If you leave the Colab page for more than 12 hours then you have to start from scratch. However, if you do it in less than that time you don't have to do everything again.

If You have a DVD Quality Image to Your File. Aren't You just going to Degrade It Uploading to UA-cam?. Does the Finished Colour version stay on UA-cam, or can You delete both after Use?. Is It more complicated to do a Whole Movie?. Thanks for the Tutorial.
Unfortunately UA-cam degrades the video quality. The finished colored version is not going to be uploaded on UA-cam. It will remain on google colab for some hours. You should download it before it vanishes. For doing a whole movie you need a powerful server. The free version of google colab is not enough. And..yes you can remove it from youtube after you got the colored version.

This is not easy to run, I used pixbim video colorize ai as it is much easier to run and works like a charm. I tried to use this but i got stuck in unknown errors.

Pixbim video colorize may help you as it is easier. I ran into same issues.
Appreciate the video. Thanks for your time putting it together. UA-cam tends to compress and reduce picture quality of original videos. Is there a way to make use of DeOldify without uploading to a third party site like youtube so maintain my original video quality? Also I couldn't tell from your video but do you notice a color shift taking place after colorizing (ie colors change or get lighter/darker as the subject moves)?

@@markservice8735 Unfortunately no. Tried virtually every site available to me on the list and none worked. I think it probably takes a computer coding expert to do it.

I’m able to get all the way to the last step but then it just gives me an error along the lines of Name Colorize could not be found or something like that
However :You cannot currently connect to a GPU due to usage limits in Colab. Is there a way around this? TIA

I have a problem. The thing with me is, my computer is slow and I gotta wait a long time for the video to be ready. (When its ready It doesnt even pop up i gotta go to the folders and download it). The problem is, the last render factor thing doesnt work for me, it only shows black pictures so i cant test it to see how its gonna look. I red the menu, it says in the menu I have to select GPU. When I select it, nothing loads. So I keep it to none, everything loads but I cant see the pictures, I dont think its because of that, IDK. Can you please explain whats wrong if you understand ? (When I download the video its colored and its fine)

It's showing "Video created here: video/result/video.mp4" but no converted video is shown there. I mean it's getting compiled successfully, but video is not getting converted and shown in the result. Please Help

First you said, "If you want to edit the video." I'm thinking I want to colorize, do I have to do some kind of editing first. Then, the first three pages are covered with printing, many different things to read; and you didn't see sure as to what you might want to say next, i.e., you could have been better prepared.
Sorry, but that's a lesson I once had a lot of trouble with. Next time, I suggest you have a friend review your video, one who will be honest. If you do, be prepared to redo it. And be patient. You certainly know what you're doing, you just need to be clearer.

yea, free colab supports up to 1 hour. If you get the premium colab there won't be limitations.
Why can't you colorize your own video file? Why does it have to be a video that's on UA-cam? And can you use windows 7?
I did the whole thing, waited 40 minutes and said it was complete. But there was no video. It did show multiple frames of varying render factors.
Try with a short video.

Colorization of old films is a crime against culture.
I am also not a fan of colorizing but technology-wise it is interesting.

Hello…I hope you see my question. Assuming I can do all that is required, I need to know whether the colors portrayed in the newly created video are the actual accurate colors from the original scene? Or is the video just colorized, as it were……Any advice you can give greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Kate
For some of the colors it can be accurate like the trees and so on, for other colors it may not be accurate (like the exact original colors). I ran into errors trying this so I used pixbim video colorize ai.

For me it goes through the motions of doing it all, creates the video, but is no way of doing anything with it, like it's just gone into a black hole rather than putting it on the google drive.

run every cell carefully. If you miss one, you will get that error.
Help it's stuck on 100% and not showing the result
Well , it takes a while to complete and attach every single piece that it colorized, casue first it cut the movie or clip into smaller pieces, so depends on the clip's length the 100% process takes longer time to actually complete .and when it completes the result will be saved into the drive/movie/result folder if im not mistaken
I have a lot of questions do I have to use the watermark can I upload and download my videos from my Google Drive not UA-cam and do I really need a graphics card with 4 gigabytes of ram to upload my video to the Super computer thanks

after the it is 100% it still takes some time until it finishes. Don't forget that your video is better not to be longer than 30 minutes.
