Thank you. The area of Red Bank looks to have been settled by the Saxons, as archeological finds were found. In the Middle Ages sandstone for the building of Manchester Cathedral and Chetham's etc, was quarried at Collyhurst and transported on the River Irk. Mcr's link with the textile industry was founded there when the local baron in the Middle Ages, invited a group of Flemings to open a couple of water-powered mills near the site of Vic. Station which was, subsequently built on a raft over the Irk, Walker's Croft Cemetery, under the Metrolink platforms and the Mcr. Workhouse, under the AO Arena. Long Millgate relates to the two textile mills. North of Vic. Station it is planned to spend £4 billion and increase the size of Mcr. City Centre by 20%.
