  • It's a race against the clock in this episode of Timberborn! The settlement of Whitewater has a half completed dam near the start of the river and only 3 days before the next bad tide hits. In this episode we're going to try to setup a way of diverting bad water back off the map while the bad tide is active and letting the good water through the rest of the time.
I'm also going to be expanding our new industrial zone at the top of the plateau by laying down a 2 story foundation of large warehouses on the first floor and industry up top.

v6 allowing this to be automated in the end is just amazing.

Have you ever thought about how extremely painful walking up all those stairs would be, especially holding a massive log, some planks, or a large bucket of water.

you should create something like an airlock for the bad tide, so you can still get to the good water downstream

I would say to build 2 reservoirs. One for bad tide, one for clean water, one on each side of the water source. You could use floodgates to route the bad and good water to the reservoirs as needed. By placing dams along the tops of the reservoirs on the "back" side, you could protect against overflow when they get full. Dams and flood gates on the front side of the "good" water reservoir would allow clean water to flow down river.

Really good series and very organized beaver colony. I love the game but my settlements are usually a mess. Gonna use yours as reference for better organization.

I think you're going to need some way to get the water out of the upper reservoir to the left of where the water comes in

Enjoying the series, would love to see a 20-25 min video.
It's pretty long in terms of in-game type.

Thanks! I need to up my editing game: right now a 25 minute video takes over 5 hours of editing, so I've been keeping them shorter to keep some more consistent releases.

does a lower valve work in the game? i.e a large wall with a lower controlled hole that lets water out?
Expanding on that idea couldn't you do a loch idea with tier'd sections so even when the timer is massive you still have some clean water you can use?

Unfortunately not 😞. The main way to drain a dam is using the floodgates that drain water from the top. The largest flood gate is 3 blocks high so that puts a limit on how usable deep dams can be. Very deep dams can still retain water to keep the land green (or be used to pump drinking water from), but are hard to release water from. One approach I like to do is make stepped dams down the river, with each dam having a height delta of 3 or 4.
The Ironteeth faction also have a "deep mechanical pump" that can pump water from up to 6 blocks down, so that could be another way of getting water out of a deep dam

Not a good design. The water is so deep it will take a long time for the bad water to flow away. I created a strait river from source along the edge of the map with water wheels for power and ended with a levee/gates. Had some side gates going off the edge aswell so I could let bad water flow off the map before it filled my resevrior. You get power during bad water and it clears quickly.
