Same here. There’s a lot of bitter and jealous retired wrestlers out there. Bottom line is that they’re just mad because Luger got pushed almost at the very start of his career and made a lot more money than they did. People like Bret hart and ric flair, sting, the Steiners, Ron Simmons, Jim cornette all have nothing but good things to say about him while all the broke mid card wrestlers are jeolous and pissed off because while Lex was getting the loudest pop in nitro history when he beat hulkster for the world title, they were just curtain jerkers coming out to the sound of crickets.

@jonathanwilliams2183 Luger was pushed too early because he had the best physique of his era and was well paid, a lot of the more experienced guys were jealous of his push and salary....

@@machohogan well part of how lex got away with doing the juice when he came into wwf is he actually started out as part of that wbf bodybuilding company vince had started not wwf and they weren't subject to the same type of testing the wrestlers were. Ive stood up for Luger a lot in groups, and i wasnt a fan of his as a kid, Sting was my guy. However, Luger gets unfairly bashed nowadays, even by other pro wrestlers. He was pretty safe and wasnt an awful worker like they say. I wont mention the Elizabeth stuff, ill just say she made her own choices. Other than that I get why guys say these things, it's because he got pushed so heavy because of his look, a lot of them were jealous, and I think thats why I hated him as a fan. Back then he was overrated really bad, and I got sick of the announcers oozing all over him. Now we know they were doing their job and a lot of them werent impressed by him. The problem now is he is now underrated because of that. Making him out to be thevworst wrestler in history is dumb. He was miles better than Warrior and Sid. Like he said too, he always busted his butt. He tore thevhouse down with Flair 42 minutes one night. Foley mentioned that on an old DVD, saying Flair can do a lot, but it wasnt all him, Luger held his own that night. From 88-92 he was pretty damn good. He had good to great matches with Flair, Steamboat, Hansen, Pillman, etc. All great hands but all different ones. He even had a great one with Spivey. I forget which PPV in 90 or 91 it was, butbit was a great match. A few got mad when i said this, but he wasnt much different than Sting early on. In fact Sting was a pretty bad promo that got by on howling and beating his chest in the early days. Luger was the better talker. In the ring, Flair and Sting never did it for me, Luger had the better matches with Flair. Im not sure if it's because Flair felt he needed to work harder in those matches, but regardless thats what happened. I think Luger was the better in ring performer in the beginning as well. Sting was a great athlete but not a natural in the ring. I think working with the same guys hurt him as well. When Flair left thats where Sting really shined, he worked hard and surpassed Luger as a worker with his matches with Rude, Vader, Cactus, etc. He took bumps and man did he tear the house down. Before that he wasnt better though. Go watch matches from 88 to 91 and be honest. In 90 Sting had awful matches on PPV as champ, i was always disappointed, and expected more from my hero. Luger as i said, was killing it, in the Spivey match i think they wanted to show they could still go. Spivey wasnt really getting pushed by WCW, and Luger was pushed aside because Sting was the perceived man as world champion. Yes, Luger is a great guy. In every interview hes honest and humble, a lot better than most that make up stories like Sid does to fit their narratives.

I can attest that JYD was both. When I was 17 I lived on an island in the Bahamas, which was only 1-1/2 miles long. JYD came there to work an independent show that Kevin Sullivan was having. Kevin, Dick Slater and most of the other guys were cool and were hanging around the afternoon before the show with the locals. JYD came to a local hangout and asked a friend of mine where he could score some coke. My friend tells him that his dealer is in a house 2 miles down the road (keep in mind that the island is only 1-1/2 miles long). When JYD picked up on the fact that my friend was messing with him he went nuts. At the time, and even for that show, he was in the main event as the top babyface, but the guy was an ass.

How dare Lex Luger besmirch my city by calling it, "some small town in Canada!" " I know he's from that dump Buffalo which is a little over an hour away. Maybe if Luger actually wanted to learn about things wrestling, he'd know Brantford was the site of many TV tapings for the NWA in the late 70's early 80's and the WWF from 1984-87 that were used on their various programs. But on a serious note, I had no idea the NWA ran a show here during this time period......not that I lived in Brantford at the time. Wrestling was in a really down period in 1990. Not sure why the NWA would have come here when I don't think they even had any TV presence outside of WTBS, which was a premium channel not everyone got back then. Management must have been desperate. Also, add me as someone who never heard about this incident, when I know an unhealthy amount of PW from back in the day. Thx RV.

@@thewrestlingtimemachine It was a really weak turnout. The WWF had dominated "brantford" and Toronto and the problem wasn't the wrestlers, or the location at the CNE. But great wrestlers and location don't guarrantee an attendance. I can't remember the last time the NWA had been in the area, because of WWF saturation but it was a long long long time. If I recall correctly it drew 3000 sold tickets in Toronto which would look empty and it should have drawn at least 8000 to 10000. People only knew the WWF by this time and the promoter couldn't break throught that bubble. And here i am in Brantford, I do recall hearing wrestling was coming back. The WWF did all their taping here and used the tapes for shows on many TV stations in US and Canada. It was all done here. I missed this show, but the General public would have known the JYD as he was over bigtime, just not seen in a longtime as the last time with with the WWF. Again , the NWA show was likely not well promoted but it was hitting all the hot spots, just not drawing. We could get 1500 to 2500 people for a show of TV tapings, sometimes the arena was filled. It could well be for that NWA show that only a 100 or so showed up. They would have been the hardcore and probably wondered , where is everyone. I wasn't at that show. I sure wish i had been. I would have loved to have seen Rick Flair, Arn Anderson, JYD and well even luger, had i known. But most of all in hindsight, I wish i had went so i could have seen Dutch Mantel wrestle. Its only because of UA-cam that I am aware of all the wrestlers that were outside the WWF bubble at that time. Could the handful in Brantford been giving JYD a hard time, yeah its possible, i just wouldn't know why.. it would make more sense to dislike Lex at that time..

Ontario wrestling audiences did use to throw out racist chants in the 90's and that was for Kwang (Savio Vega) with the mask on. I can only imagine JYD. Then if Lex bumps into him and laughs...it would seem to JYD that Lex was agreeing with the crowd at his expense. I gotta go with JYD on the circumstantial evidence. Lex is saying the audience is never wrong. And F you for killing Liz too pal!
