This is the tornado that scarred me for life. I was 8. My sister was 3. The lighting I remember most. It was non stop. So bad my parents had to make a choice to wait till the tornado was on top of us, to run to the shelter or risk being struck by lightning. To this day, I've never seen lightning as bad as that. We had to wait until it got quiet and run. Barely made it. The second we got in there and my dad shut the door, it flung back open. I'm 31 now and absolutely terrified of even heavy rain and wind. Any sound that doesn't sound normal to me during a storm, I'll have major panic attack to the point of vomiting. Idk why but to this day I'm terrified and I know about weather. It's what got me into wanting to know all I can about tornados, when they occur, what causes them, etc etc.
Aw buddy I’m sorry. You’re one of my favorite tornado UA-camrs and I don’t usually comment, but it seems like you had a rough time so I hope this cheers you up a bit. Thanks for your content ❤ Hope the rest of 2023 is better!

Lovely work, it's a grim topic but you cover things so clearly and intelligently. To be honest I prefer your videos over documentaries done by large groups like nat geo or the weather channel.
That tornado was horrible, but I'm glad the communities stuck together and rebuilt, and that it missed downtown Birmingham. This was a great video, Alferia. Awesome video, sorry about what’s been happening in your personal life. It’s amazing how your able to push through and continue to upload incredible content.
Thanks for covering this storm; it seems like this one gets overlooked a lot. Like you said, 1998 was a busy year for tornadoes, and on a list of significant tornadoes, it also kinda gets lost between the Jarrell and '99 Moore tornadoes. Both of those have many documentaries made about them; they were exceptionally brutal storms of course, but this one was as well. I think this is probably due to there being no video of it, nothing to sort of "stay" with the viewer; it didn't make the compilation and documentary films those of us who grew up in the '90s remember watching on TV. I think that'll be different in the future; there's probably only one lightning-lit picture of the also-nocturnal Western Kentucky tornado of 2021, but I don't think anyone's going to forget that one anytime soon. I remember the March 20, 1998 event well; while no storm came closer than an hour to me in eastern NC, it was on the news all day, it seemed. Even if someone wasn't an 11-year old weather geek like me, they were aware of what had happened in Stoneville, if they had the news on. That storm struck Stoneville in mid-afternoon, so there was plenty of daylight left for the TV crews to get pictures and broadcast them.
I consider myself a tornado expert. I thought I knew them all. I've never heard of this one. About to watch. God bless everyone who went through this .
Was living in Tuscaloosa & was departing home to attend a Bama baseball game when the first tornado warning was issued for Tuscaloosa County. No polygon warnings then, so the entire county was placed under the warning. Never made it out of the neighborhood for the game. Turned out both teams & fans crowded into the basement of Memorial Coliseum across the street & the game eventually cancelled.
Once again, you did an amazing job. I often forget about the 1998 Birmingham tornado(as I was only 13 at the time), and just how destructive it was. I'm so excited to be one of your channel members! Back in 2011 there were dual tornado emergencies simultaneously happening in Dallas and Tarrant (Ft. Worth) counties. I live in Tarrant, and one of them was headed straight for us. The radar was literally two J's moving south to north, which was EXTREMELY weird.

The craziest storm I've lived through was the western kentucky outbreak last year or the winter storm the hit oregon that they dubbed snowmeggedon
I was in open door church. I’ll forever be connected to all those people. I believe there 69 are 70 of us in the only hallway left standing. god had his hands on us that night. I still remember the power of that thing the pressure change was amazing.
I wanna see a doc on Smithville, as there are not very many docs that go into extensive detail on prob the most violent tornado in recent memory.
That should’ve been a Mass casualty situation
You should review the May 2003 Extended Mega Tornado Outbreak.
Between this event and April 27, 2011, I don’t see how Alabama is still on the map
Hey, I know this is an odd one, but could you cover the Joplin tornado, at some point? I have family that lives all around missouri (Myself included) and I have heard some sturdy strong men say that was the scariest night of their lives.
If you haven't already seen it, Storms Q just did a really great Joplin one.
Oh lol I thought u meant the 1,000 year old city in england
Thank you!
That eastern tornado near Atlanta went right by my house
It started like almost any other day.
As a survivor of this tornado it still gives me chills. Lived in MacDonald's chapel and apr 27th that tornado came 2 streets from taking our house in pleasant Grove. Jesus WAS watching over us
Yeah we have a lot of tornadoes. And a couple blizzards.(93)
I was born the day after the The 1998 Birmingham F5 Tornado I am almost as old as this tornado
Can you do the Fort Worth ef3 in 2000?
is there any notable tornados that have hit Dallas?
Back in 2011 there were dual tornado emergencies simultaneously happening in Dallas and Tarrant (Ft. Worth) counties. I live in Tarrant, and one of them was headed straight for us. The radar was literally two J's moving south to north, which was EXTREMELY weird.
Dont forget the Christmas EF4 of 2015
While I am much younger and oKlahoman to have experience this…. I did go through Moore 2013 which was its whole different thing
I remember this weather
Video Prediction: A Tornado A Town Forgot - The 2016 Pensacola EF3
That's where I live btw. I asked people in town if they remember this and I only had 13 people who remember it and that is why I'm asking about this because it was the costliest tornado of the February 23rd 2016 Tornado Outbreak and it almost hit an airport, also if you are wondering Pensacola is in The Florida Panhandle in Northwest Florida and is in the most western county in Florida, Escambia.
Injuries: 3
Fatalities: 0
Not anytime in the next year. If you want to recommend a topic you can look in his communuty posts for the Google Form to do so. Just be sure it has footage associated with it.

What about the Ms tornado of jone count it was 2.5 miles wide F5
It hit 1/2 mile from my house. The worst I've ever seen.
This is around the same area that will get pummeled in 2011.
James Spann had hair?!
impossible
My family lived through this tornado and it was a wake up call for us. We lost our house and so did my father. We were separated from our two kids for hours and it was terrible and scary. I praise God for His protection for our whole family and friends and our church and those in it. It was also a total loss.
