I sure do remember this Toyota Crown from when I was a kid in Australia in the sixties. Our nextdoor neighbour was a very successful optometrist in Newcastle. He had a white Toyota Crown just like the one in the brochure. It was so luxurious compared to the Morris 1100 my dad owned. I remember that his wife drove a Volkswagen Beetle. They had two children. Their son was the eldest one, and their daughter was in my primary school class. Both of the kids went to boarding school for their high school education, in the true upper crust tradition. It was a sign of relative wealth to own two cars, and note none of them were British. I got my first pair of glasses from my neighbour the optometrist. He noticed when I was ten that I couldn't see the ball properly when playing cricket in their backyard. No-one else had ever noticed because I was always at the top of my class at school. Certainly this was an episode that brought back memories for me, Stephen. It's interesting to see that back then Toyota was interested in providing safety features. This is still the case. Many current Toyota models here in the Philippines come with six airbags, ABS, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control, Rear Parking Sensors and Reversing Camera, and some with Blind Spot Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Other ADAS features are on high level models. Wearing seatbelts is still not common here, but Toyota provides three point ELR seatbelts for all passengers. Not all manufacturers do this. I guess it's no surprise that Toyota holds 49% of the market here in the Philippines. Trusted and reliable vehicles.

I don't remember seeing this particular, version of the crown, but i very much" remember seeing the 1970's and 1980's Toyota crown super saloon's, that followed. I recently saw a 1970's crown super saloon with white wall tyre's) and a very" rare custom estate, I've also, recently seen its big brother" the magnificent" toyota century V12. A very imposing beast!! I love all these classic Japanese cars, thanks for the brilliant broucher review. .

The Crown was quite common in Australia back then. I can't recall seeing one in the UK. It would have been a column change all the way for me.

My neighbour had one about 40 year's ago and it was white
That was the only one I saw in town
There was a couple of 80s crowns about in the 90s
Most probably ended up on the Banger track
    Number 1 banger they were
I also tried to buy for racing
But scarce and not cheap even back then

I do see what you mean about the Hillman Hunter look, the side view does give me that kinda vibe. The front end reminds me a bit of a Lincoln, You can see how Toyota had their ambition to be a luxury brand like they did later with Lexus. Very nice brochure so thanks for sharing it

    Where did you find that?
In Australia, you had to be 65 or over to buy a Crown, and they were speed limited to (whatever the speed limit was) minus 20 mph.
The 70s Toyotas there rusted like buggery.
18;20 "Five main bearing crankshaft" - I think the cold's getting to you 🙂

Like luxury features n interior for this model as my mate had Crown wagon, beige colour, standard trim, no luxury, manual gearbox, went ok. I am not sure if still has the crown wagon.

Slightly reminiscent of the Fiat 130 saloon.

The myriad of spelling, grammar, and spacing issues in the text are a riot. They must have let a Japanese person translate.
