I own this watch and my average cost of all my watches range from 100 bucks to 1600 bucks. Without exaggeration, this one has impressed me and has really grown on me, most days I reach for this noatter whatnim wearing or what I'm doing. Just feels like wearing a vintage peice, something durable and comfortable that isn't gonna let me down.
Thank you Watch Kaki! Because of your review I ordered one, received it yesterday and your review is spot on! The bazel action is amazing and the clicks sound is addictive. Subscribed !! Well done!
Good video and the watch looks amazing. This is the "upgraded" version, as San Martin calls it. I think changing from a printed logo to an applied one makes a huge difference. Also, some of the other homages to the 6105 I've seen look like the AR coating was spread on with a butter knife. I ordered this one a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to get it.
Ramon Castro You’re welcome. Actually these San Martins... they’re all very good for the money. Build quality better than entry level Seikos, but you’ll have to accept that they’re homage watches.
Nice review. I have one in royal blue. Ordered it with no writing on the face and a beautiful, thick leather band. I love it! One of my favorite ( keeper ) watches. Thanks friend. P. S. Great bezel action!
Monkwearmouth Just had to show it because I was surprised at how good the bezel action felt. Interestingly, I came across another review of San Martin and the reviewer said he felt the action is too tight. I guess every reviewer has his or her own preference. Thanks for dropping by!
Patrick Heng Hey man, thanks for the kind words. These homage watches are definitely bang for the buck, but Seiko just has that “bromance” going on. All are nice.
Really like this, but I'd have to replace the bezel, an aluminium one would look so much more at home on this style case. Everything else about it is fine tho'. Happily still available in 22!
Very nice review. I ordered mine with a custom dial and can't wait to get it. Some people say they are the same as Heimdallr. I'll find out soon because I already have that one
Thanks for the kind words. I would think these brands - Heimdallr, San Martin and Steeldive, they’re quite similar. I guess some details are different, like the applied logo on the San Martin, or the two-tone lume on the Steeldive. Do let us know how you feel about Heimdallr vs Sa n Martin when you have both in hand. Thanks.
Very nice review mate. Just found your channel now. Subscribed. I have a bronze Heimdallr Turtle homage. The quality of homages available from the likes of San Martin and Heimdallr are arguably better than the originals, specs wise especially.
These homage brands are getting better all the time, it’s scary how much quality we’re getting for not a lot of money. That said, they are homages and they do get plenty of negative reviews for lack of originality.
@@AndyinSG That's fair I guess. They wouldn't need to exist though if the likes of Seiko upped their game and stopped using hardlex and crappy bracelets.
I couldn't agree more. I bought one of Heimdallr's "Custom-made" 6105 8110's absolutely stunning piece powered by a Swiss Made ETAC2824-2. No Captain Willard ever left Seiko so well made. The case finishing is spot on and the dial is really stunning. The light play off the contrasting matt and polished surfaces is outstanding. That's the only thing I'd change on the San Martin, while the ceramic bezel is fine and has advantages over a traditional aluminium one, this watch would gain (IMO) from having one, it just adds to the contrast & light interaction off the watches face. Having a dome crystal with minimal AR coating helps maintain the authentic vintage look.. I'd say either Heimdallr or San Martin are a definite step over Seiko' recent efforts. I was lucky enough to handle the £1,000+ Prospex re-issue and compare it directly with my Heimdallr. While looks are subjective the ETA 2824-2"destroyed the 6R35 on the timegrapher. That the Heimdallr cost about a ¼ of the Seiko is just foolishness on Seiko's part. These days the only reason to buy a Seiko is if you can't find a better made Chinese homage of that particular model you're drooling over...
Looks like they’re selling well. I am speaking to a local dealer of Steeldive watches to secure a loan set. But chances are slim because, well, my channel isn’t that popular now.

@@AndyinSGI guess almost the same it’s just the new one has hexagonal logo instead of letter. My question is if the mechanism or movement is still the same, unfortunately their German website is isn’t that detailed.
Possum Sam Oh yes, those look great. A pity they haven’t released that one when they sent me this. I would think they wouldn’t mind loaning the black coated turtle to me for review. Maybe next round then.
Possum Sam If I’m not wrong, that black IP version actually has a different case design. Look at their crown guard areas. Case back stamping also different. Having said that, the orange one is just superb.
I would love to see one without that chapter ring, kinda ruin the overall 6105 vibe for me. I own the Steeldive model and I like the dial style better than this SM however you can clearly see SM has better finished parts. I guess that justifies the price point.
Interesting observation. I haven’t compared the two brands yet, but I always prefer things like applied logo and high quality finishing on the San Martins. Downside is, their Willard doesn’t come on bracelets. The newer models like the black bay homage seem like a notch or two higher in terms of quality. Amazing.
@@AndyinSG Yes if you can, try to pickup the SD 6105 at around $86 currently, it's amazing for the price but you can probably notice the finishing quality isn't as high as the SM. It'd be a good beater watch where you can ignore dents and scratches. ;)
I just received my San Martín (I already have had a steeldive for almost 3 month) and in my opinion, beside the full lume bezel, the San Martin is way better quality IMO, but the Steeldive is available almost for have the price
@@eduardoantoniogarciacorrea6332 You're absolutely right. The San Martin is 100 times better quality than the SteelDive 6105. I ordered 2 SteelDive 6105 watches (one with a stainless steel band and one with a rubber strap) directly from the Guangzhou Quiin factory on Alibaba and when both were delivered to me, each one had quality control issues. One had a misaligned hour hand that did not hit the mark on any of the hour markers when the minute hand hit the 12. On the other one, the date was misaligned inside the date window. I sent back the one with the misaligned hour hand for a refund and it took over 2 months for the watch to get back to the seller in China and for me to get a refund. I ended up keeping the other one with the misaligned date and am living with the flaw. The only 2 good things about the SteelDive watches is that the NH35 movement that these watches have inside of them are fairly accurate and they look almost identical in style to the original 6105 Captain Willard Seiko. SteelDive needs to have better quality control with hour hand alignment, date alignment and with bezel action during manufacturing. They have such a beautiful watch, but crappy quality control. I had another 3rd SteelDive 6105 homage that I purchased from a store on the AliExpress website that I had to return because the rotating bezel on it was very hard to turn. It felt like it was cemented to the watch case. The San Martin 6105 homage does not have these types of quality control problems that the SteelDive have. They are better built than the SteelDive. I prefer the San Martin 6105 over the SteelDive. There's a big difference in quality when you compare the two together. The San Martin wins in quality over the SteelDive any day.
