the future.
OMG. That noise.
The most beautiful Ferrari ever made. And the second most beautiful car ever made. IMO
Even with the stock exhaust this is the best V8 sounding engine ever
Beautiful is an understatement.
Right!?
I like my original steering wheel, it is style of the 90s. No probs at all since 14 years of owning my beloved F355 GTS. The momo is like a foreign body.
Agreed
Once saw two of these racing each other as they left a Brands hatch meeting. They really do sound like this when they're going for it ! Absolutely gorgeous ! How many other cars sounds would still be in your consciousness some twenty odd years later ?!
Quality 🙌
Great review. The F355 is very special. One of the greatest, the feel, the noise. I've run one for over 12 years. A keeper.
Yes! 12 years, nice work!
The 355 is glorious! And the sound of that thing is on par with anything I've ever heard. The 355 and the 458 are my all time favorites of the rear engine V8 Ferraris. The 488 and the F8 are faster and are amazing machines no doubt. However from my perspective they don't hold a candle to the 355 or the 458 in either looks or engines. I'll take the free revving naturally aspirated engines in the 355 and 458 over the turbo engines in the 488 and F8 any day. And in the looks department there is no comparison. The 355 and 458 have a timeless beauty and elegance that the busier styling of the 488 and F8 can never compare to. Those cars have presence but so do the 355 and 458, while also being absolutely gorgeous at the same time.
Couldn't agree more man 👏
Purer designs age 10 times better.
We're right where a generation will be born into a world without automotive drama like this, its fading, don't get me wrong performance and speed remain...but soul and drama, a high revving Ferrari exhaust it's going out of vogue...how incredibly sad. I have a 2000 360 and as it ticks up in value it's tempting to let go, but the sounds it makes (mine has full performance exhaust), the way it feels in the hands, the joy of knowing the entire point of the car is to produce goose bumps every single time you drive it, and it does, it's a magical thing (mine being a bit further down the road of tech than 355). Just magic, it's impossible to understand until you've driven one, in my case owned one.
Driving to the countryside in a Ferrari...absolute pleasure!!!congrats great video!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I remember chasing one of these on a twisty B road in my Pug205GTi. Felt like a boss. Room enough for both in my fantasy garage.
What a great sound!!
Capristo exhaust is insane!!
Queen of hearts ♥️
I think that sounds even more glorious than the 458 I drove a year ago and thats saying something. A true classic.
This has always been the Ferrari I have lusted after. I just need my lottery numbers to come up
Good luck 🤞
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Even today, it is a beautiful Ferrari!!!
It’s ageing SO well!
Those looks! 😍😍
So good!
In my opinion the nicest Ferrari ever made and with a manual it’s my bucket list car
for me being born in the late 80s, that car is the archetype of a sports car, which back then was either a Diablo, or a 355, or a 993 turbo or the exotic McLaren F1.
Definitely a period of GREAT cars! Icons
Great video! Loved it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
