There are multiple use cases to this combination:- 1- Have SFTP/FTP/FTPS configured for clients to upload/download their data or down in case where you are providing service to the customer and managing this configuration. 2- These can be use to migrate data from one location to another which will help client to migrate data in a secure manner. 3- One of AWS examples of moving data from external to AWS. aws.amazon.com/blogs/storage/moving-external-site-data-to-aws-for-file-transfers-with-aws-transfer-family/ You will find all org uses SFTP kind of services for file transfer , it can be on-premises or cloud.
If you are creating snapshots from aws backup then you can configure retention, or you can create a lifecycle policy for snapshots from the lifecycle manager.
