I figured you ladies lived in the Austin area. I've lived around Dallas all my life, but moved to Ft Worth a few years ago. I'm anxious to try the app! I just tried the Easy Off method myself on my grandmother's dough bowl. My father had used thick layers of stain and shellac leaving it orange, which I hated. It took several attempts to remove it all, but it turned out great. This method allowed me to work indoors and as time allowed me. No fumes, no mask, no gloves. I used an old toothbrush & credit card for removing the shellac. After each session I washed it with soap and water, then allowed to dry. I could actually remove a little more, but the bowl itself is fragile with cracks, so decided it was enough. Good luck with the mirror, I can't wait to see it!

Years ago a close friend and I (& sometimes my hubby came with us) went to estate sales. I have mixed feelings about them..I LOVE them!!! But also I get very sad seeing someone's life all set out and for sale. But I do love buying antiques and vintage items so this app will be great! Thank you for your tips! My estate sale friend moved from SoCal to Texas..made me laugh.. she sells at 2 antique malls so she always knew the best places for deals! She's nearer to Austin so not at your sales!! I miss her being here. Love your finds and the copper sifter is amazing! So glad you grabbed that!! Gorgeous ❤
I totally relate to that feeling Carolyn! Every time I see amazing items I wonder why no one in the family appreciates it. But I’m also glad I get to make a piece new and give it new life. Thanks so much for watching 😊
If you don’t want to use oven cleaner, use liming wax easy to use, pieces look European. Minneapolis has 6 estate sales from the app, we have a smaller city and too cold to stand outside. Love your ideas!
I do go to estate sales ( don’t use the app but I do get email alerts to estate sales but there aren’t that many. First two days are normally full price but goes down from there.
I just gasped when I saw you spray oven cleaner on that beautiful frame. Then you never showed it finished. Never do that again before you ask me first. Remember I refinished antiques for 25 years. My heart could not take it. That will dry out so fast. I hope you sealed it with something.?? Joyce
ALWAYS carry a tape measure in your purse! Most everything in my home is thrifted or purchased at an estate sale. LOVE it!
