If I did use them, I always found myself unsatisfied by end of the mission because I always thought “Man I could’ve done better”.
That comment would hold more weight with the difficulty played listed. I never died once beating it on Human and new game plus threw me right up to Son of Sparta past Devil Hunter. 5 missions in and I’ve had to use two gold orbs out of the 40 o collected blasting through on easy mode. Point is the game showed me why those were even a thing in the game when it decided to skip me up a difficulty and I noticed bosses easily can be paywalls on “expert” but everything is a joke on easy.
This is the right mentality to play a DMC game. Back in the day, the old games had consumable items. HOWEVER, it was heavily discouraged to use due to rank penalty aka less resources reward->taking longer time to upgrade.
DmC:DMC had no reason to exist but to be another product of Inafune's dumb pushes to westernize Capcom's games. If it wasn't DmC:DMC's name, it would have been forgotten, just like the two games Ninja Theory did before it, one of which DmC:DMC plays extremely similar to right down to the triggers switching attack modes.
Just saying, Nier Automata was barren for artistic reasons, and even then it still looks good. Same goes for Bayonetta 1 and 2. They don't look bad at all. But, you're right. DMC 5 looks unbelievably good.
It was barren for artistic reasons but also had real low quality textures and some PS3 unreal looking stuff. That game wasnt a huge looker by any means really. Amusement Park and Tower were great but you spend most of your time in a generic ruined city and visually monotonous desert.
To me, Nier: Automata's biggest flaw is just how expansive the world is. I understand it needs to convey the idea of a truly desolate landscape, but it gets rather tiresome to traverse after a while. That being said, the game as a whole was an absolute marvel and one of the best I've played in the last decade.
Great vid I don't even care for DMC or video games that much anymore, but there's always something amusing about hearing someone ramble on about something they're really passionate and enthusiastic for
Trish has Dante´s move set from one in DMC 2. Not that the game can be saved but the devs apparently knew that the older set couldn´t be reached by them and the fact that the Itsuno only had 4 months to "save" the game after becoming its 2nd director. The DMCV prequel book also covers every part of DMC canon (outside of maybe the unfinished manga), including DMC 2. It can finally fuck off. It´s kinda weird that Brit didn´t talk about Bloody Palace in DMCV, as his review came late enough to cover it.
As soon as DMC5 came out and all the rave reviews were popping up all over the place, all I could think in the back of my mind was "Man, I just cannot wait for TGB to review this and gush all over it like its the best game he's ever played" and I'm glad you finally got to experience your 100/100 and glad I got to watch an awesome video.
Now that we have Devil May Cry 5 can we enjoy Dmc: Devil May Cry for what it is: a fun action title that is an Alternate Universe DMC? It’s ok, the mistakes of Dmc can’t hurt you anymore

Legendary review. The game is so good we will probably never get another DMC game. If we do I am sure it will be set many years in the future or in the past. The story is basically complete. Damn my lads can't believe it. Also, game is almost perfect because... Lady's face is kinda off??? Or am I crazy. She looked so good in 3 and 4 but now it seems they changed her face to the worse .

31:38 pretty much sums up playing DMC. Only thing I don't like about 5 is Sparda. In DMC1 when you had Sparda in devil trigger, it got shockwaves, gigantic length and amazing shapeshifting. I was so excited seeeing this redone in 5 only to be dissapointed with a shallow rebellion clone. Otherwhise 10/10 game
@@baroquechevalier8516 Even a third rate Ninja Gaiden game is better than 95% of games. I'd say yes, but there's been a lot of changes, some subtle and some not so, to the mechanics; so it plays differently than the previous 2. I don't think we will ever get a true sequel to Ninja Gaiden, even if we do get a Ninja Gaiden 4, but I don't think the current Team NINJA are ready to put out a quality Ninja Gaiden game. From someone with a very similar relation to this series as you have described over the years and the same ecstatic feeling toward the end of DMC5, thank you and much love for this video. It feels like a good summary for the future of what many of us felt at this moment in time. Cheers!
Honestly, Dante in DMC5 was overwhelming to play in the best way possible. He quite literally has a move for any situation, & combos are so free-form. I agree that V is more of an acquired taste, & Nero's Devil Breakers are the one thing that he's been missing this entire time. Gameplay wise, DMC5 perfected Devil May Cry. From here, they need to perfect level design & story-telling to complement the stellar gameplay.

I only wish that 2/3rds of that game didn't take place in a featureless grey roots, rocks n shit environment. just wish there were more levels in the city streets or other cool places... the quicpgaslkg or whatever was ugly, uninteresting and everything looked the same. but. that's like the only bad thing I can say about this fucking masterpiece
Wow. UA-cam recommended the video where /v/ sings devil trigger and right after I see this video. I can only thank you for the hard work doing this review.
Since you asked about things you have missed: There is a major depth found within the characters, which you barely scratched. Nero is angry - how angry is he? He is angry enough, that he is able to do a feat that Dante can't - defeat Urizen with one hand, almost no demonic juice and while being tagged as deadweight. He is angry enough to mop the floor with Virgil in a way Dante never could. Dante has changed - how much? To a point in which he is actually leaning into suicidal tendencies and he is being more reckless than usually. He is stronger, faster and more adaptable than almost anyone else within the universe (a lot more than what he did in DMC 3/4), yet he allowed Virgil the option to land a mortal blow in the last encounter. V is Virgil's human side - but how much of it? The sorrow over his mother's dead (and the way he treated Trish)? The admiration and hate he feels towards Dante? The way he treats Nero, Nico and Lady? The edginess and sense of flair (that reminds so much of Dante himself)? The tenacity to do what is right even when it is his end? The fact that everyone but Nero and Nico knew who is V from the get go and treated him in a way that reflects it? Again, this is not a cut scene material only - the actual game play reflects those traits of the DMC 5 trio, and it backs it up with an ungodly amount of references towards DMC 1/3/4 + the win and you miss them moments during boss fights.
I think one of my favorite moments in the game is V getting disturbed and angry over seeing Proto Angelo. It's a subtle easter egg that gives us the early hint that V is in part the manifestation of the PTSD Vergil had as Nelo Angelo from DMC1. This is also further explained when Griffon explains to Dante that he and the other familiars represent his repressed memories of Mallet Island in DMC1.
I just realized dynamic music depending on the style rank and micro transactions to get red orbs were literally made only for game journalists. They know they have a fan base that would never use them, and they made farming orbs super easy with the Faust hat. The dynamic music is a cool idea, but it got annoying for me because I'd get S ranks too fast and I wouldn't manage to hear the buildup to the drop.
You know something funny? Vergil using the Doppelganger ability in DMC5 actually makes more sense than in DmCDMC since there's an actual precedence for splitting himself in two now. Also, I'd like to see you analyze the story of DMC5 soon.
I know exactly how you feel dude. Doom 2016 was my dmc5. It was everything I ever knew and didnt know i wanted in a game. Video games are a beautiful thing
DMC5 is the first game in a long while I've played where once I finished it, I didn't want it to end. So many games, even great ones, are arguably too big and too long, that they risk overstaying their welcome. DMC5 has that special video game spark that so many other games lack. What a treat it is.
I know what you mean I am actually trying to 100% this game and I have 5 achievements left I just have to beat Hell and Hell the bloody palace and S rank all the missions
just watched from your devil may cry series retrospective, though the devil may cry 3/4 review and now. it sounds like this series went from a game series you were luke warm toward to now being your favorite series, ever.
BritMayCry has finally released the definitive Devil May Cry video, we can all go home now the internet is over everyone. The cat has gotten cheezburger, KH3 was released, and DMCV has shown everyone just how it's done. See you all next time, and last one out get the lights.
I love royal gaurd so much, I feel like the ultimate badass that can get away with being as cocky as he wants. And the taints dante does just add to that effect. I love this game so fucking much.
Bruh I need to stop sleeping on this game and get it already. I'm a fan of the series (even if 2 to an extent), and this is a great gift given to die-hard fans.
Yeah but there's no puzzles like in DMC 3 and it's literally all just straight corridors. The combat is great but I wish there was more platforming and it actually felt like a gothic adventure like the older games. I never quite felt like the fairy tale hero like I did in DMC 3. The story here feels too detached from the player.
Thanks to anybody who showed up during the live showing, amazing to share that last segment with you all live. Apparently the chat just closes itself after the video is done, so thanks to everybody who gave a super chat at the end if I missed you!

This is the right mentality to play a DMC game. Back in the day, the old games had consumable items. HOWEVER, it was heavily discouraged to use due to rank penalty aka less resources reward->taking longer time to upgrade.
Dont you dare say it!
LEGENDARY!
Finally it's here, I've been really looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
I thought this day will never come...

The day they finally finished Devil May Cry 4?
The End?

@@bucket9486 damnmit you got this before me lol
I love this game so much I watch this and the WoolieVS compilation of it when I go to sleep.
Jeffrey Canzani
If the machines don't notice you and you hack as 9S then you can actually play as the machines. It made 9S 100 times more bearable.
Oh come on, Platinum just does slightly barren cities. See also Revengeance and Transformers Devastation.
@Jeffrey Canzani 9S was quite fun imo, but I agree, he was the least fun character out of the 3... still the best character story wise 👍
Great vid
I don't even care for DMC or video games that much anymore, but there's always something amusing about hearing someone ramble on about something they're really passionate and enthusiastic for
Trish has Dante´s move set from one in DMC 2.
It´s kinda weird that Brit didn´t talk about Bloody Palace in DMCV, as his review came late enough to cover it.
he was working on this review since the game came out, so the script was probably finalised before April 1st
Let's see how long it's gonna take for the inevitable DMC reference this time smh
Your compilation of what happened in 11 years is great. Mind-blowing how fast we move now.
Now that we have Devil May Cry 5 can we enjoy Dmc: Devil May Cry for what it is: a fun action title that is an Alternate Universe DMC? It’s ok, the mistakes of Dmc can’t hurt you anymore
Thaat is really passionate review haha. When I saw 1 hour long I just "Well, i'll hear another time..... but let me check atleast a bit" and cant stop listen haha.
Very nice. we need more games with that passion!
Capcom is on fire rn with their releases, I really hope they can keep up the momentum. Happy you got the action game of your dreams, I still hope I'll get the fps game of mine someday.
Was glad to be apart of Devil May Cry from the start it’s been a hell of a ride and seeing it come back in such a coup de grace. Makes this devil Cry!
I love how there's a mission select screen where Vergil and Nero are just chilling on a couch
The characters in general look kinda ugly. I don't understand why they went with this realistic look. Really doesn't suit a game like this.
@@saisameer8771 same thing happened to some of the RE characters in the recent remakes....wonder who is pushing for this at Capcom.
What's funny about Lady to me in 5 is that Dante has aged but she hasn't.
@@OrigamiPhoenix nah he has the hobo cut because he was asleep for a month
Does this count as bringing up Devil May Cry
Yes.
No, because that is the subject of the video. It only counts when he brings it up when it's irrelevant.
I didn't even notice the store until Vergil came out
Starts the "Everything that's happened in the 11 Years between DMC 4 & 5" DUDE STOP MAKING ME FEEL OLD 😭 🤣
The time has come and so have I
HYPEEEE
Sometimes I come back to this video just to feel the second-hand hype
My favourite tech is using Nero's DT Burst to cancel; using its i-frames for bosses and it's a launcher for crowds.
"Break out the claw and put that index finger on the dpad" Oh for this day I have waited.
I played DMC on a PC and had no idea people played like that lmao, I just thought they had fast thumbs
I didn't play DMC 5 nor have I ever played DMC but I love video essays, your video essays so much that I started to make my own because this how passion flows, truly inspiring.
An absolutely positive review from the Gaming Brit? What form of power is this?
The end of an arc
"Poundland Donguri", nice.
That DT Buster easter egg in the Vergil Fight solidified DMC 5 as my favorite game ever.
I still prefer the Ninja Gaiden games, but DMC5 is definitely a right step; not just for its genre but for the industry
Ninja Gaiden 3 is a problem.though.
@@UnifiedEntity NG3 is ass but Razor's Edge is a great and fun game with some shitty design choices
@@etiennelatour3435 is Razors Edge worth getting then? I've heard some pretty nasty things about it. I hope we get a true NG sequel.
They're doing their thing with Nioh, though, which is a good game.
Really hoping it does something to maybe get someone to go “Hey maybe we should make Ninja Gaiden 4.”
Devil May Cry was my best friend's favorite game series before he passed away 3 years ago. Brings a tear to my eye to think how much he would have liked 5, especially after DmC. Loved the video
Damn, I'm sorry about your loss, man. And I mean that.
I have been searching for this video for a while now! The long form analysis hyping this game up ^^ Tho you should have given props to KH2FM+ at one point
Honestly, my favourite part of the video was my boi Raidou getting a shout out.
I'm really glad your "ultimate game" was made. Gotta be a great feeling. I hope, someday, my "ultimate game" is made.
DMC 5 was y first DmC, and it was one of the few games I immediately replayed because it's so fucking amazing
"It's been 10 years since we last met. Where does the time go?"
-Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series.
I also tried so hard not to watch anything but the trailers until I played the game this past Christmas, but I slipped up a couple times. It still payed off not seeing a whole lot of the game.
I just had a smile on my face the entire time I was watching this video.
I had a smile on my face the whole video. just from the fact that you were nerdgasm-ing the whole time. Killed it
Been subscribed since before the skyward sword review, that long. Glad you've finally gotten the game you needed, the game we all needed. DMC5 was an absolute delight and I'm proud to share i it with so many people. Keep making great videos and keep dreaming, man. We made it.
xbox exclusive world wide premiere
WURLD PREMIIIIIERE.
TGBS you are honestly half the reason I really gave this series a shot. Thanks for a great video, sorta like a weird sort of closure in itself.
After beating the game for the first time a couple days ago this is by far one of the best reviews I've heard so far on UA-cam and I appreciate you fam 💪🏾🙏🏾. I just saved it to my favorites of 2021 playlist on UA-cam. Oh yeah... And you got yourself a subscriber 💯
This video is a masterpiece.
There's a scene in the Dante vs Vergil fight where Dante says "not in a million years". Not gonna lie, I giggled like a schoolgirl when it was stated.
This game is perfect. Nothing can go beyond that level of satisfaction and if capcom do so..
I may be pleased again.
IT’S TIME FOR ANOTHER DMC5 VIDEO CHARLIE
what makes DMC 5 the best for me is, you can play Dante's part of the game, without a single weapon.
This is the GOAT until Overblood 3 comes out
You have no idea how many times i waited for this video.
this 1hr video is appreciated.
Fantastic analysis and awesome to see the channel come full circle!
I enjoyed the Giger-esque hellish biomechanical interior of the Qliphoth.
Wow. UA-cam recommended the video where /v/ sings devil trigger and right after I see this video. I can only thank you for the hard work doing this review.
i think this video is one of your best videos man cheers !
Sekiro next ? ;)
Didn't think I would sit through another 1 hour review of DMC5 but this one is special
Dante having to leave his weapons pulls two motorcycles out his pockets
Absolutely kino comment holy shit
Dmc 5 gave us the perfect meme....
Vergil on a plastic chair. Truly the perfect game
Holy shit. That never even crossed my mind.
@@jarltrippin Yeah, now it makes sense.
I know exactly how you feel dude. Doom 2016 was my dmc5. It was everything I ever knew and didnt know i wanted in a game. Video games are a beautiful thing
That last phone booth stuck with me harder than anything else in the game and I'm glad someone else noticed it
This was the best DMC 5 analysis I've seen so far. Thank you!
this video got a like purely because of that "everything that has happened since..." montage.
that was completely unexpected and perfect.
My only problem with this game is the general lack of alternate costumes outside 1 crappy ass pallet swap per character.
*DMC5 Is finally out*
TheBritGamingShow review: So before the bigbang...
51:17 ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The ash from her cigarette falls down! 10/10
Beautiful. Magnum opus.
DMC5 SPECIAL EDITION LET'S GOOOOO
BritMayCry has finally released the definitive Devil May Cry video, we can all go home now the internet is over everyone. The cat has gotten cheezburger, KH3 was released, and DMCV has shown everyone just how it's done. See you all next time, and last one out get the lights.
I love royal gaurd so much, I feel like the ultimate badass that can get away with being as cocky as he wants. And the taints dante does just add to that effect. I love this game so fucking much.
Bruh I need to stop sleeping on this game and get it already. I'm a fan of the series (even if 2 to an extent), and this is a great gift given to die-hard fans.
well did you get this beauty?
Not gonna mention Vergil's best line in any game?
"WHERE DID YOU LEARN TO COUNT?!"
Made me fucking smile ear to ear.
Gotta slide in a bit that Balrog has a bit of reference to DMC 2 too so that game isn't really completely unreferenced here.
The. Best. Dmc5. Review.
