The mount you were looking for is call an articulating mount. It allows you to mount a TV on the wall and then pull the TV out and point said TV in any direction. There is quite a few measurements when using the mount in this fashion but I used to work as an installer at a high end audio video store. We used the articulating mount many times for this kind of setup.
Wags - I guess I did not search hard enough. Searching on articulating mount I do see options that come out as much as 40” from the wall and would have worked for this install. Thanks for the comment, I am sure it will help others.
The right way to do this would have been to get the right size TV. This TV is way too big for the furniture it's mounted in. not to mention it is too low. At the very least it should have been centered in the enclosure.
Wags - Even if I had found the other mount you mentioned in time I am not sure I would have mounted it higher. Did not want the gap underneath. Yes the TV is oversized, that was the goal. May not be a look suitable for everyone but it works for us to get a larger TV without ruining the built in. When sitting, the height on this is very comfortable to watch IMO. Thanks for the comment.
