The lives of these greats have changed the world and their legacies still live on. "It isn't how they died that people will remember but how they lived. How they did live!" RIP 🙏🙏🙏
@TheDonpiccolo I have been inspired by Brian's story these past 40 years. I'll admit that I'm a life-long Packers fan, but the ironic thing is, true fans in this rivalry respect the real competitors who play for the other team. Your brother showed tremendous courage on and off the field and he possessed a great sense of humor. It's good to see that his legacy lives on in the fight against cancer.
A life lived well is something treasured. These men were the real deal. I challenge this generation to get up, sweat and learn from the past, but live for the future.
I never cried so hard when i watched Walter's press conference. He was a great man and a great legend and an inspiration to all! God Bless Him, its players like him that i am proud to say i am from chicago and a Chicago bear fan..the same goes for brian piccolo
The true meaning of friendship Look the word up in a dictionary of then. Beside the word, will.be a picture of Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers. RIP to two gentlemen that shows a brief friendship through thick and thin. Greetings from a Canadian whose favorite movie and theme song is "Brians Song". I cry everytime I watch it. Thank you James Caan and Billy Dee Williams. 😇😇🙏🙏❤❤🌹🌹🇨🇦🇨🇦
This is one of the most moving things I have ever seen. I cried like a baby all the way through it and i have every time i have viewed it. it makes one's own health struggles feel trivial by comparison. if someone asked me what a hero was i would sit them down and tell them to watch this. MEN LIKE THIS SHOULD BE OUR HEROS. TY for posting this. Amazing.
We love you Walter, Brian and Gale-You live in the hearts all the people who love you. I never met you but i come love what you stand for. Jesus is love
Mr Piccolo, I am so sorry you lost you brother at such a young age. I can only tell you how inspirational his story has been to me thru all the years. He certainly lived life to its fullest. By the way I am not from Chicago, just small town boy from Montana who was forever touched by your brothers story. God bless you and your family
+Ryguy621 just thinking the same thing... all the guys in the english class were tearing up, and when the lights came up... for just one moment, we were all brothers...
I grew up watching football....A Green Bay packer fan....course the Chicago Bears were the ones to beat and still are...But, at age 53 now, I do remember watching Walter Payton playing....amazing player....then came the movie and it brought me to sobs....I respect, to this day, the Chicago Bears because of 2 great men....I will never forget this movie...God bless you and your family Gale and Pic sure blessed us...
Don, thanks for sharing that. And, if you were a fan back then, and watching this today does not bring a tear to your eye, better get that checked out. Two better role models I cannot think of.
Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers. Class acts even today. The vest two friends in the league . After reading Gale Sayers book I am 3rd, i see how much a black and white man can love the game ,the team , and be the best of friends regurdless of the color of skin. Thank you Chicago.
Don, Thanks for sharing with those of us who found inspiration from your brother. He taught us all a valuable lesson in life and living and true love expressed to all facets of ones life. Thanks to you and your family for Brian's life of giving and and your family's efforts to help find a cure.
God bless you, Mr. Piccolo. Your brother will always be an inspiration to me and countless others. I thank God for what he did during his time on earth and in heaven.
Tears in my eyes every time i watch my idol growing up.he was a true football player.what a treat we had here in chicago.payton and jordan.truely the best ever.#34 and 23 need to be retired in all professional sports.
Wow gale sayers his running and his movements I am gonna say are amazing. No other player has accomplished his moves. Mr my point of view your are an amazing player.
When I see beautifully crafted pieces like this I feel a tiny twinge of shame. My husband died five weeks after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia. I see the incredible strides being made to treat forms of cancer that were a death sentence 26 years ago when it took my husband away, andvI scream silently to myself "Where were you when my Andy needed you!" Then I feel selfish. I just hope and pray that cancer is conquered soon so no other wives have to stand at their husband's bedside and watch him slip away from you. Please include in your charitable plans a bit to fight cancer.
I am glad I got to see the superbowl when Walter Payton jim mcmon the frig willam Perry defeated the new England Patriots. My memory was also the super bowl shuffle song and video created and sung by the bears them self's the video would on to become number one in the Billboard's charts. Anybody remember the song response back.
I'm not a very emotional guy at all... but when I saw 4:08 I couldn't help but cry. This guy is one of my most inspiring athletes and he was way before my time.
Watching him after the playoff loss to the skins in 87 with his hands holdind his head.he new it was over and it was time to retire.i hated it when that happen.but the great thing that happen.he was a super bowl champ.not many great football players can say that.truely miss this guy high stepping to the endzone or putting on a massive hit from a wimpy tackler.die hard bear fans miss u wally
the music that starts around 6:20 is from the movie "A River Runs THrough It". Great music throughout this entire video. I believe they also use the music from "A Beautiful Mind" also.
If you look in the dictionary the definition for sweetness there’s a picture of Walter Payton. As for nicknames in my opinion his nickname is the most fitting in all of sports. I miss those leaping touchdowns!
I was a Bears fan before I watch the movie Brian's Song. And I was pretty young. But I then saw the movie The Original not the fake one that newer want to stupid. But the original is awesome and they did a great job in it. And I normally don't like to lift up athletes, even though I look Sports because I don't want to make an idol of people like that. But when they have cancers or other battles and they challenge themselves to take on those battles with a proper pride and humility. That's where I like to celebrate and the love that I had around them and the toughness they showed that's what was good. And I love how Walter Payton lift up, mr. Guard. So congrats to the families of those two good men. And under I take great Bears definitely great bears. Erase that he's me of high school. So I would like to have the Bears because they were winning the Super Bowl that year. That's not true. I like the Bears before then and I just saw their uniforms that I just knew they were my team just like with the Red Sox when I was a kid just like the Celtics and the Bruins. But when I came to football there were no Patriots. It was the Bears Da Bears. So anyway, God bless to all of you.
@TheDonpiccolo Hi Don. Is there any more footage, say perhaps interviews, of Brian on the internet. He has been a hero of mine since i was a small child. What an amazing man he was.
@TheDonpiccolo In the early 70's, one of my girlfriends claimed to be a cousin to you and Brian. Her name was Libby Freeman. Never knew if it was true.
OJ.? He was a guy that lost his after football career cause his actions. That was before his being accused. He finally got his personality revealed in Vegas.
Testicular. They couldn't say that in the movie so they made it lung cancer. In real life, the cancer spread to his pecks and he had a double mastectomy. He had many surgeries & was in terrible pain. This cancer kills quickly.
Three of the greatest to ever grace a football field. RIP to Brian, Walter, and Gayle. 😢
The three Bear greats are now together. RIP Gale Sayers.

Don, thanks for sharing that. And, if you were a fan back then, and watching this today does not bring a tear to your eye, better get that checked out. Two better role models I cannot think of.
As a boy growing up in Chicago, he was the FIRST sports player all of us wanted to be like, before MJ came along.

I was only 4 when Brian passed but I still feel him to this day. Brian and Walter in the backfield kicking butt.
If the NFL had the wish-bone. It would be Gale, Brian, and Walter. Imagine that trio in the backfield. RIP brothers!!!!!

@TheDonpiccolo My blessings to you on the 40th anniversary of the premiere of the standard-bearing television movie 'Brian's Song'.
@TheDonpiccolo I saw your brothers movie when I was 4yrs old. Made a lasting impression!
This was an awesome video. Very sad but very cool.

Live while you're alive,
life and death is in God's hands.
TRUE HEROS!
@TheDonpiccolo - If Jesus Christ had been walking this earth in 1970, Brian would not have died.
@TheDonpiccolo In the early 70's, one of my girlfriends claimed to be a cousin to you and Brian. Her name was Libby Freeman. Never knew if it was true.
So who can watch this with dry eyes.?
Walt I pray because of each other include the Americans yes we2
Gayle Brian Walter Matt
it seems heartless for Joy Piccolo to say her memories of Brian are ones people have given her!
That was his daughter.
Perhaps because she was too young to know who dad really was.
Nothing against Walter but Gale Sayers was better
No one EVER played the game like Walter, son.
In Buffalo, we have OJ. His story is very touching and emotional too. He is my idol. Free OJ.
OJ.? He was a guy that lost his after football career cause his actions. That was before his being accused. He finally got his personality revealed in Vegas.
That s a damn shame Brian piccolo had to die so young none the less I don t like the music Brian s song
Hey Americans echoing love can we bond one more time Nicholas Collora UA-cam speak for love bless America pic and walt!@@@
What kind of cancer did he have?
Testicular. They couldn't say that in the movie so they made it lung cancer. In real life, the cancer spread to his pecks and he had a double mastectomy. He had many surgeries & was in terrible pain. This cancer kills quickly.
@TheDonpiccolo I have a hard time believing you.
