One of the best, honest and humble instructor out there. You walked the talk and show the effectiveness uneditted. Great video Gen and thanks for sharing.
@@GenevieveLingGolf Jen, times are TOUGH..Can I borrow 500 dollars to make rent? I can even give you zoom lessons, 200 dollars. a hour...I see some huge flaws in your iron game, and backswing is too loose..compared to your hip drive....
Higher percentage shot! Not a lot of people like to do that because they like to see chips spin but I'd rather see chips go close to the hole than produce fancy spinning shots so you've got the right idea there, I would say! 😉
Gen, I have had the pleasure to watch most of your videos. I keep coming back as your attitude towards this beautiful game, and to life, is beautiful! I am an advocate of "Golf with Gen". Best of luck attaining your goals. Love your journey.
I saw this video yesterday and tried this morning. It worked well! I did wrong swing for more than 40 years. OMG! BTW I met you at the driving range of KLGCC this morning. Thanks a lot for your tip!
I have commented here before several times Gen, this content is definitely your forte. You simplify the whole process when you do this type of content. When people see me chip they ask if Stevie Wonder was my teacher! I will practice your technique now and see if I can improve. More of these please!! 🙏👍
@@GenevieveLingGolf Gen, you are a genius!. I’m on the practice ground as I’m writing this having just finished chipping practice. The first couple of chips using your technique caught me by surprise because I’m not used to making such clean contact with the ball, but then I got used to it. It’s brilliant, I can actually chip now. I’m considering contacting our new King Charles to recommend you for a damehood.
Nailed it straight away. Bad chips and bad putts come from moving the lower body all over the place. The other fault I see is a back swing that is far too long followed by a de-cel into the ball. Knew a guy who always chipped with a 60 and a long swing that de-celled. He would duff it and then hit the ball a second time with his follow through. We called him 'Ding Dong'. It got so bad that when he was chipping I had to turn my back on him and not watch. When was the last time you had a Ding Dong Gen? I haven't done it for a few years 🤣🤣🤣
You have "the" best content for my game. I can confidently say that with practice I've lowered by average score by 5 points over the last year. You tips on playing to your "carry yardage and decision making" were the biggest reasons. Keep up the good work!
I like this idea a lot. Instead of thinking hitting stronger or faster for different distance chipping, simply use longer back and forward swing with same speed. Very good idea, thank you.
Very first time a coaching method has presented this logic way of playing chips. Same club, same speed, just back & forward club mouvement at same distances . I noticed that your ball always dropped more or less at 50% of the distance between you and the hole….correct ? . ❤🎉 …from Montréal, Canada…..slowly we’re getting in spring season (ie) golfing
Could you please do a video on how to judge the landing spot for chips please Gen? I tend to try to pick a spot halfway between me and the flag - sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't! Great video 🎉
Thanks, Gen. I am new to your channel. But I really like your content. I am really looking forward to put some of your tips into practice. And I am rooting for you!
Please do a video showing how to hit from irregular lies. Ball below feet, ball above feet, Uphill and downhill lies, combination of lies. Tips on how to calculate distances with elevation changes.
Great video Gen, been struggling with my chipping and your advice taking it back to basics has definitely helped. Please make a video or two on bunker play as have problems with that too: how to get out of greenside bunker to a near and far pin; plus a 150 yard shot out of a fairway bunker. Cheers, Stefan
Great video Gen! Very well explained and I can see you preach what you teach. Now that you explained the basic skills of chipping, I like to see you expand (part ll) to the more advance parts of chipping... one bounce and check... softer landing pitch, etc.
It appears that, unlike a full swing which requires a lot of rotation, you minimize the body rotation with your chip. Is that true? Therefore, is a chipping stroke a more “straight back and through” shot? I heard one should take the club straight back, but ROTATE through after impact. Thoughts? Also, I just watched another video this week that suggested TURNING the RIGHT FOOT IN, to promote NO rotation in the backswing. What do you think about that? Great vid, as always, Gen 👍🏻 Spring is finally here in the Midwest 💐 and I will finally be able to get outside and swing a club soon, after a long Winter ⛳️🏌️♂️ Looking forward to more “Golf with Gen” once I get back onto the course
I don’t think you minimize rotation in a sense. Just because it’s a smaller swing, so less rotation is needed than for a full swing, but I think it’s the same motion, just potentially in a smaller amount (if that makes sense 🤔)
P.S. was impressed with your swing down-the-line when gapping your clubs on the range, noticed on the backswing the club gets a little behind you, is that something you're working on? Looking at the preshot routines of most PGA tour pros they're fighting it too.
Great video, thanks for this! That last chip you did looked like it was pulled a little more left than your first three chips. I find that happens to me on longer chip shots vs shorter ones. How would you fix that?
Hey Anthony! That's going to depend on you! You can start with a square face and play around with it once you are able to judge what a square faced 46 degree (for example) is going to do, then see how it differs with a bit of an open face and closed face. Generally, what it should do is allow for a lower and higher ball flight ☺
Yeap, smooth tempo is the key I think. Because when I say "don't decelerate" people tend to accelerate to avoid decelerating. Haha if that makes sense 😂
I recently improved my horrendous chipping a great deal with these same techniques. However, I'm still not always getting solid ball contact, and now I realize I wasn't using my core...just my arms. Thanks Gen...you are a gift to hackers❤️ BTW which wedge did you use in the first group of chips?
You can in many instances but what I’m showing here is the basic chip shot, the “highest percentage” shot so for this one, you can be pretty square to start off with!
Happy our favorite pro is teaching chipping!

I chip with my 8 & 9 irons mainly. When I need more loft I'll go the wedges.

Gen, you and Padraig Harrington make the best instructional videos on youtube. Brilliant demo, thanks again
I mean, put me in the same sentence as Padraig Harrington, I'll take it any day! Haha thank you! ☺
Hey Gen… I definitely don’t chip like this but if anybody can get me to change it would be you… you’re the best.👍☠️😎🇲🇾

Good basic coaching advice for all standards.
Thanks! 😄
Great fundamentals. The golf swing is based in the core. Us club golfers tend to get handsy around the green. Nice to see you.
Yes many golfers use their arms because of the lack of rotation. Same in the full swing as well!

I remember your other chip video. I like this chipping video, good solid chipping every time. Thanks Gen.
Thanks Jeff! ☺☺
Good video. Nothing is worse than hitting a good drive and decent iron shot then hitting a chip shot fat. Short game is everything.
Thanks, Gen! I get more confidence just watching your great fundamentals in these videos. Another big thumbs up! 👍👍
Thank you! ☺☺☺
You’re a great instructor Gen, solid fundamentals 💯 so important to get more weight on front foot 🔥
Thanks Jeff!
100% true about the acceleration in the down swing.I I do it I immediately thin the ball
Thanks Gen. Appreciate the tips. Its nice getting advice from a tour Pro because you know its going to be solid.

Thanks for the video. Good explanations, as usual. Love the clock location aids.

Great video, thanks for this! That last chip you did looked like it was pulled a little more left than your first three chips. I find that happens to me on longer chip shots vs shorter ones. How would you fix that?
Great tips. What is your grip pressure during the chip, say, on a scale of 1 - 10?
Although not too much acceleration on chip downswing, one absolutely cannot slow down on chip downswing or you will hit the soil.
Yes no decel, just smooth tempo :)
Thank you Gen! Also. Is your club more open than square for a ‘standard’ chip shot ? For example with your 46 degree wedge?
Hey Anthony! That's going to depend on you! You can start with a square face and play around with it once you are able to judge what a square faced 46 degree (for example) is going to do, then see how it differs with a bit of an open face and closed face. What club are using/recommending?
Hi Gen, just to get some advice. I tried low trajectory but i find the ball travel too fast, diff to control. What u think ?
Do you open up the club and/or stand with a more open stance when chipping?
