Amazing formant-like sounds! Do you have general approaches to creating such timbres, or are they typically the result of happy accidents? Within a west coast paradigm my most successful approach is to audio rate modulate the FM Index of a complex oscillator (best results with a narrow pulse wave), however the frequencies of all oscillators involved remain somewhat of a mystery to me and it takes a lot of subtle and gradual tweaking until I stumble upon a combination that produces a pleasing or convincing result.
looking like the cv out (top right jack) is going to an external formant filter that he switches on in the beginning. If you don't have something purpose-built, a simple formant can be achieved by running two bandpass filters in series.
