After 10 years of heroin addiction, in and out of jails, treatments centers, and institutions, I sat on my hospital bed and contemplated my life. It was time to fully surrender to the spirit of the universe and allow myself to accept help. I mean idk about depression cause back then mental illnesses were severely stigmatized we only know about schizophrenia, but looking back yeah i do have depression since i was a kid, only difference is that I'm diagnosed at 18, but it's been around since i was 5, 24 now and still under medications.. well most of it thanks to my broken family.. I really wonder how or what 'normal' to others feel like.

This song really describes how I feel.. the loneliness in a full room of people, someone loving you but not feeling like it’s genuine, feeling as if people talk to you because they feel obligated. Having a bunch of thoughts and not knowing which is right. Feeling lost in a room full of emptiness. Going in circles and circles finding happiness then completely losing it right away. Not knowing how to express your emotions almost overflowing. Where can I release these emotions? Music, a bed and keeping it to myself. Ironic because I’m not releasing anything to anyone just to myself keeping it more bottled up.

I felt just the same way and idk if it helps but I got through my problems by looking at a mirror and confronting myself and face it all until I was finally free and apologize and forgive myself for everything and now I working hard to recover and set not a brand new path but a great one
As a 40 year old man, not that age has much to do with it, but this song and a few others from Bon Iver actually make me lose my breath, and it invokes a strange feeling, I am unable to handle. A mix of nostalgia, a bit of envy in a youth I never had, from the images of youthful love in twilight, and my own personal challenges with a life of anxiety. Words and sound are very powerful, and this song is one of those pieces carved out of time, where you can lose yourself while it plays out. Where you can remember the past and let it overtake you in the moment, and float here a while.

She is not gone just enfolded, buried under another layer of yourself. Instead of focusing on what is “lost”, focus on how who you used to be left her mark on who you are now. Then build on that. As much as you would like to remember and be who you were before, life will pass you by in the blink of an eye if you stay there. You have to try to take the lessons your old self went through and learn from those. It will be an ongoing process but the journey is one the most beautiful things about life. On the way you meet beautiful people see beautiful things and you get to keep those beautiful memories you made when you were young if you do choose. My grandma and I loved Twilight. I remember the day we found out we both had read the book. We started discussing the book and the movie and how cool it was. We watched it eventually together eventually. When she died from cancer, I really felt it deep in my chest. Till this day, I get this overwhelming anxiety of the end when I come back to anything Twilight related. I recently watched all of them again, and boy are the goofy XD. That being said, i still can't help but feel this nostalgia. Just a kid with her grandma enjoying a little movie.
Why must it be a happy ending? All you have is the present. Live in the future, and you will be anxious. Live in the past, and you will be depressed. Live in the moment, and you will be at peace. Whatever mountain you wish to climb will always be there waiting. Take a rest, look after yourself first, and then you can get back to doing whatever you wish. Nature doesn't rush, yet everything is solved in time. Your mind is simply agitated. Allow your mind to settle, and the answers will become clear. There is no rush.

More than once someone told me “Don't worry” “It's nothing.” “It will get better”, but was it better later? I think if you're listening to this song and sitting here reading this, it's not. I don't know what happened that you're here, whether you've lost a loved one, you're alone, you've been fired from your job, or you're just having a bad day, but I want to help you because I want you to get on with your life. Life is very precious and you will never repeat it again. Therefore, please do something for me and don't give up PLEASE! If you can't help yourself look out the window and silently look at the landscape or close your eyes with me and take a slow inhale and exhale 3 times during this time think of something peaceful like the sea, a meadow in the countryside. There are many ways and anything that helps you will be good. It should help you at least in a small way. If you can, try new things you've never tried, such as things you've always wanted to try or didn't want to try. I, for example, have tried rock climbing, walking at night in a park by a river and meditation, which allows you to really clear your mind and let me escape reality. If it's really gritty, do something for me and ask for help from family, friends, neighbors, anyone, even me, if you need it, it won't get worse, right? I listen to this for different reasons than you think. It sounds like rain to me. It sounds like the rain softly hitting the ground and how warm sometimes the rain is. It reminds me of gray clouds in a non depressing way....it's very calm even though the lyrics mean something else. The sounds hit my ear in a way that rain would and both are very peaceful.

My mom was in prison for what it felt like most of my life. I’m only 12 and i’ve been through so much. i meant my dad at the age of 5 and i haven’t seen him for almost three years. he has never gotten in contact with us. my grandma raises me and she is absolutely amazing. i want everyone to know they are loved even if it’s not in a physical way.

Fuck that, create your own memories, nothing in this world ever lasts. Our lives are temporary, memories are forever. The world will always find a way to push you however it’s up to us to get back up. This pandemic won’t last. And sadly we can’t turn back time, however instead of trying so hard to preserve your youth, try and make due with your future. Because the past is the past, those memories were already created. Create new ones.

I mean idk about depression cause back then mental illnesses were severely stigmatized we only know about schizophrenia, but looking back yeah i do have depression since i was a kid, only difference is that I'm diagnosed at 18, but it's been around since i was 5, 24 now and still under medications.. well most of it thanks to my broken family..

This song really describes how I feel.. the loneliness in a full room of people, someone loving you but not feeling like it’s genuine, feeling as if people talk to you because they feel obligated. Having a bunch of thoughts and not knowing which is right. Feeling lost in a room full of emptiness. Going in circles and circles finding happiness then completely losing it right away. Not knowing how to express your emotions almost overflowing. Where can I release these emotions? Music, a bed and keeping it to myself. Ironic because I’m not releasing anything to anyone just to myself keeping it more bottled up.

She is not gone just enfolded, buried under another layer of yourself. Instead of focusing on what is “lost”, focus on how who you used to be left her mark on who you are now. Then build on that. As much as you would like to remember and be who you were before, life will pass you by in the blink of an eye if you stay there. You have to try to take the lessons your old self went through and learn from those. It will be an ongoing process but the journey is one the most beautiful things about life. On the way you meet beautiful people see beautiful things and you get to keep those beautiful memories you made when you were young if you do choose. I leave you with this: nothing is ever lost, just enfolded.

My grandma and I loved Twilight. I remember the day we found out we both had read the book. We started discussing the book and the movie and how cool it was. We watched it eventually together eventually. When she died from cancer, I really felt it deep in my chest. Till this day, I get this overwhelming anxiety of the end when I come back to anything Twilight related. I recently watched all of them again, and boy are the goofy XD. That being said, i still can't help but feel this nostalgia. Just a kid with her grandma enjoying a little movie.

It's 1.13 am... I feel bad and not just me, because I'm guessing you guys do too. I know it's been a hard day and tomorrow will be another one. I have listened to this song and others like it countless times and still do. Like you, I hope it will get better, but will it? Each new day kills me, I no longer feel like the same person I was a few years ago. Every day I lose more and more energy. More than once someone told me “Don't worry” “It's nothing.” “It will get better”, but was it better later? I think if you're listening to this song and sitting here reading this, it's not. I don't know what happened that you're here, whether you've lost a loved one, you're alone, you've been fired from your job, or you're just having a bad day, but I want to help you because I want you to get on with your life. Life is very precious and you will never repeat it again. Therefore, please do something for me and don't give up PLEASE! If you can't help yourself look out the window and silently look at the landscape or close your eyes with me and take a slow inhale and exhale 3 times during this time think of something peaceful like the sea, a meadow in the countryside. There are many ways and anything that helps you will be good. It should help you at least in a small way. If you can, try new things you've never tried, such as things you've always wanted to try or didn't want to try. I, for example, have tried rock climbing, walking at night in a park by a river and meditation, which allows you to really clear your mind and let me escape reality. If it's really gritty, do something for me and ask for help from family, friends, neighbors, anyone, even me, if you need it, it won't get worse, right? Remember I'm rooting for you and I believe we'll all get through this. Thank you for reading all this, you made me feel a little better and I know that at least I could help someone.

It sounds like rain to me. It sounds like the rain softly hitting the ground and how warm sometimes the rain is. It reminds me of gray clouds in a non depressing way....it's very calm even though the lyrics mean something else. The sounds hit my ear in a way that rain would and both are very peaceful.

I’m only 12 and i’ve been through so much. i meant my dad at the age of 5 and i haven’t seen him for almost three years. he has never gotten in contact with us. my grandma raises me and she is absolutely amazing. i want everyone to know they are loved even if it’s not in a physical way.
