Okay, I am now waiting for a moment in canon where Deceit reveals that he was controling Roman in that episode. And also for Deceit to just break down in the middle of a video.
The Deceit losing his marbles at the end was great. I feel so bad for Dee because the others refuse to take any of what he says into consideration just because he's seen as the villain. They think everything he says is either a lie or trying to get them to do something wrong and that's not it at all. Poor Dee just wants what's best for Thomas and... I'm getting carried away. Sorry, Deceit is my child. Anyways, great video!
They just can't stop pinning him as a bad guy. Like. Roman's final suggestion is literally "I think he is suggesting we assault and rob someone" because he cannot move past the fact that Deceit might say ANYTHING that isn't 100% morally incorrect. I cry, man.
Everything he says is reasonable. He takes the forms of others because if he didn't no one would listen to him. He really isn't the bad guy everyone makes him out to be.
@@luckyclever895 OR maybe Roman is suggesting that because to anyone who knows about it, it seems like Deceit has some kind of ASPD/Antisocial Personality Disorder. So he is assumed to be an apathetic, manipulative liar with no regards for the law.
@@sillysanderssidesstuff926 it's kind of hard to say because Deceit isn't A Human Character, he's a representation of a concept. If he was written like a human, the extent of his deception would be able to tell people more about how he morally views the world, but since he's only a concentrated fragment of a larger whole, it's hard to say for sure whether the other sides' judgement and isolation of him as completely manipulative is fair diligence or prejudice from Patton's strict moral code that classifies actions as purely "good" or "bad". Adding the awareness that these characters aren't freestanding individuals makes analysis so hard xD
Honestly Deceit can detect when someone is lying, or when Thomas is lying in general right? Deceit has also spoken in truth more than once. Does this mean Deceit can detect when someone is telling the truth? And that he can find the truth behind each situation, like a hidden meaning? If so, were in for a treat.
Oh! I actually have a headcanon that's sorta like that (I think)! Basically, when somebody tells a lie, either a downright lie or a lie of omission, provided it's done with words and not, say, nodding or ignoring the question altogether, he can kind of... dig into it, I guess? Like, he'll know not just that they're lying, but what they're lying about and what they're trying to hide, if that makes sense. It's nearly impossible to predict exactly how much he'll "sense" from a single statement, so the Sides have learned a long time ago that if they want to hide something from Deceit, the best thing to do is to just not say anything at all and hope he gets bored and goes away. Plz let me know if this doesn't make sense; I'm not sure I explained it very well... ^^; I have used this heacanon in fanfictions before, but I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, mostly 'cause I'm tired. So, if I need to clarify, I'll be happy to try. Especially tomorrow, lol.
@@catbatrat1760 Yeah, I get you. Oh, SPOILERS FOR THE LATEST EPISODE: I agree with you, because when Roman asked if he was still Thomas' hero and Thomas said "of course you are", Deceit just nods to Roman and then he leaves. That's been interpreted to mean that Deceit was saying "Yeah, Roman, he's lying to you". So yes, I agree with you
I feel like Deceit is the mom of the Dark Sides, and he basically just sends out his children to do his bidding (I like to imagine in Dealing With Anxiety, he’s like, “Okay, Thomas has been really calm lately, so Virgil, you’re up. Make sure to be your angsty self, emo boy.” “Okaaaayy” “Remember all the sass and sarcasm I taught you. Also, annoys Remus’ brother, he’s a prep. Go get ‘em.”)
I always thought that Roman's characterization was a bit off during Moving On, but I just credited that to Character!Thomas's poor mental state. I really like your idea about Deceit controlling him, speaking through him or impersonating him even. It would make complete sense since The Crew had already planned for the other sides by the time they wrote Moving On. It's brilliant if they actually planted a seed of Deceit being all controlling (and not just slapping their mouths closed to hide information as shown at the end Accepting Anxiety). They already planted the seed that Patton was against lying to cause conflict in Can Lying Be Good, so it would make sense to include more than that.
@@superstellarhere Maybe... another good mention is the *07734* in orange in episode 29. Also, something not many picked up on was the *THOMAS=8* in blue and white up in the corner of one of the frames. So we know Orange exists, and that there's ONE more out there.
@@superstellarhere In the background of the scene where Logan crumples the paper ball, the light coming from upstairs is... unnaturally colored. What color? Orange. It's definitely intentional. -Just a friendly moth- I feel like he could handle Remus at least for a bit sense Remus probably doesn’t actively try to work against deceit. Don’t get me wrong Remus is still insane but Patton and Roman are constantly trying to work against Deceit (especially Roman recently. Also Logan doesn’t seem to really have much issue with him. I don’t think he likes deceit but I dont think Logan likes any of the others either lol) whereas Remus is chaotic but doesn’t seem to have anything against deceit (well we haven’t seen them interact yet but seeing as Remus was happy to summon deceit during DWIT I’m guessing he doesn’t mind him).

But realizing that in that one episode that Janus was obviously controlling him, I have this theory that when Janus takes over one side, it's because they're vulnerable at the moment and let him. But sometimes it can get too much and they regret it. I feel that's why Janus has never taken over Virgil. Virgil never let's himself be vulnerable to Janus
