my mother, who had always questioned my "obsession" with anime, watched this movie with me. she said "i'm glad you're watching something deeper than teenaged first world problems." i'm glad too mom, i'm glad too...
Personally I liked this movie better than the star of Milos I think the idea for that movie could've worked better as a filler arc in the original series or even brotherhood. This movie definitely had a more theatrical feel.
Actually, this film was mean't to be an entire Season 2 of 13 Episodes based on the Japanese commentary. I really liked that idea better, because then more of the world could be established and developed a little more in depth. I guess that's what the Fans are for though, eh? Just write out something that could've been close to it. They could've at least gave the film a little more time, maybe another year. It could've really helped the film in the long run, and maybe the Season 2 idea they had would've actually gone through and worked out better than the film did, but I'm still happy with what we got in the end, we still got a good film out of the series. That's all we can ask for, right? 😄
I remember watching this after the 2003 finale that left me in tears. I loved to see Ed and Al reunited again. I cried when I thought they were going to be apart forever :( I was such a crybaby back then! And even though I have watched Brotherhood (and I love it!!) 2003 anime and this movie will forever be in my heart. Gosh, now I'm nostalgic.
FMA 2003 left an open ending in the last episode. I was dissapointed at first, thinking: "It cannot end this way!". When this movie came out I bought it and watched it with my anime club. Of course only 4 ppl out of the 10 actually paid attention. Everyone else was too into Moon Phase and not shonen. But we loved it and for me, it gave me closure. The Elric brothers reunited in the end and will face the future challanges together. FMA was the first anime that had me facing a lot of REAL WORLD themes. I cried, reflected, and was insipred. It changed my view of anime. From its characters to the plot, to beaitiful music, FMA 2003 is a unique masterpiece to me and deserves a lot of love.
+Octavia Adamson Yep! I went on a search-mission to find this movie after watching the trailer. I was like "I HAVE TO SEE THIS" even if FMA made me uncomfortable (the first anime version was too dark for me as a kid)
It's bad for those who wanted full happy ending or fully concluded ending. But they got bittersweet and not really fully concluded one. So they blindly think that FMAB is better or this movie was bad.
I love the movie, even though people like GoatJesus have said how bad the film is thematically. It's just something so fascinating because of how different the material is from 2003 and that's one of the reasons why I FMA 2003 and this movie so much. I enjoy it, even if it really is "bad." I mean, TBH though I'll say anything that's FMA-related is good because I'm just biast, but still.
This movie was great and a fitting ending for fma 2003. Brotherhood fanboys should calm their tets about it being bad tbh. Both animes are great the end.

FMA 03 is my favourite show of all time. I have such mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand the animation and music is beautiful and I can watch it just for that. But the story... oh god the story. Killed Izuimi Curtis killed off screen, some no name villiian nobody remembers and to top it all off what a bad ending.
Wait... Alphonse drawing transmutation circles on his gloves shouldn't let him transmute whatever he wants. Each circle's individual pattern is meant to transmute one specific thing. THE WORLDBUILDING IS FALLING APART! MY IMMERSION!
Yes it does. By your logic Ed shouldn't be able to transmute without a circle. Plus odds are it might have to do with Al having his body back at this point in this variation.
Do they ever explain why Ed can transmute without circles in the 2003 storyline? Either way, if Al did open the gate, he shouldn't need gloves to transmute.
I'm shocked that no one, not a single being in our world questioned or pointed out his golden eyes throughout the movie, cause I mean seriously, that's not an actual eye color in our world.

In my honest opinion, FMA 2003 and this movie were pretty good, even if in some parts they fall apart, I still have respect for both the show and movie. They did convert an entire Season 2 of about 13 Episodes of content into a single film (they talk about this in the Director Commentary, which is Japanese, but subs exist for it.) Wow... way to make me cry again. I was glad they got to see each other again and that Al got his memory back, but now I'm sad they won't see Amestris and their old friends again. Well, like I did with the HIMYM finale, I'll have to recreate a better ending in my mind.

Michaelanthony24680 Haha, I agree with you. I think people like brotherhood better just because it was prettier. People don't like seeing stories where the good guy doesn't get everything in the end.

If you haven't watched this but finished either the 2003 series or Brotherhood don't fucking bother.
+ApocalypticMagicalBoy best thing about this film was the soundtrack and animation.
*****
True.
+ApocalypticMagicalBoy i like this movie :P
Maret Rizma
Why?
+ApocalypticMagicalBoy idk 😄 i just like it 😍
Favorite part of the video is from 0:42 to the end. Not only is the anime EPIC, but the soundtrack as well.
Sound effects help, too.
Just sayin'.....

Wait there are two ed in this movie😮😮😮
Joshua Recta _no, Ed is in our world and in Amestris world, that is Alphonse, who dressed as Ed_
I remember seeing this in the extras on my DVD of DBZ Wrath of the Dragon when I was a kid, and being absolutely creeped out, amazed by it, and enraptured by it at the same time.
The only difference being that trailer on the dvd had narration by Chris Sabat playing over it. My first exposure to Fullmetal Alchemist ever.
I love this trailer and the song playing during it. Thanks for the upload
fullmetal alchemist as open world rpg by square-enix ........
Whats the song nammmee
first theme is: Kelas (Let's dance)
the second is: Requiem
Can someone explain why this movie is terrible?
Because a bunch of people are mad because the ending isn't all sunshine and rainbows. I loved it personally. But some people are to stuck with whatever fan-fic they had in their head. ;(
Michaelanthony24680 Haha, I agree with you. I think people like brotherhood better just because it was prettier. People don't like seeing stories where the good guy doesn't get everything in the end.
+Hannibal Rasberry No, people like brotherhood more because they actually read the manga and the ending to the original was never supposed to happen, people wanted the original material from the manga
+Michaelanthony24680 if anything is fan fic it's this anime itself,
+Shubert Lancaster
Since Arakawa-shi gave the anime writers her blessing, it's not the *wrong* ending, just an alternative ending.
Awesome trailer!
Kinda sloppy but visually enjoyable film
Much better than Sacred Star of Milos
Wait, this existed?
Are you serious?🥺
Hey so I just finished watching the original series and I feel it ended on an open note, so im guessing this is the conclusion? BUT can someone message me explaining what brotherhood is all about?? I'm pretty confused but very anxious to find out
How come Edward doesn't make any appearances in mainstream fighting games? He would have such cool move sets.
I remember BEGGING my mom to let me rent this movie. I was soo distraught over how 2003 ended, and needed more. And I cried like a damn baby. Lol
@visionary1138 It actually was in theaters, at least here in the US. fathomevents dot c om showed it at several select theaters with some behind the scenes of the movie/show even. It was great, can't wait for FMA:B's release (early 2012)
It was for one night only, by the way.
>too happy and too unrealistic
>happy and unrealistic
You are saying the ending to Brotherhood was perfect? That it was too happy and too "unrealistic"? So... you didn't watch Brotherhood...
The movie was good... I mean awesome... But it had the worst Fma final... I don't know why they just wanted to quit Ed's alchemy.... In both animes Ed ends without alchemy....
Al trying to copy Edward's style in the movie was annoying.
Then again, the whole movie was a pretty disappointing sequel for such an amazing show.
I haven't watched the movie yet and my guesses are that Ed and Al are fighting against the Napoleonic forces during the Peninsular/Spanish independence war
Hohenmarq III _watch the movie, but you won't like the end (or love it idk)_
DX I wish I could've seen it when it came out in theaters!
My only thing with the movie is that Winry got left behind :( that made me sad
if anyone knows where to get this movie in English and for pretty cheap, please tell me!! I can only find it in japanese
Im so sad my dvd version broke. I played it until it broke. I have the case and art book still.
🚬🚬🚬
struggling to find this movie anywhere to watch, any suggestions?
Pirate it I guess...
Really? I haven't seen Sacred Star of Milos yet. I was scared to watch it, in case it totally ruined this movie.
Looks great, sounds great, but it's plot is so incredibly bad, so epicly dumb, I'd never watch it again.
That one-dimensional character? I don't give a fuck, his brother actually died for him, why ignore that?
For all the noob's out there FMA: Brotherhood is a totally different plot than FMA. This movie
The trailer is actually better than the movie itself. Kind of disappointing.
Why are there 2 Ed in this?
One of them is Ed, but the other isn’t. The other guy is Alphonse Elric dressed as Ed.
short haired boi is al
i looked up spanish music and this came up
What Is the name of the second song in this tráiler?
Requiem - Michiru Oshima
I cried when I watched this movie, just because of the fact that the journey is finally over. Heartbreaking.
whats the difference betweenthe U.S trailer and original (japan)
melhor trailer de todos os temps!!!!!!!
