Yes, we also owed this year as well, a few thousand. Just as a side note, you didn't pull out the Christmas plan sheet and check off this week's contribution.
We’re in the same boat and feeling the same frustration. We ended up owing about 2000 on the federal but we’re getting a refund on the state for much less than $2000.
Trumps tax cuts did nothing for lower and middle class infact we ended up owing. Thank god this will be the last year we have to worry about them. His tax cuts helped the rich while screwing with the underdog.
We got a refund, but we had to adjust our withholdings to have extra taken out (we have to cover some income that doesn't have taxes withheld for various reasons). This year, we had to bump our withholding up a lot so that we don't owe a bunch next year.
Single income of about 50k, no kids, claim 0 and get an extra $25 a check taken out. Somehow still owed $950. Then my sister has 1 kid made $20k and somehow got a $7,000 refund 🤨🤨
We got a state refund of 2k and a federal of $29 literally. Our accountant explained that state was literally because of a credit. Definitely preparing to break even next year or even owe so I’m budgeting extra aside a little refund for us just in case.
I did get a refund but it was only enough to pay to get my taxes done. And I feel like that cost has jumped way up! Also I feel like they keep changing the tax credits/rules so that we can't claim anything like we used to.
I got a refund But that is 100% due to the fact that when we bought our house we had Solar installed and you get money back from the federal government for a few years after you do that
I'm from the UK and our tax is taken out of our paycheck under the headings of 1 ) Tax and 2) National Insurance so unless we are self employed we dont have to file our taxes. Does tax not come out of your paychecks and if not do you all save for it during the year ?
That depends on the type of work. If you’re a contractor, most times no, they won’t take taxes out but you do have to pay taxes (whether that’s throughout the year quarterly or once a year at tax season). But the majority of Americans do have their taxes taken from their checks, plus Medicaid (even if you don’t use it), social security, state taxes, insurance (if your employer gives), and any pre-contributions to retirement or 401k’s - all gets taken out before you ever see your paycheck. UA-cam doesn’t take taxes out on my checks so I have to put tax money aside (which you see me do in my UA-cam paycheck cash stuffings) and then pay at the end of the year. Which I did. However, it still wasn’t enough taxes taken from my husband’s checks (which they take a massive chunk from already) and this is over and above all the tax we have already paid (in the 10’s of thousands of dollars) this year. And that’s what is concerning to me. Never before the past few years have I had to pay. I get the UA-cam pay but I’m putting more than enough to cover that, it’s hubby’s tax bracket I believe. They are taking more out bc he makes more.
I got a refund because I’m now self employed and can use a lot of deduction, I also now have two kids. Prior to all of that I made about 60K a year and I usually still got a refund, maybe about 1K. I also did let them take out the maximum deduction, I had the max for 401K taken out and health insurance. On my commission(bonus) checks, I worked for T-Mobile, I had extra going towards Roth and taxes to help out as well
Had to pay around $4000. In our 12 years of marriage, the only years we didn’t pay were tax years 2017 - 2019 or 2020. Otherwise we’ve paid $3000 - $5000 every year. Even when I was single on a teacher’s salary, I mostly had to pay or sometimes broke even.
Refund made close to 75000 a year and we paid 10679 in taxes. We got 1094 refund first time in a few years we always paid state income and federal income
We got a decent refund...about 4k. BUT my husband is active duty military (so specific deductions and credits related) and the only one employed. We also still have 2 kids under 18 and made a move across the world for hubby's job that were not fully reimbursed.
I used to pay too. I am single no dependents. So, i adjusted my w4 to all 0 and additional withholding $100 each paycheck. Plus my employer gives us 401k and option to invest all of these helped me to get a refund. And yes this year was less than last year. 🤷♀️
We got a refund but it was way way less then it normally is. I know with only having a 18 year left I thought that’s what it was. Hubby claims 0 so, not sure.😮
Yes, we also owed this year as well, a few thousand. Just as a side note, you didn't pull out the Christmas plan sheet and check off this week's contribution.
I got a refund, not as much as last few years, but it works.
The Trump tax cuts expired. We owed $815.
His cuts end in December 2025. They were geared to help the wealthy and did nothing for the lower and middle class.
It was the Democratic Congress tax cuts; the current MAGA led do-nothing Congress made sure the rich get their tax cuts...harrumph
We had to pay taxes as well and I completely agree with you something is definitely going on.
I enjoy the longer stuffing.
Sounds like your employers aren’t withholding enough if you owe.
I had that problem at an old job.
We’re in the same boat and feeling the same frustration. We ended up owing about 2000 on the federal but we’re getting a refund on the state for much less than $2000.

I think you should educate yourself a bit.

Great job with your savings 😊
Paid a little over 8 thousand. Everyone in my family had to pay as well. I was wondering the same thing. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing.
2022 taxes I received a refund of like 3,000ish.. 2023 I ended up paying.. 700ish dollars.. I was so upset.
Refund bt much smaller than previous years
Total refund was 399.
State 19
Fed 380
But my CPA said I just barely squeaked by having to owe.
Nice video. Is that 100 envelope challenge a 1-100 or are the numbers random. I couldn't tell.
Same on the taxes. Well over $1k over the extra already paid in. Definitely more than usual. So not happy.
💜💜💜 Happy Wednesday friend 😊. Here watching 💜💜💜
I got a state refund, don't file federal because I am on disability, so I have no income.
Single income of about 50k, no kids, claim 0 and get an extra $25 a check taken out. Somehow still owed $950.
Then my sister has 1 kid made $20k and somehow got a $7,000 refund 🤨🤨
Haven't gotten a refund in many years. Average of about $5,000 paid out the last few years. And we both claim married and 0 on our W4's.
Federal refund $1,000 and a small state refund. I usually have to pay the state, so bonus 😄
Owe always work 2 jobs and NC still has a measley $7.25 hr min wage sad and it’s only me trying to pay my bills
We got a state refund of 2k and a federal of $29 literally. Our accountant explained that state was literally because of a credit. Definitely preparing to break even next year or even owe so I’m budgeting extra aside a little refund for us just in case.

I got a refund. But im limited Income and seriously over paid all year
we owed on fed, but got back on state. bottom line we came out slightly ahead.
I filed an extension. I have no idea if we will owe, but they did approve the extension.
Refund only in state taxes
Paying federal 😢
Paid over $2000. Hoping for a refund next year 💜
We paid the most we ever have and actually held out extra!
I got a refund
But that is 100% due to the fact that when we bought our house we had Solar installed and you get money back from the federal government for a few years after you do that
Owed a ridiculous amount
Small refund, single income and all of my kids are grown
Refunds all around. Coworkers too. Also have enjoyed watching a lot of refund stuffing videos.

Oh and I am married and no dependents. Our kids are grown.

Because the UK makes sense unlike the US.
We got a refund. It was a little less than previous years, but overall was the same. We both claim 0 and have 2 kids 🤷🏼♀️

I got like $300 back this year and my boyfriend got back a whole $5. The last few years we’ve both had to pay in though.
We had to pay and that’s that we claim zero exemptions and my husband pays extra.
I had to pay taxes for the first time this year it was so much!!
Refund received.
Refund received
We owed $2200. Gross.
