Iv enjoyed humanoid mutations. Get Clarice decked out with some fangs+horns+thick skin etc. 100g/potion tho and theres like 6mutation potions. Low on population+gold so breeding might not be as bad as u think. Altho other tec sounds interesting too:)
Oh i forgot to reply to ur problem with triggered enemies invading ur wrong entrance. Do u remember how i did my ground level with the trenches? Cant think of what theyre called (pit?), im at work cant check :(
Dont know what ur ground level outside looks like.. extend ur trench so when they spawn they have to walk around it and first thing they can access is the entrance u want. If there are mountains touching side of map just make a trench touching the map exit next to the mountain. They cant spawn in rock tiles so this way u can manipulate so they spawn outside ur trench and have to find way to cross.

My first werewolf was also an ambusher and i am still stuck with the same thought, that they all just have ambusher :>
