This is where big furniture manufacturers and MNCs should pay more for natural resources from developing countries so that their small backyard industries have the means to implement higher occupational health & safety standards at the work place and at the same time, pay their workers more. Stop pointing fingers at these folks, start demanding the MNCs to behave like responsible corporate citizens and start asking yourself if you are willing to pay more for the products that you pick up from the big outlets like Walmart, Costco, Carrefour etc
@@michelcarloz5308 I have been buying thrift store furniture since I left my parents. I get much better quality, way cheaper price. I do not get particle board, compressed sawdust, or Chinese slave labour junk. I get something made in the 1960s to 1970s. I do not care that I do not have modern looking furniture. It is comfortable, durable, and affordable. Sometimes I may need to reupholster some things, or shim something to make it more solid. But that is easy. I can not believe how more people do not go to thrift stores for vintage, solid wood, furniture.
@@indridcold8433 Supporting local small business is a very noble gesture and getting preloved furniture is good. How do we know products that we found in the thrift stores aren't produced by factories that exploits their workers? What makes you think only slave labour junk are produced in China? Have you seen how products are churned out by sweatshops in Mexico, Brazil, Honduras, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa etc? My point is a lot of these deplorable conditions are attributed by unscrupulous quest to maximize profit by large companies from the West. We blame the factories in the 3rd world, but what about the large enterprises from the developed world?
@@michelcarloz5308 Given that these vintage furniture pieces are old enough to predate some child labour laws, it is likely some children were exploited to make these vintage items. It is unfortunate. No nation is except from these slave crimes. Even today, a private business owner may hire their own children to work the business so as to, "educate," their children on how to run the family business. This rather shady practice is allowed in Canada United States of America Britain, and many other nations. If the private business is a farm, the children really do become slaves.

No shoes, no sleeves on some workers, smoking on the job, no eye protection, no hard hat, short pants, safety is not much of a concern here.
