I lost it as the pointer finger rod! Clever way to show off your skills as a blacksmith after the fact as well as during any ongoing project while not burning your actual fingers.

I appreciate the fact you don't make everything look super easy. i feel like most channels they "flex" their skills which can cause anxiety in learners. I feel like beginners are great at teaching because they aren't afraid of making mistakes. KEEP IT UP!!

I watch every day I find Roy's work and expertise quite amazing and you make a great team. I'm 66 years of age and getting set up to start decorative blacksmithing as one of my hobbies, done very little in the past mostly simple brackets and stuff but I did get to the point where I could manage to shape and get a shoe on my horse after a farrier taught me. I guess first thing I will have to make is a bunch of tools although I do have a superb anvil and gas forge already. I'm excited to watch my CD plans dvd that I recently purchased. Thanks to you both for sharing such trade secrets. Toby

i think whats happening is the metal is cooling and shrinking which is why your wrench was slipping off. It fits when its hot and expanded but when it cools and the metal shrinks. I have seen ppl modify small pipe wrenches for twisting metal though.
