  • I bought every weird sewing supply product that my daughter and I could find during a late night Amazon scrolling session!! #Back2Shop haha We came up with 10! This is an unboxing plus a rate and review of each item. Some were terrible. Some were amazing!!

I added more shopping tags for you guys! Shop savvy! I bought Amazon items and YT doesn't affiliate with them, so I tagged the counterparts that I thought looked to be the same items or equal. Read up on them to be sure it's the same or similar. You guys SOLD OUT all of the firecore laser levels that I had tagged. I've tagged 2 similar, yet different laser levels. Check those out, or wait for the other one to restock. Also, I added the gel pads tag to it by request. I don't normally promo those because I'm afraid it'll hurt the finish on someone's table, and they'll blame me. My table finish is fine, and it's been a few years. (They also sold out!!! Hopefully, you'll find something similar.)

Why not just lightly wrap the thread around the hook, like maybe just a single wrap? (Needs to be light, not *tight* as obviously thread needs to be able to pull through as you bring it through eye of needle & beyond.) Also, it definitely looks "fiddly", I can see why you would not use it, but it might actually make a huge difference for someone with vision problems.

For the LED strip, you can create a little "lampshade" out of thin fabric and cover the face of the strip to knock down or alter the light. I did that with a LED sewing light, which had the brightness of the sun all concentrated in a blinding circle, and my little lampshade made something I hated into something I actually use.

I have an ancient device from Singer my mother use in the 50s for the full skirts of the era. It operated on the similiar principle as the the laser hem marker. It has a little container with a short tube with a rubber ball attached, like an old spritzer perfume bottle. The container, was set on a vertical ruler with a base, and could slide up and down. It was filled with powered chalk. The skirt was either worn or on a mannikin and turning slowly, you would puff a line of chalk to mark the hem. Never uses it, but it looks nifty with its red paint and Singer logo and the outline of a 50s woman in a full skirt.

The needle threader (fish) will work much better if you turn it over. The hook should be facing down, not up. Then you can draw the thread under the hook and be able to keep tension on it with your other hand.

That little finger thingy interested me for one reason: it looks like a Needle Trolley I use as a laying tool for hand embroidery. (Only the Needle Trolley is made of metal.) My only gripe with a Needle Trolley is that I have to line the inner portion with leather to make it comfortable. (Since this is a sewing channel, I won't expand on this embroidery tool.) Instead of trashing them, see if a friend who embroiders could use them as a laying tool. Or donate to a resale shop or art center. I liked how you demoed everything.

I have one of those little irons. I use it while sewing with a little ironing board which I think is meant for doing sleeves. With both right next to me I can press open seams on small pieces instead of getting up to use the big iron and ironing board after every step. Obviously the big ones still get used for long seams, hems, and anything that needs a different temp than the little iron provides.

Have an interesting Needle threading thought for you. My mother is 100% blind and has been all her life. While attending the State Blind School (9 years of resident school) she was taught to sew, by hand and machine. She was also taught how to thread the needle. Are you sitting?. . . .she threads her needles with her TONGUE. Yes you read that right. This woman would thread the sewing machine needle while OUT of the machine, then put it back into the machine to commence machine sewing. She made me outfits while in grade school. She taught me to sew (no I don't thread needles like her) I now am a costume designer. So losing your sight can be scary but there are tools and techniques that can be used to be able to continue with your passion.

I am quite intrigued by the Laser Scissors. I'm thinking (Look Out! HaH!) that if the laser beam and the cutting blade of the scissor is in alignment, theoretically, they should work. I do not have the steadiest of hands or beady eyeballs. What if you did an experiment? Cut a length how you normally would, then cut the same with the Laser Scissors... If You want to try, please...

    • @BridalSewing
      @BridalSewing  10 днів тому

The problem is, the scissors always shift away from the laser as I cut. You could get some & test them out. I was honestly most disapointed in the blades. They are thin and weak, like craft scissors. They aren't forged and appropriate for a pro cutting room. But, they are cheap enough. 🤗

The mini irons are great beside your sewing machine for quilters needing to press those short seams to the proper direction.

I fell for those stupid fish threaders too. hated them. I'm tempted to try the laser level thing. I love the LED strips on the machines. they really brighten up the sewing surface. only downside is over time the LED's die one by one and you have to replace the strip

For almost the same price as that small iron, you can get a Steamfast portable iron that has a temperature control and steams. They're a little bigger than that but still a convenient size and the quality is excellent 👍👍

I would use that little electric sewer. Only for small handmade ornaments; the little iron I would use for crafting - definitely; the threader- my needle doesn’t line up sideways but from front to back so no for this! Thanks for demonstrating these items!

You had the fish with hook upside down. If the hook is on the bottom, you wrap the thread around, and it will pull through great, but it doesn't work on home machines, because those thread from to back. It works well on pro machines and hand needles

I was interested in the sewing machine nine needle threader. I watched a video on Amazon on for that item and the thread is supposed to be doubled and then the hook works as it is pulled through eye of needle. I’m ordering them. Thanks.

      ua-cam.com/users/shorts3S-MKj2EsxY?feature=share
Also, be forewarned, the hook isn't very small. So it only fits in my biggest needle size. The tiny needles that you would need it for, 9 or 11, absolutely don't work at all because the hook is too big for the eye. It's quite pointless for me. I think putting thread through the eye is much easier.

With the laser scissors, the laser points wherever you turn the scissors, so you can still get a crooked cut.

Oh, the first pin case: handy for sure but personally I do not prefer small round things that can drop and roll away but my most concern would be to be careful not to let pets get hold of it. My puppy dog will play and what if he cracks plastic and get needles exposed or if he swallows the case? Anyway I always have to think about naughty pets but I liked the concept. 😊

***THANK YOU!!*** So many people think it's how I'm holding it, although I did a Short of it turned the other way. It's literally harder to get the hook in than it is to get thread through the eye. --And it doesn't fit through most of my eyes.

Why not? What's the problem with it? I wouldn't use this for a customer's custom hem, because people aren't straight.
I would use this for truing-up the original hem on a made from scratch gown. I don't see any reason for a comment with all caps. 😂😂
