Tess got addicted to pain killers, what she did afterwards was wrong and she paid the price for it. Her relatives are so busy being angry at her for things that don’t really concern them and as it turns out, most of them have issues of addiction.

Parents think children don't see/hear stuff. You'd be surprised how much kids know about you that you thought they didn't know. I like how Iyanla told the mom to go and hug her weeping daughter. She looks like she's not used to showing up that way for them.

I think that the body language of the sister that would not share has some abuse issues with a family member, and/or, she might have gender conflicts and feels that sharing those things openly would be too intense for her to face at this time. Hopefully, she gets some outside counseling and eventually feels that the family would accept her.

    Tess-scapegoat child
In families as such, the scapegoat children have the most potential in family units...they're reasonable...ppl in the family use them to feel better about themselves...Scapegoats are the strongest in these families...
Just wow, the revelations of what the other sisters and what mom do/did to numb their own pain has me speechless....the audacity of pointing fingers, demanding apologies etc ....look in the mirror and WORK ON SELF!

Because some people believe in honoring their parents by not bringing shame to their parents. Some people believe that when their parents release them into the world, that they are a reflection of the upbringing, teachings, values, morals, etc. I've always kept that in mind through ought my adulthood even if my parents were flawed, I still wanted to be better than who they raised. I never wanted to disappoint.
