    Shannon you are my favorite DIY UA-camr. You have such great ideas. Love the curtains and thanks for sharing! I know your husband is a fireman and I wanted to let you know that I come from a firefighter family. My grandfather was a Captain in Lexington, Ky, my father was a Lieutenant in Lexington and my brother was a fireman and parametric also in Lexington. Needless to say I have the utmost respect for all firefighters and the awesome work they do.

      Awe! You are so sweet! Yes, I'm a proud firefighter wife. It's not the easiest way of life, but I am very proud of him and his commitment to helping the community and others. He is very dedicated and received the fire fighter of the year award this year. I was beaming proud! He also became a first responder and completed that training the first of this year. Coming from a firefighter family yourself I'm sure you understand the ups and downs of it. Bless your father and grandfather for their service! It's a great brotherhood they become apart of.

    I read on other sites to make sure your drop cloth is 100 percent cotton so it will absorb ,also research the surface of your tub to make sure it does not ruin the surface.

    I've always shied away from drop cloths in my home because they are flammable. I would be so interested in a video where you cut some swatches to compare side by side their qualities such as flammability, water repellency, color, texture, ability to paint a sharp line, bleed through etc. thanks for a great video!

    • @Linda-kb3ko
      @Linda-kb3ko 5 років тому

      It is flammable and another thing is that it does not repel liquids it absorbs them because that is what a painter would want. I am going to test an area with Scotchgarde

      OMG so is the wood your house is built with, .....how the hell did we all ever make it as a country and didn’t all burn up and die with out the technology of fire resistant fabric 😂😂😂😂😂

    • @janemh5866
      @janemh5866 3 роки тому

      @@danielc.1169 it's perfectly reasonable to want to use less flammable materials as they are available to us. It's a risk I'm ok with for my circumstances but why mock someone who for all you know could live with their baby in a tiny apartment with little escape if there were a fire? Just because "people" survived doesn't mean a lot of people didn't die. It's a very silly argument.

    how much do drop cloths shrink in the wash ? Do those drop cloths have a seam ? if so, does the seam go cross ways or long ways ?

  • @reason5591
    @reason5591 3 роки тому +1

    Once the manufacturers learn what we are all doing with their drop cloths they will double or triple the cost! Seriously this happens alot. Just look at the price of Coconut Oil once available for $3 and change is now triple the cost once it became so popular. 😵

    I don't understand how you all do this so easily ..i mean bleach is so toxic! don't you feel it in your eyes, throat, and lungs? and also the environmental load is very heavy ..i have been searching for a long time now, for something that really bleaches that is not toxic. I found something biological.. optil now it bleaches very well ..only not the canvas i wanted to bleach totally white. Any suggestions on this? with the drop cloth works very well however, greetings

  • @charlotteshaffer369
    @charlotteshaffer369 4 роки тому

    You should mention if the drop cloth isn’t 100% cotton it won’t work. It has to be 100% cotton or it won’t turn white.

    I'm so gonna do this!! Just bought 2 drop cloths 2 weeks ago and now I can bleach before hanging! TFS! I can't order those cute checkered pillow cases from IKEA / Amazon bc they don't sell them online and I the nearest IKEA is 4-6 hours away. I did order a different style and hope I like them and the home sweet home cases. Where do you buy your pillows for the cases bc they look nice and full?

    • @TheDailyDIYer
      @TheDailyDIYer  7 років тому +2

      Oh no :( I'm so sorry you couldn't order the pillow cases! I'm sure your alternatives will work though! I actually have a secret for my throw pillows - I purchase the $2.50 cheapy bed pillows from Walmart and have to really stuff them into the cases. But they fit and they make the pillows look nice and full. Much cheaper than buying actual throw pillow inserts.

    Oh! I'm so excited. The entrance way to my multi-happy place room has clipped drop cloth floor to ceiling curtains. I'm not anti-color but the texture you mentioned is exciting.
    I have to beg someone to do this for me. I have a top load but chlorine gives me massive migraines with week-old bleach use. (Coming home from conferences and I'm blown away by chlorine that others had used the day I left, hoping it would dissipate. )
    My machine is in the garage, so after I learn how this can be done in my machine, I'll wait for cooler temps so the doors out there can be open.
    I'm so happy to see all the changes and work yall have done.
    Having a bed in my craft room wasn't always what I imagined.. but it's become the way my physical disabilities allow. This room is the formal living room in our home. This and my attached very large foyer is my domain. More space than anyone should need. I love it. It's always in some form of progress. TFS ♡~Heidi

      I found this at home depot for $16.98. None of my cuts are more than the width of the cloth which is 44 inches wide. at 15 feet long I bought 2 and have the 9 yards I need . there are no seams but one had a flaw (run) thru almost the entire length so I returned it and got a new one. I wanted to post a picture but cant ...it is called 'EVERBILT' washable & reusable 4' x 15'
