Can you purchase a separate relay for programming the hot water schedule. The hive units come with a 2 channel receiver for controlling heating and hot water.
Not on the switched version. - the regulating version for OpenTherm boilers can deal with HW timing. However may also be other relay options on the way.
We been running the Hive smart heating system with the Hive TRVs since each of the Hive systems were launched and have had numerous issues along the way but most of the time they work well, however even though we can use Siri or the app like you have demonstrated on your heating system, the Hive heating system can take up to 15 mins to receive the command on the TRVs as this helps to preserve the battery life. What is the battery life like on your demonstrated TRVs? as they reacted almost immediately and do they also support the heat on demand feature like the Hive TRVs do so that the boiler is only told to initialise when a TRV requests heat? Thank you
The battery life on the valves is around 2 years. The heating can work in a number of ways with either the thermostats or the valves starting the boiler.
Hi Gary, today I have my day off. Finally time to watch all of your latest content. How does the open window detection work ? Is it an extra sensor, or is it sensed by the (quick fall of temperature in the room) wireless temperature transmitter ?
The system maybe smart but it still cannot control the boiler and make it condensate as it should. Ie that ideal boiler in the smart house has Opentherm, you would then have full control of the boiler rather than just a dumb switch which infact thats all this is. Such a shame that you are not showing electricians how it should be done. Its hard enough to get a Plumber to fit a modulating control let alone an electrician. Would you drive your new car on and off or would you drive it as designed and modulate the throttle with ones foot? Such a shame. 🤷♂️
Valid point - however the heating system in our smart home takeover is already wired as - S-plan plus. The boiler is also in a different location to the zone valves so we have limited options without making major alterations to the fixed wiring.
@@efixx You can wire the OT control at the boiler and use RF stats for the CH Then wire the CH on through the HW satisfied and use the receiver relay on SL1. Then use the old SL on the SL2 going through the usual route on the old clock, set the HW to once and take a feed from HW off to the CH 2 port Now you you have priority hot water and the boiler will run at max rate on HW, then OT lower temps and the heating will be more even and the boiler will condense longer
Great video guys. Some clever stuff there, But sorry to be a old fudy and dudy but yoyr phone is for making phone calls and talking to the people, all that clever stuff the apps and things is making us all lazy, as are computers we are slowly losing our ability to write and think for ourselves., all in the name of progress, what is wrong with the old stuff? If it isn't broken then don't fix it or replace it. Still who am I to complain. Another fantastic video as always guy's
Well demonstrated guys.
Thanks Brian

Got a vaillant combi with dial time clock does the relay wire to that , thus replacing the clock

How will this work on a ufh and radiator heating system?

I've got a customer who puts an oil radiator on in his equipment room at his house. So if he got one of these he could control it via the App.
Yes - might have to switch it via a contractor depending upon the power.
My Siri tried to respond to your command
Hopefully it didn’t trigger your heating!

Theres a modulating version of it too which is compatible with OpenTherm boilers 👍👍

If this stat cannot do it then its the wrong product.
Take a look at the EPH this will definitely do the job and has your internet control

Who uses a phone 📱 for phone calls?? - get down with the kids Sean 😂
@@efixx yes maybe I should 😂 but am quite happy being a grandad with out all the mess like face book and twitter and the like
