I don't have any applications installed on my Google Home application. In my country the G4 83' is much cheaper than the 85" B9 , though just released , but Sony being Sony , won't see discounts for a long time . There is no one TV to rule them all - neither win on size vs 98"-115" . Most of the latest Tvs will make most people happy. People saying that this TV or that TV is best without conditions is being silly . our man here says you want vivid , like vivid get this TV - ie conditional . Again just remember 2025 LG, TCL, Sony Samsung TVs will be better again , so your best TV no longer is. Good chance Sony's tech it's TCL tech anyway ( the controllable dimming zones ) - Tech seen on other TVs, and Sony is not crowing as exclusive patented Sony tech . So keep than in mind as this TV will be beaten with NIT monsters in coming years , including by Sony who want a natural 4000Nits , and a high 100% screen as well

    For Filmic viewing - is it true the Bravia 9 has more shadow detail than a95L / OLED - due to the higher brightness?? So shadow detail will always be ahead + brighter highlights??

    • @444chroma
      @444chroma 2 місяці тому +1

      Shadow detail is a little lifted with the B9, but there are no artifacts, like dithering noise, chrominance overshoot, or pulsing/flashing behavior that OLEDs sometimes deal with. The detail is all easy to see on the B9. So a lot of the time I do observe more shadow detail on this TV. How much shadow detail we were *intended* to observe is where it gets tricky. Both mini LED and OLED will both struggle with shadow detail in their own ways, because it's such a challenge in general. This is a long way to say that they are both wrong but you can still have a preference.
      PS> You mentioned the word "filmic" and that is not exactly an easy term to define for everyone, but I would use that word to describe this TV. Movies look rich and always natural.

      @williambroth7784 Hi!! Personally I am very much enjoying The Bravia 8! Starting off with the screen it's the Evo panel that is similar to the C4, G4, A90j, A95L (although not QD), so specular highlights due to HDR/DV is fantastic. It doesn't get as bright as the A95L nor the Bravia 9, but it does get bright!
      It doesn't Black Crush, and that's one thing I love about Sony is that they care more about Shadow detail and just detail overall. Seriously no regrets on this. What I would say is also make sure to go to your local electronics store whether it's Best Buy, or Value Electronics or anywhere else and just see it for yourself so that way you can get a really good idea what it's like. To me it's kind of like the 900e of oleds this year. It doesn't have a standout feature, but it's a well balanced set.... that just does everything well.

    Heck, even a video from 2017 of the Z9D and an OLED really doesn't make the case for the OLED. Brightness is the OLED's achilles heel and gaming is the LED's achilles heel since it can't dim to 400,000.

    Nice video again - HDR is great. Can’t wait for next one.
    As you mentioned out of box G4 is less colourful but if you modify tone mapping it will get close enough?
    One thing to mention is B9 will lose contrast/colours off angle - if you have seats at 40 degree or more - PQ will suffer.
    Higher brightness is nice - but better contrast adds more to PQ. You can mod s95d to get 3k peak brightness also. That means OLEDs are bound to get brighter soon.
    In darker room you would not utilise B9 brightness as it would be blinding. 1000 nits can be so definitely 3000 will. Only good 98" LED would convince me over OLED. At the moment happy to pay 10% more and get 83" G4.
    If Sony released 98" B9 for sensible price then yeah. Waiting to see 98" TCL vs 98" UX Hisense flagships before deciding. Number of dimming zones they are pushing is nearly 10x bigger than Sony - no fancy backlight control needed. Cheaper and brighter also. Just need to wait for this to come to 98” size. For time being 77/83” OLED will do.
    Saying this would like to see that tv in vivid as you suggesting, I think you might be right there.

    The "LCD issues" that continue to exist, particularly in gaming, have me happy that I went to QD-OLED and will likely never go back to LCD. I can't STAND the backlight issues. Also, the bigger you go with LCD, the more you can see smearing in motion. Particularly in games. My last LCD was a larger (75") mini LED and the motion was pretty bad on it. I got sort of used to it for movies and shows, but for gaming it was extremely distracting. It essentially looked like every game I played had a mild motion blur enabled. Upgraded to QD-OLED and everything looks fantastic now. So yeah I'll pass on the extremely high brightness (even though I love some good bright HDR) in exchange for an overall more stable and consistent image

    Excellent walk through KG. It's so good that Sony went back and put in this level of effort with Mini-LED. Some of us were waiting a long time!!
    This TV seems special in the way that it kind of does everything well. The main draw for me is HDR impact, color, and increased shadow detail during movie watching. Also feel just feel a little extra peace of mind because it's a traditional backlit display so there is no concern for dimming, static pixels, or PC usage....no pixel shifting, compensation cycles etc. You are right this TV is at its best when the backlight is allowed to fully flex and push the light.
    Your observation with game mode is also true, the pixel level control and instant response being a huge advantage for OLED when it comes to gaming. There is just not enough time for Sony to pre-process frames in advance for the B9's backlight while in game mode without introducing lag which is a big no no. Game mode is still good but if that's your MAIN thing you can do better.

    Hi man, what is your lg g4 clarity settings? On my LG C2, I set input to game console, so that I could use more features. I turned off allm, vrr, the reason behind this, is that with these turned off, processing features like clarity work better. Input lag is okay, good enough for story driven games.
    In addition, I use cinema picture mode and Ai picture pro turned on, it upscales low res textures
    But ai picture pro is tied to sharpness, without it, it won’t work. Also I use super resolution medium and sharpness 28. Ai picture pro work when sharpness is set to 25 or over, same with super resolution.
    I am using this because, when playing in performance mode resolution suffers, and this workaround helps with that. I would appreciate if you could tell me your opinion and suggestions. Thank you KG😊

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG 2 місяці тому

      I would imagine that is quite high input lag you don’t notice it? In the professional mode no not really you don’t experience a ton of difference most of the time scenes can look really similar so any contrast advantage from OLED is more noticeable and I’d tend to favor them next to the Bravia 9, most show and movies are conservatively graded and have more dark scenes than anything. So really yeah not typically if we’re talking S95D A95L G4 but certain high APL scenes can look brighter on the Bravia 9 and if you manage to actually come across high graded content that is consistently showing high brightness scenes you can notice a difference. It’s definitely more noticeable when you’re next to a WOLED like the Bravia 8 though.

      And theres the audio as well, the Bravia 9 has a 70 watt 2.2.2 system and the Z9K has a 85 watt 2.2.2 system ( I dont use my audio system all the time )

I rather have to reboot the TV from the menu or unplug it. It Does not matter if it's on an app, OTA or hdmi input. It's like a software memory leak I am guessing.

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG 2 місяці тому +2

      Yes but they all are capable of the same results, 85” will perform slightly better because of an arguably better panel being used but peak brightness is identical and the color is as well. As for the backlight issues they are going to be tighter at higher sizes because you’re getting more zones but they still exist and that’s been my experience with Sony LCDs in the past.

      @@TechWithKG , thanks once again for the reply! Yes, I feared it might be a panel lottery. Personally I think for a flagship especially that this shouldn't be the case. In England 75" is the smallest screen for the B9, and although I wouldn't have gone for the 65" version anyway, I dread to think what a pain it will be having to try to re-box and return (which would likely incur return postal charges) a 75"+ screen because of subpar panels resulting in DSE. So far this is my only concern regarding the B9.

    Now arguing that for people who watch in vivid should consider B9 - accuracy is Sony main strength - if we forfeit it then TCL and Hisense are entering chat and crashing Sony in brightness as well as value for money. That’s why B9 is positioned very awkwardly contrast not high enough to compete with OLEDs and not enough bright/good value/big to take on tcl/hisense. The latter already offer better tech with outstanding peak brightness and number of dimming zones. Their transition to high end TVs just began and they make giant leaps each year.
    Sure we can hype up Sony intelligent backlight but let’s be honest: this is to replace higher number of dimming zones. TV with 10k dimming zones will be brighter and with better contrast than Sony backlight/2k dimming zones can achieve.
    Saying this totally I agree mini LED domain should be not accuracy but inaccurate cinema/vivid where they can still shine over OLED whilst they can.
