Great video. I especially appreciate the extra petite 1/2 square triangle (HST)! Brilliant! I remember my grandmother (I'm 63) ironing with water she would sprinkle on the clothes that were starched in the wash! There's not much worse than putting a hard water stain on the fabric from the iron's steam!

I’m probably 60 years behind you, I have been an avid sewer since I was about 8, clothing mostly. Last year I fell in love with quilting. I faked my way thru a couple of panel quilts (I made my sisters take them, and tell me they liked them) made several baby quilts for grand kids. I found you because I have been looking for videos on you tube and you are just a wonderful instructor. I find a few are really long winded. Your sawtooth pattern is just what I was looking for, thanks for the how to’s and I will send a picture of how it turns out. God bless and thanks.

My hack is to add a mini shelf or two to the front or side of my sewing machine. I purchased a bag of drawer pulls on Amazon that are the kind that fit under the drawer so it is mostly hidden. Upside down they look like a mini shelf with a lip on the front that prevents small items from falling off. Now those tools like your seam ripper, mini scissors for nipping threads, or stiletto don't get lost on your work surface. just glue them on with heavy duty double stick tape.

Great tips, especially how to make your square ruler like a bloc lock ruler with the painters tape. I hadn't taught about that.

I find that the ruler grips fall off. I found that a little dab of glue from a hot glue gun works well as long as the blobs of glue aren't too big! I love the extra half square triangle tip for bonus blocks!

Hi Hailey. Thank you for your quilting tips. Do you wash your cotton fabrics before sewing and quilting? How about precuts? Thank you for sharing. 🧵

Hi Gigi, I don't prewash my fabric. I wait until the quilt is assembled and then I wash.

What foot are you using while sewing your HST? I noticed you simply lined up the foot edge and it makes 1/4 inch seam. My 1/4 inch foot doesn’t look like this. Thanks!

It is the 1/4 inch quilting foot that came with my Singer 2277 Tradition sewing machine. It is not necessary to have though! If you are able to move your needle on your machine, you could place the fabric's edge along the edge of your presser foot and move the needle so that the needle drops at a 1/4" away from the fabric's edge!
