Alia was in love with Varun after Humpty - he's the idiot who chose not to return her crush with love and affection. You could SEE that he has feelings for her but for some reason he chose to keep them bottled up - maybe he was having too much fun f-ing around because girls were falling all over themselves to be with him. Bakchod 100% "friend-zoned" a gorgeous, deeply talented 21 yr budding star who was in love with him. She waited for THREE YEARS - he could have made the move after Badrinath as well but THREE MONTHS after Badrinath released, Karan Johar sent her to Europe with Ranbir Kapoor to start shooting for Brahmastra and she was GONE after that. Varun was only good for kidding around and teasing and being a friend - he NEVER romanced her even a little bit. I don't blame Alia for moving on - she has her life to live. Now Varun is stuck marrying someone who's not in the industry and nowhere near Alia Bhatt's league (looks, talent, fame etc.).
