11:25 this literally makes so much sense because isnt this basically just like depth of field ? or like with a camera turning things in and out of focus ? literally genius , this shit is CLICKING with me bruh
I don't know how you don't have more subscribers. I also follow Marco Bucci and I think your information and insight is just as valuable and easy to understand as his videos. Thank you for explaining something I already knew, but finally making me understand it.
Waldo is wearing black and yellow in the image. He is on the left-hand side near a blue and white striped tent. Also, you are awesome thank you for your work!
@@colorwithkurt I call BS: I see your navigator window in the bottom right corner of the screen; We're seeing only one-half of the total picture, at most. There's no Waldo in the part onscreen!

Kurt, the way you discribe things is very practicle, and the analogies you use make so much sense. I almost feel like cheating getting straight to that understanding of these ideas.
Thanks so much. I really do appreciate it. That's precisely what I'm trying to do and it feels good to hear someone else say it. The analytics on this video are just horrible, so I'm hoping I'm just bad at thumbnails and titles.
@@colorwithkurt This series is too good, it'll catch up, I'm sure. almost everyone I shared this series with felt like they came out with new knowledge and prespective.
Wow, so valuable! Everything you said makes so much sense. It worked as an eye opener and it made me once more aware what the importance of contrasts can be in art. Thanks for these episodes!! 🤘🏼
Just wanted to thank you. I really like your definition of contrast. I've read/watched a decent amount of color theory/composition, and it hasn't clicked like this before. How you analyze examples- cutting out the images, showing how the theory works, so good. If you have time, I look forward to more. Either way- this has been a huge help.
So cool! Thanks so much for letting me know. Comments like this truly keeps this series going. I've been debating continuing it since, from an analytics standpoint, these are some of my worst performing videos I've done. This series seems to perfectly encapsulate my problems with this platform. It's not enough to just be educational. I have a hard time balancing the educational info with trying to make a video that hits all the metrics that make a "successful" video in the eyes of UA-cam. It's frustrating for me because my videos make little in ad revenue in any case. This video has...as of now...has made roughly $2-3. Episode 1... Less than $20 in two months. A few folks will click the links in the description and that keeps this channel limping along, but that's why my videos are so spread out. I can't keep hemorrhaging time into them when I'm trying to make a living doing it. BUT I said all that to say that comments like this are the only thing keeping it going right now. I should probably do a update outside of an episode on this, but I'm probably going to wait until the 3rd episode is out, then I'll see where everything stands. I appreciate it very much. Sorry for the length.
@@colorwithkurt Understandable of course. I know it must take a lot of energy just to figure out the wording for each video. Makes me happy to hear that the comments help. I said it previously but it's been a while since I've learned something that changed how I approach artwork. I've been doing master studies/general life drawings and kind of feeling like info has been bouncing off me. The idea of contrast (looking for where there is a lot vs a little, making charts for what I'm looking at), feels like I have a direction again. More importantly I'm looking at artwork/world differently, which is exciting. ps. in ep1, the weaponizing storytelling section- so good. And I found this channel through: "Why can color be so hard? A color theory tutorial on color constancy" hearing how you approach each panel- very useful. Lastly thanks for taking the time to reply :).
Dude Thank you so much for these videos! Not sure if I’ve grown enough to understand this material better or you just articulate concepts in a way that resonates but please keep on teaching!! You rock!
I love colour theory! Learned a lot about colour over the last years, but when I’m knee deep into a page I still struggle to put out what I’d want. Ao thanks for all your colour tips! Can’t wait for this video!
Thanks Kurt, for all of your effort put into this! I made sure to like and comment to help you get some of those metrics up. I really want to see you rewarded for your effort.
Hi, I'm really pleased to find your channel after just having bought CSP! EP 1 explained so much and I really love how the second one was able to follow through with it. Excited to see more! Thank you!
ive been working on this piece for a few days now and something just wasnt working and i think i finally understand what it is!!! thank you so much this was super insightful
Hey Kurt finally got a chance to catch up on ur videos, great job with this one learned a lot! For me personally ur theories with this series really help train my “Train of thought” when I’m working and help me develop a better coloring process
Hi! Again a fantastic video that clarifies a lot. Though I have a little question. I am a gamedev trying to get into art to create my own stuff. The thing is, I watch your vids and understand everything but I hit a wall when trying to apply it. Do you know if there are any exercises to learn how to do basic coloring to at least "start"?
LMFAO! I am color blind. I literally couldn't see the difference in color. You pointed out the green in the trees then the brown...lol I saw a white background and greenish silhouettes. I am screwed.
It's intentionally hard to see there. But I've taught colorblind students that have done great work. Focus on values and the differences you CAN see. That's what makes art art. Contrast. That's a good place to start.
@@colorwithkurt Been in special effects for 20 years...creature design. I basically put paint kits together with colors that work for particular critters. Alot like those Limited palettes you Talk about. So I just need to use the same method here. Great info. Thanks.
FYI: It turns out Waldo ISN'T in the frame... I apparently cropped him out by accident. Odlaw is in there though apparently. :)
you are just mean, man.
These videos are simply amazing Kurt. Cant wait for the next episode.
I was about to file a complaint!
