They split up and then Sara was so upset that she ended up on a holiday to the wrong country. She talks about this when she went on to Would I Lie To You.
She went to Costa Rica because she thought it was in Spain like Costa Del Sol and Costa Brava 😂

True, he has an hour long stand up special in which he talks about how incredibly depressed he was after they broke up (it's on netflix, pretty funny) though so he definitely wins

I love how James Acaster was like:
“Jon said a lot about Sara, so she might be mad at him. Watch me deflect all of that onto myself in my first line.”

The way they said it, it seemed like they were saying that he didn’t really reference the 4 weeks during his bit except the one time, so you could just end it at “Jon’s girlfriend left him alone” which doesn’t sound like a breakup.
That’s just my opinion though

@@ensa89 The joke is that there is no connection between the cinema and her being an idiot because of the bin bang thing (or possibly because of her leaving John on his own, I'm not sure)

When I first saw this clip I didn't know why the camera kept cutting to just that woman and Acaster's opening quib. Now that I know they are partners it makes more sense.

They don't actually "get" topics. They're predetermined ahead of time so the comedians can use their existing routines or create one around the subject. Very little of the stand-up challenge is off the cuff.

@@wahahabuh He took the predetermined topic of adventure, and then inverted the topic to his lack of adventurousness to suit his repertoire of jokes and routines more organically. I've heard him tell that exact series of jokes without the 'I'm not very adventurous' qualifier before them in one of his earlier Comedy Store appearances. In fact, maybe a little over half the jokes I've heard during this segment of the show are jokes that I've already heard the comedian make in specials or at Edinburgh or somewhere else - particularly Ed and Russell. Acaster even pokes fun at how lucky it is that he has recently moved house and thus has a whole bit when he is 'assigned' the topic of Moving House. Hell, a decent proportion of the jokes they tell during the bits that are supposed to be topical (as in based on recent news) are recycled jokes from old routines - again particularly with Ed and Russell, but that might be because I've seen more of their stuff than I have of other guests and regulars.
That's not a criticism of the comedians by the way, it takes genuine skill to generate a repertoire of good jokes that can be used in a bunch of situations, and even more skill to make it appear as an off-the-cuff wittiy remark or spontaneous comedy set.
@@smockboy I'm not sure you understand my comment. Yes they are not making up jokes on the spot, they are using material they came up with in the past. But the topics are not pre-assigned. They didn't tell him in advance that he was going to get "adventure"

Tbh I think most comedians on mock the week take their stand up bits from their old routines, this is the most staged part of every episode

This episode of Mock The Week left me more invested in the relationship of two people I have never met than any trashy reality show ever could...and then they went and broke up, so lesson flippin' learned, I guess.

Is it the same old stick that some people think it’s left wing? I live in Sweden and we have that argument all the time, though personally I think that it’s clear that publicly funded TV are better at being non-partial, than for example American TV were people just choose sides.

@@iamdb1990 Nah i see him countless times pulling faces like "wtf??" at other people's material. Like they're 'having a go' at stand up...
When he was working with Ray Peacock, their shtick seemed to be Ray acting thick and Ed acting condescendingly (but Ray's character was too thick to realise he was being patronised). To be honest, it sounded more like they were role-playing bullying than comedy. Ed's toned it down a lot since then, but I think I saw that arrogance resurface a bit on Taskmaster. I suspect that, off stage, he is probably extremely arrogant.
But perhaps my dislike of Peacock and Gamble has prejudiced me against him. Perhaps I'm imagining the arrogance.
If your job is convincing strangers that you're funny, you will find that easier if you never doubt that you're the best (even if you're not).

Something was said about Marriage during the episode.
Later in 2017, when asked about it, she shrugged it off saying she had "had a Tapeworm".
