My seat mate said “that’s not your bag.” She ignored her and tried again and we both got up and said “that’s not your bag.” The woman then turned around and got right off the plane.

The Bluetooth speaker is electronic, hence, not allowed in checked luggage. ALL electronics have to be packed in carry on bags and removed for TSA checks (placed in one of the bins). In the US, people like my friend Larry (used to be a Wackenhut minimum wage guard) are TSA luggage "Inspectors". A valid concern. In the Philippines there used to be something called a "Tanim bala" (planting bullets) scam. A luggage inspector will suddenly "find" a bullet in your luggage. You'll be held at the airport security room and interrogated, and then extorted for thousands of dollars. You see that luggage plastic wrapping service early in this video? That’s why they ask if your bag has been unattended or packed by someone else. But if someone put something in there unknowingly, how would you know? That’s one way to get rid of a boyfriend if he’s abusive.
@@sidneybristow815 The problem would be, if someone put something in your bag, after you checked in, you don‘t know of, to prove that it wasn‘t you who put it there
Excellent advice as usual. Cheers! BTW, I use hardshell suitcases that are "zipperless" to increase my bag security, because zippers can be compromised without you knowing.
These are harder to find these days. Samsonite discontinued cases with magnesium frames. TSA locks restrict the possibilities but are not needed except for USA.
Hard case suitcases and NO plain zips (use some kind of zip protection). It is quite easy for thieves to unzip and re-zip again. It is hard to know what is missing out of your suitcase. After locking, use sticky tapes to wrap up your suitcases or use wrapping service at the airports. Carry a roll of sticky tapes in your carry-on. Your carry-on is safer because everyone was watching, including you i hope. Put all your valuables in your waist bag, wear it and never leave it unattended. Take your passports (or valuables) out and put them back in the waist bag after use immediately.
I put a TSA approved lock on my suitcase and they cut it off. When I opened the suitcase it had been ransacked, clothes thrown everywhere. I was so disgusted.
Good point on lock. TSA broke my wife’s locking system and zipper after a flight. Got the notice they opened the luggage for inspection. They did not care they broke her lock and ZIPPER and and would not provide any reimbursement for the damage they caused. That’s BS and typical government crap. Oh, by the way she had a TSA approved lock!
In Sept 2022 employees of Lufthansa airlines opened up our locked checked bags (after security was done and it had been put thru to be loaded on the plane) and stole items from our suitcases. We were flying from Athens, Greece to Frankfurt, Germany to Detroit, Michigan. They were hard shelled suitcases with combination locks....Another time coming home from Europe with a soft sided bag locked with an approved TSA combination lock they just cut the lock and this was in Detroit. Coming back from South America I got the dreded 3 numbers on my boarding pass and had another check as I was getting on the plane and she jammed a ruler in my softsided bags zipper damaging it so she could take another look....nothing found. They really don't care about the customer.
I'm sorry for your loss. Have you informed the airport security or the police about the incident? It may be helpful to consider purchasing traveler's insurance for your next trip to ensure peace of mind.
exactly why i dont bother with locks, they'll just f up my luggage. i carry anything valuable in my personal item. they can play with my dirty laundry all they want lol
To be fair, the Airlines top management are not aware of their staff's performance on ground. Thus such incidences happened almost at all airports in the world. Even premium airline like Singapore Airlines, they will not entertain claims for damaged luggage handles and wheels even though it was so clearly the luggage went through rough handling by their handling agent after the luggage has checked in. If and unless the airline concern takes concrete steps to look into these matters, all travellers should go on the media to name the airlines with the worst ground services. Many awards were given
I been doing a lot of traveling in 2023,i don't check any bags because i don't like to spend my money doing this,a nice hand bag do the trick for me..nice and easy..!.
The airline should be responsible for the security manager to ensure that all luggage are protected from leaving to loading. If not we may have organized crime working instead of security personnel.
Unfortunately, sometimes the TSA people just cut the lock off even when it is a TSA one (they threw the cut locks in the bag). There was a notice that the TSA checked it. Nothing was missing. Of course the only things in my bag are clothes, shoes, an extra sun hat and toiletries.
all locks can be opened. no such thing as "pick proof". best way is to ship your "stuff". via the usps, ups, or fed up...er...a...i mean fed-ex. a bit of a headache but your stuff is safer.
The plastic wrapping (as shown in your video) makes no sense for checked luggage. TSA screening for checked luggage is after the gate agent puts the bag on the conveyor belt. TSA can cut the plastic wrap to inspect the bag like they cut your personal lock off. Master TSA lock key! You can purchase them online. Actually, they can easily be picked because the standard TSA 002 thru 007 have minimal tumblers designed for one master key to open seven different types of locks. Don't check any luggage you aren't willing to lose. Carry-on Only.
The x-ray machines used by the TSA can penetrate through the plastic wrapping and reveal the contents of the luggage. Thanks for the comment, please share the information with friends and family.
Great video. My only problem is airline crew who are thieves. I have traveled internationally and one of my bags were “held”. Staff said it was missing. Said they would find investigate for $200 USD. I said no. The missing bag mysteriously made it yo our private bus. I was on a group trip.
Most of the time when you’re boarding and there’s no room in the overhead bins they have no choice but to gate check your bags and sometimes there’s no time to take out your valuables…..
I had a bad experience on Garuda airline in Indonesia. The authorities said my carry-on was a little big for their small plane, so they checked it in before I boarded the plane. Thought the airline was reputable and also with the last-minute pressure, I totally forgot I had some foreign currencies in there. All foreign cash was cleverly stolen. Reported to the airline and some authorities but they did nothing. Definitely it was an inside job as they knew this happened quite often but did nothing to stop or tighten up security. So beware if you fly Garuda Airlines.
Forget about using expensive luggage tags. Mine was stolen when checked in. A simple no frills cheap one will do. Airports in UK are notorious for theft of items from checked in bags. Baggage handlers do their thieving job by hiding in the aircraft luggage hold away from the view of the public. Most are in cahoots even with the airport security personnel assigned to monitor the loading and unloading process. As long as one doesn't pack any valuable items in the checked in bags, there is no worries of theft. On the other hand, those drug smugglers will be stupid enough to risk tens of thousands of dollars worth of drugs to place them into anyone's bags. Theft only occurs from the time the luggage is checked in until its loaded onto an aircraft and vice versa from the time the luggage are unloaded until it arrives at the arriving area conveyor belt of the arrival hall. It's the airport and the airlines responsibilities to look into these areas in order to prevent theft.
Zippers can easily be opened with just a pen/pencil which makes luggage with TSA locks better because they won't be able to open up the luggage once they puncture a zipper and that makes your luggage less desirable. Without it, they can just open it up then use the zipper pull to reseal the luggage like they were never there. They also have luggage now that have covered zippers you can't do that to. Next thing is be sure your luggage tag w/ your address is encased rather than visible so thieves don't just walk up and write down the address then go to your home to rob it assuming it's empty since you're travelling. Mine has a pull-out tab w/ the address and I use scotch tape on it to keep it closed as another layer of protection as it would take more time to get the info. Lastly, black luggage is too prevalent so best to pick a color/design that is more unique and easy to spot quickly.
One airport that checks your luggage tag against your boarding pass is Trichy Airport in India. No way anyone can take your luggage out, even accidentally. Thank you to the airport staff.
Why do we have to protect our luggage from theft? Why not encourage airlines to offer worry free travel by making sure that the passengers luggage are safe.? Unless these thieves area not addressed well there will always be pilferage and losses because these thieves thrives in their area. Eliminate thieves and it's a worry free travel and the company gets a boost!
It’s not an issue with the airlines…they lease space from the airports. All luggage handlers are employed by the airports. These jobs pay low and have high turnover rates so that airports are desperate for employees. It’s a sad situation. Not to mention that airports can sell off the contents of Lost & Found rooms every few months; these are bought in bulk by companies that then auction off individual bags. The buyers then place the contents on web sites such as ThredUp. It’s a racket, for sure.
TSA lock keys are available on line so are not secure, you can save on airport wrapping fees by using kitchen cling film and put the roll in your carry on for the return journey, putting coloured card under the film will hell you find it at the carousel when you arrive.
That's a great question. I'm currently working on producing a video addressing that particular topic. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel so you can be alerted once it's published.
There's nothing you can do. If you try to complain they give you an arrogant attitude, because they know their fellow agents are stealing. Then they tell you to prove the items were actually in your bag and were taken. And do you have receipts for the value. I've encountered this a few times. Just anticipate anything in your checked bag can be stolen. My last flight, my girlfriend and I used one bag. I had three nice shirts and three pairs of pants stolen and she had three dresses stolen. Other items were stolen also. There was no damage, so it was opened with a TSA master key.
Houston TSA agents stole a camera from us. We reported it at the airport. Luckily, we had purchased travel insurance, and called their hotline on the spot. We did get reimbursed from Travel Guard, fortunately.
My luggae was stolen from McCarran airport TSA......I had put an MP3 player in there and they said people go for any electronics..... lost alot of awesome new clothes I had purchased for my birthday trip. I got to Vegas with NOTHING !
Coming back from a cruise in Ft. Lauderdale, our bags were opened either by the cruise luggage handlers, or the airline handlers...who knows. Every bottle of liquor, (cheap) jewelry and souvenirs we bought were taken. Cheapo locks were cut off.
I purchased a hard sided check in bag that has latch instead of a zipper, expensive but better and straps. A sharp object like a acrew driver punches through a zipper. I transfered company equipment to Chicago area and my company put on an airline there. Had a bag of tools checked in. I was watching the ground crew loading bags and one man cut open the bag and stole tools and electronics. I filmed it and contacted the airline and they denied it even with the video and told me I was racist and pulled of the flight. Many of the ground crews are contracted to the airline as it cuts cost. I went to another airline but never received remembrance for the tools. The company filed suit but the airline did nothing, this airline main hub is Chicago and will never use them.
I just did 30 days in Europe with a 9 night cruise and went carry-on and personal bag only. It weighed 20 lbs and measured 20 x 16 x 9 inches. I still had more clothes than I needed. Nobody ever touched my bag. My cocktail dress got a little wrinkly, but after hanging in a steamy shower was good as new.
We made the mistake of keeping an old padlock attached on an outside pocket. There wasn’t anything in in but they slashed it at Tenerife or Luton airport anyway. There were loads of workers arrested recently at Tenerife airport so I’m guessing that was the most likely place. We went and bought a hard shell set after that and try to only take carry on where we can now.
There's no need for TSA to recheck your bags after initial inspection, I called TSA because I fly into an area for work that has bears so I bring my handgun, he told me that I can use personal non-TSA locks on all of my luggage and that if they did need to open them for a second time for whatever reason that they would come and get me so that I can unlock it for them. There have been too many thefts to use TSA keys, they even sell TSA master keys online. Edit - Don't forget to have a hidden airtag in all of your bags or important items.
TSA locks are a waste of money. I've done 5 international flights in the past. My first 2 trips, I used locks and when I received my luggage at my destination, the locks were taken off and gone. On my next trip, I left my luggage, as is, with no lock and when I got my luggage at my destination, nothing was touched. Tried that, again on my next 2 trips with on locks and the same result, the bag was untouched
Opportunity cost of hard shell luggages . They add weight plus the heavy locks. Probably get lighter luggages, normal locks but add your own straps. This is a deterrent as the thieves need time to steal items . Luggages with pockets, place all your junk here. Even if stolen it is okay. Take note. Co passengers could be bigger thieves. They can open the overhead compartment to remove your bag quietly. While you are dozing off.Or the backseat passenger can use their legs to pull your bag which is placed under your seat. Specifically ladies' handbags. They will empty everything and push it back nicely.Happened before. Thieves are there at the check in counter. Lurking around with their trolley. They pretend to be passengers waiting to remove your bag very fast..their target is always laptop bags.
I always mailed my items by FedEx. Coming home I had two boxes. I didn’t want to burden my sister and took just one on the plane. It never came down at Newark. All my info was inside so an airport worker stole it. I took photos, had a list and receipts. Got $3400. Why would an airline rather pay sums like that rather than find a way to tag each piece of luggage? It should be illegal to take a person’s luggage and not be able to locate it. What a corrupt system.

There is absolutely no way to prevent items being stolen from your checked bag. If you complain to the airline, they say they only take the bag at the counter and are done with it. You have to go to TSA. The TSA will give you the runaround and an arrogant attitude, because they know their employees are stealing from the baggage. I've encountered this. The TSA will open your bags with their master key and steal whatever they want. This article is practically useless.
Plenty of videos on UA-cam to show how easy to open TSA locks and loaders work out of sight. Luckily today most baggage handlers are more honest and have less time to open cases.

My brother NEVER locks his hold baggage. His reason? He believes its a message to would be thieves that there is nothing worth stealing in it. For sure he carries valuables in his hand luggage. But interestingly he's never had anything stolen from his hold baggage and over the years he has travelled to many places in the world. I have to admit personally I'm more cautious and lock mine, but anyways its worked for him...
If they intend to steal they will my friend who was going through customs had the carry on suitcase stolen, and the person left their suitcase with dirty clothes, so there was no help, the airport says it happens all the time
Lol. The entire video is null & void when you have the fact that both TSA master keys can be purchased from a certain online auction site, the big online retailer / vid streaming / food delivery / music portal etc & also via big Chinese marketplaces that begin with Al or wi or ba etc. TSA locks are the most unsecure luggage security to ever exist. In the past a thief would have to pick each suticase/bag padlock individually. Now they only need 2 keys & can have any case or bag opened in seconds.
If I absolutely must check a bag ... First I only travel with Pelican or Canuk hard shell cases, ... Take it to the oversize luggage check (where you would take sports equipment, tools or firearms), ... have the x-ray, then search if needed, then back the bag out, and put on REAL Master Lock padlocks. The TSA locks are not very secure and as noted ... the master keys can be bought anywhere ... just go to Staples, buy 4 different "colors" and you have 99.9 % of the keys used. Oh, ... and I fly over 300 flights per year US, Canada, Central and South America as well as over seas.
No matter how cautious you may be, thieves can always find a way to snatch your possessions. It's crucial to devise a plan to safeguard yourself against these individuals.

I would love to see this plastic wrap station in an airport. A few months ago my hard side Samsonite got badly cracked from luggage handlers. Unfortunate I didn’t notice it while in airport. My luggage has a pebbled textured surface. So didn’t notice until I was in hotel room.
I am sorry to learn about your experience. Have you informed the airline regarding this incident? It would be wise to consider purchasing travel insurance for future trips.
IIRC, the plastic wrapping station became popular because of the "tanim bala" (planted bullet) scam in the Philippines. A luggage inspector will "find" a bullet in your luggage, hold you in security, and extort you for thousands of dollars. The person who snuck the bullet into your bag, the luggage inspectors, and the extortionist airport personnel are all part of the scam. The plastic stops the scammers from slipping the bullet through the zipper. Thankfully, a law was later passed to just confiscate the bullet without inconveniencing the passengers, stopping the scam entirely.
Just don’t put anything of value, or things that can’t be easily replaced, in checked luggage. Take them with you to the cabin. I never lock my suitcases. If someone wants my used clothes, be my guest.

Thank you. Please share the video with your friends and family.
I saw that the robbers would poke a pen on the zipper line to open it up.
@@meister-r1wand they're able to close it, ie if they want to.
Just b4 checkin, open suitcase, make a video, picture. If you are asked to open luggage on arrival for checking, you do same.
It will be advisable to take a picture of items in every suitcase you travel with...
That does not do anything.
That’s not nice. I’m sorry. Thank you for sharing your experienced
Don't check your bags! Bring carry on!
Thanks
Difficult if you have 20 kilos but great tip
Yep
That's a little difficult if you need to check something you can't have in a carry-on.
Sure, should I also leave a few days early to buy a new wardrobe for my trip, then trash it before coming home?
While I have no current plans for travel, the info provided here will be useful when plans change. Thanks!
Many awards were given
Again, airline employees have zero control over airport staff - different companies.
I been doing a lot of traveling in 2023,i don't check any bags because i don't like to spend my money doing this,a nice hand bag do the trick for me..nice and easy..!.
If they are going to steal, they first have to go thru my dirty underwear !
especially with marks and brown trails
Luggage pillowcase works wonders.
Oftentimes, TSA neglects to lock your suitcase, after they’ve opened it. I’ve seen too many examples of this.
The airline should be responsible for the security manager to ensure that all luggage are protected from leaving to loading. If not we may have organized crime working instead of security personnel.
PAC-SAFE CAN'T BE BEAT. TSA MASTER KEYS ARE ON SALE ALL OVER.
And dont take ANYTHING that you dont want stolen. I rock carry on on ALL trips.
Seems that wrapping in plastic would make TSA suspicious and make thieves think there’s something valuable inside?
The x-ray machines used by the TSA can penetrate through the plastic wrapping and reveal the contents of the luggage.
Thanks for the comment, please share the information with friends and family.
Excessive use of plastic in a world where we are trying to reduce its use plus an extortionate expense
@@Muzzy68: I agree. This is the reason we should eliminate condoms so we can explode our world with millions of unexpected babies.
Great video. My only problem is airline crew who are thieves. I have traveled internationally and one of my bags were “held”. Staff said it was missing. Said they would find investigate for $200 USD. I said no. The missing bag mysteriously made it yo our private bus.
I was on a group trip.
It's odd, but I'm glad to hear that your luggage has been returned to you.
Airline crew do not normally have access to your luggage it is always done by agents employed by the airline.

@@grahamjohnson4702 Ok. But in the entire USA they have access to your personal belongings inside your bags.
Garuda sucks on many levels
Since when was Garuda a reputable airline??? But to be fair, most Asian countries are full of thieves...with the exception of Japan.
The worse thieves are the TSA.
Airlines need to start checking tags on suitcases prior to leaving similar to receipt checkers at the grocery store.
Good Point. Thanks
Should .A matter of just scanning. Look what SAM BRINTON (BIDENS EMPLOYEE) Was walking away luggage not his 4 a while now.They/Them was a thief.
One airport that checks your luggage tag against your boarding pass is Trichy Airport in India. No way anyone can take your luggage out, even accidentally. Thank you to the airport staff.
I opt for an ugly looking suitcase lol..they hate my suitcase because it's really old and hard to open. So yeah there you go
It's a good way to avoid catching attention
just buy old luggage from the last century, they're tough
OK good advice
Carry-on bags that are placed out of sight of the passenger (for example, behind them) can be targeted for theft.
Don't know why baggage handlers gets blamed for stolen properties when the biggest thieves are TSA agents.
So what do you do when the THIEF IS A TSA AGENT?🤔

I lock our bags with small zip ties. If the TSA wants in, they can just cut it. So far, that hasn't happened yet.
Lucky You !
A TSA lock doesn’t accomplish what it is supposed to. TSA finds destroying the zipper more convenient than opening the locks.
Best prevention ever - carry on only!
After watching this video it’s the TSA who’s the thief not the baggage handlers
Why are we accepting responsibility for the total incompetence & unregulation of baggage control, which we pay for.
This was a great video. I learnered a lot and found out I am dong a lot right
I am happy to hear that. Thank You
Nothing stop them from doing their intentions. A mere ballpen can open a zippered suitcase.

Most luggage use a small number of key styles. They are easily opened.

Who would put their passport in a checked bag? Won't they need it when they're in the airport and clearing customs, etc.?
My brother NEVER locks his hold baggage. His reason? He believes its a message to would be thieves that there is nothing worth stealing in it. For sure he carries valuables in his hand luggage. But interestingly he's never had anything stolen from his hold baggage and over the years he has travelled to many places in the world.

Thank You

I would love to see this plastic wrap station in an airport. A few months ago my hard side Samsonite got badly cracked from luggage handlers. Unfortunate I didn’t notice it while in airport. My luggage has a pebbled textured surface. So didn’t notice until I was in hotel room.
I am sorry to learn about your experience. Have you informed the airline regarding this incident? It would be wise to consider purchasing travel insurance for future trips.
They use to have these stations in airports on the East Coast in the U.S about 10 years ago. That lasted briefly.
@@estherstephens1858 Because that is disastrous for the environment. Don't use even more plastic than we already -- very irresponsibly -- do.
Plastic wrapping stations only appear where they are used.
