  • In the last few years, NOAA's Office of Coast Survey (OCS) has announced, prepared and begun implementation of the sunsetting of NOAA Raster Nautical Charts (RNC) - Farewell to Traditional Nautical Charts (noaa.gov). This process is taking the Office of Coast Survey, with a history of over 200 years, from providing nautical charts in both the raster (RNC) and vector (ENC) format, to just vector. Many GIS users within this forum rely on two basemap services available via ArcGIS Online content searches and NOAA OCS sites - the SeamlessRNC service and Chart Tile Service. These services, available for use as image, map, WMS, WMTS and TMS, have provided users many years of trusty RNC basemaps and operational layers in web maps, web apps and custom apps. For the last 7 years, the NOAA ENC Viewer and service have provided an ENC basemap. As NOAA pivots away from RNC, we will be providing a new service to complement the ENC service, both using ArcGIS Maritime and Maritime Chart Service. This transition and new service will be discussed during this lightening talk.
