Foundation is a grid-less, laidback medieval city-building game with a focus on organic development, monument construction and resource management.
As the newly appointed lord or lady of a land still untouched and full of potential, you are given the opportunity to create a prosperous medieval settlement as you envision it, managing your resources and growing population, whilst being challenged by narrative events, quests and missions, from across the kingdom.
From very modest beginnings, build rudimentary workplaces, extract and store resources, establish trade routes, erect majestic monuments and before long... a bustling city will emerge in your new found lands!

It really is so cool having watch you play this in early access to now see how much they have fleshed out the game for 1.0. Loving the progress on the town so far and can't wait to see it get geekified as you glam it up with those definitely-not-phallic bushes.
I placed a fence around each farm field and cattle pasture to stop people walking through, worked a treat.
Those wee sprites are sometimes determined to just walk where they want, eh. I had to use a combination of the fences and little dots of "forbidden".
Yeah those so-n-so's are persistent!
Just to let you know that stone will not deplete unless you choose a greater difficulty setting at the start of the game. Same goes for fish, small iron deposits ( good for mining iron without building the big mine sites) etc.
Guessed as much, thanks!
@Geekism you can remove the stones with the remove resource paint brush
this is how i like play just making things work and not massive amounts of builds, more focused on how to make a regular perfect town or other.
31:58 Hey that's me! Happy to help.
The new housing upgrades look awesome, I wish I could share my screenshots here. I’m not playing this particular map as I’d already started my new village. I now have over 420 villagers, over 1000 of meat, bread, cheese, berries and fish in stock, over 300 war rations, 200+ tavern meals, and stone paths everywhere. It certainly feels like a new game after nearly 3000 hours of gameplay in the early access version. A few little bugs to work out, but I’m positive the devs will eventually squash them all.
That is awesome! I got bogged down making my monastery and forgot all about a bailiff. After watching this I shall need to fix that, post-haste.
Enlarge the HUD wise man!!!!!
Might want to check about adding a few more wells. That might make the more deserted residential areas more desirable. :)
I love the island fort so far!
Huh, maybe! I'll see how the 'desirable area' overlay looks :)
That may solve a current issue I have with houses not being built.
Looks really good, I always get carried away in progress that I don't pretty-fi individual buildings until I need to, and then it's a panic of commoners leaving while I have no money. I'm going to take a page from your book on my next attempt.
I think the little dot in the field is 'forbidden land' in the zone painter!
either that or a bugged tree
I think it is forbidden land! Thanks!
need to get that treasury put in first thing next time, you're losing out on money!
Yeah! We are constantly maxed at 500, so I think some treasury buildings are very needed!
Rather than expanding the village all around the lake, I would focus first on expanding it around the hill on the coast and then build a castle on the top of it, or something like that!
That's a great idea - I like the idea of using the hill as a natural stronghold for a castle!
Yay for storage! In progression tier 3, you'll be able to increase the storage on the farms itself and completely eliminate the need for the granary storing wheat. I love those new functions. Also, like you, the paths through the fields.... like, dude. Rude. ;)
Oh! I did a wee test on the "porters not picking up meat" thing. I had 2 granaries, both set to bread and meat, and they were equidistant from the bakery and the butcher (so one granary was close to the bakery [A], the other close to the butcher [B]). I had enough meat & bread to fill both (and markets nearby who had been getting berries and fish from said granaries with no issues). As expected, the granary A did not start to fill with meat, even though the other porters were picking up the bread (and the same with the market trader). But, if anyone else is having this happen (and it's not just my game being super special because sometimes that can just happen to anyone), the workaround was to hit the "fill to maximum" button on the empty meat granary A and also the "empty" button on the full meat granary B. Almost instantly, the 100 meat from B went to A, and after then ticking both, the problem disappeared and I haven't had the issue in granary A since. No, I don't know, either. 😅
I'm really enjoying the series. I mean, I enjoyed the beta stuff but watching you discover the new things is delightful. :)
Thanks! Sounds like a strange fix for the granary issue and I'm sure that's not working as intended. But hey, atleast you found a work around!
Huzzah! I stopped playing when I started getting further ahead than you for fear of royally screwing it up! 😊
You cant really screw up after setting up 2 refined foods and some trade, im around month 20 aswell and money or resurces arent difficult to get
Oh so you wanna see me screw up first? Lol
@Geekism Tee hee! I just need to see you figure stuff out 😊 I got ahead of you by getting some sheep, but when I realised we can no longer do the good old ‘let the sheep wander about in the wheat’ thing….I panicked! 🤣
is there any way to stop the trees from moving? I want to play the game but the tree wave made me kinda dizzy LOL
Great job!
Thanks!
beautiful game
Is it just me or is the island wooden palisade inside out? The support beams are on the outside while the flat “face” is on the inside.
Maybe! Didn't even consider that fact that it wasn't symmetrical. Will take a look!
I have a question, ignoring the phallic bushwork of course...
How come we said "plants on a wonk" etc etc... but never said it was a Jonti Angle, instead of jaunty of course.
Anyway yeah I'm in again with foundation, had a few hours. Loving it. Im never away from 0gold mind and that's even with citizens 🤣
Oh, also, can't wait for you to develop the upgrades for farms, adding extra workers means you may want bigger fields.. which.. yeah I spent an hour redoing all my farms. 🤣
Honestly. Having spent 30+ years saying 'No, Jonti, Jon with a T I on the end' after someone hears 'Jaunty' I kinda fucking hate that word lol. Glad to here you're back in the game though! Tbh, the 1.0 feels like a new game!
@@Geekism aye but you love things on a Jonti Angle ❤️
Love you brother. Really enjoying the series. Still looking forward to whenever meanderville makes an appearance too. 👌🏻
Hope youre doing well
🤠👍
Oh no! Sell 150 wood for bunch of money when maxed on gold, gain nothing!😅
