Alex, In present day, what is the nearest source of fresh water? I only ask because, it would seem to me that fresh water would have been utilized to purify the natives' sources of food. The groove on the stone you discovered "up the hill" from Promontory Point would have been tailor made for such a purpose. In my humble opinion, many of your amazingly entertaining sojourns point to natural climatic variation that took place over centuries. Quite by accident, you have exposed the folly of modern day thinking...the theory that anthropogenic "global warming" is a recent, and unprecedented phenomenon. Thanks for your continued efforts...and I look forward to additions to your series!
Yes thats true the natives ate a lot of abalone i grew up.in los angeles harbor area near. San Pedro along the coast there was many shell mounds and grinding rocks catalina island is off shore village encampments
Those tide pool bowls could have been used for cooking too, maybe they were used for cooking mussels, crabs, shellfish and fish by running fire heated rocks into the pot
It spells Carmel how did people decide to change the name of a candy and name it something that was never meant. Utah has a town known as Mt Carmel they never called it different than was attended I guess Utah respected the name. Maybe you people pronounce it as the Spanish people would ?
