Cake box mixes are very delicious and practical.
I personally don't use box cakes but I have all my recipes developed by now! It definitely is between you and your customer and it does not diminish your hard work, but I feel like if they are paying a considerable amount of money it should be from scratch without the additives that come in a box :)

If I’m honest, I’m probably the minority here, I don’t see any issue with using box cake for anything, I personally think it tastes great if not better than “from scratch”, I personally mix box cake mix into my “from scratch” recipes and people rave about my cakes sooooo 🥰
