The advanced EMT is not used in every service area, and typically medical directors/state EMS will make the determination if advanced EMTs will be used in a particular region. AEMT school takes EMTs who are certified and teaches them more advanced skills like placing advanced airways, IV access and IO access. I have seen AEMTs used in rural areas where they may lack paramedic support.

I got it, really helping a lot
Im in EMT basic school. Igel is one of the skills we get to work.
I’m an emt and we can place advanced airways including igels and give glucagon and epi (epi does require orders from doc via phone/radio)
And it’s draw up not and epi pen
Here in Colorado all EMTs take an IV class giving them access to IVs including IO and function as an AEMT so we don’t have AEMTs because we function as them at the EMT level
I can place I gels and kings as a basic.
Colorado?
@@nickmarksmusic ohio
can do igel but not king in IL
In Illinois there is no such thing as AEMT 😭
There is but it is not common. I am looking to take it to give me a leg up on basic postions.
igel is BLS for our department guess it depends on your medical director
Yea varies state to state. In indiana basics can put in igels king airways and combi tubes. We can give IM injections and draw epi straight from vial. Advanced emt is a bit of a joke in indiana if you want to go on to be a medic. A lot of people just skipped advanced because really you’re only learning 2 skills that you will learn in medic school.
Thhe scope if practice for various jobs is a little crazy. My question is when I become an EMT and also RMA certified why doesn’t that expand my scope of practice? In some states I already have the skills, education and training of an LPN. Go ahead and hate me for saying that I don’t care. Also nursing diplomas are bs
Same
Can do all of this as an EMT basic in CO, you have to take a really short extra course for the IV/IO but otherwise it’s all bls
That's awesome
In some states they are not recognizing AEMT's for example I live in Connecticut, They only recognize AEMT's if you work rural community where access to a Paramedic is hard to come by. In the Suburbs and the Cities, AEMT's are hard to come by.
IOs are awesome!😁🦴🩸👍
Hey could you make more videos about aemt. I would appreciate it!! Thanks

Thanks for watching!
Here in Oregon all emts get to i-gel
In WI we can do all of that as EMT's except just IV's and IO's. Unless we get check off by our medical director for those skills.
I've had 2 IO's.i have some serious medical issues so I have my fair share of ambulance rides but I also have tiny invisible veins lols. You need an ultrasound to find one so ive had 2 IO's and its brutal lol. One below my knee was AWFUL but my shoulder wasn't as bad but still awful
I am a PCP and struggling in report. How to give proper and concise report? Can you plz help me
In my state Igel is EMT-B
Bro I'm studying EMT in India can I get a job in ur area or America do i need a licence can u help me plss ❤
AZ is different. We dont have stages of emt anymore. There's emt and paramedic. An as an emt in az, my scope is somewhere in the middle. I can do IVs, but not IOs. Cant do a king, but i can drop iGels. Cant do IMs besides epipens, can do D5 now though. And they just cleared Ativan for us. Also, i can "technically" pack wounds cause i took an instructor course, but that one is still kind of a grey area.
We do i gels as EMTs in California lol
Sadly CA doesn't do AEMT ;(
Up in Northern California we do
@@SLOTHxMAN which county?? I’ve been trynna figure out.
