Homemade Miniature Industrial Ceiling Fan (Work In Progress)

- Seeing UA-cam's DIY//crafts feed slowly devoured by half-hearted content creators who focuses on profits over quality bugs me a lot. So much so that I made myself a challenge, which is to build a small DC ceiling fan, that looks, behaves, and performs just like fullsize ceiling fan if someone shrunk one down.
This is the result after 5 hours of work. It's still very unfinished, but looks really promising so far. It's powered by a 12V DC motor from a cassette tape player, and like a fullsize industrial ceiling fan, I used steel for the motor housing, motor mounting bracket, fan blades, and blade arms. The motor is indeed overloaded from all the steel parts, and it runs a bit warm even on 7V, but after several hours of testing it looks to be okay.
Aside from wanting to satisfy myself knowing that I can build something better than what a lot of DIY content creators build, I do have plans to use this fan in the near future. Its small size & puny performance makes for a great personal fan, although I'm not quite sure whether the motor can handle long term near daily use or not. I guess we'll just have to wait and see

it's always happy to see a miniature sized industrial ceiling fan. and this is one of your very cool creation. you just add the upper and lower canopy, downrod, and of course the upper motor cover, and voila!
it will be even greater if you add a speed controller to this thing. simple, you can search a PWM based or MOSFET based DC motor speed controller circuit schematic in the internet, or you can buy it in the online shop, but i suggest you to make it yourself, so you can customize it. if you want, you can modify a real AC ceiling fan speed regulator, into a DC motor speed controller, so it will be more realistic.
Thanks man! I'm currently fabricating the upper motor cover, then the rest will follow suit. I do plan on adding a speed controller to this fan, and have found an adjustable DC power supply that I think will suit it well.

I can ship internationally, but it's going to be very expensive, I don't think it's even worth it

What's the fan made out of?
I made it with metal ramekins, some galvanized roof sheets, pieces of metal from a transformer & a tape deck motor

Their size are ALMOST similar to the 50cm mini ceiling fan.
It was actually intended to be a 24" ceiling fan, not a 20"
Would it be possible to use the motor from a muffin fan or one of those high power computer fans?
It can work, but I'm afraid the larger load will cause heat damage to the motor, especially if the motor is made very cheaply
@@TheFanUniverse thats true. Your only option would then be to use a bigger motor but theres a chance it wouldnt even fit
