I have 3 Wormpeople hats. I also noticed Captain Matt has an option to buy him a coffee. As a previous business owner, I gotta say this is very helpful. This will help the captain pay for gas to get to town, but a coffee, maybe a cookie, maybe help with the farmer’s market table-cost that week. Love the content!
I appreciate your openness, humility and willingness to share! I have learned so much from your channel! Thank you, from a proud care taker of (about) 2000? Worms
Wonderful to hear, Brenda. We'd like to invite you to join the forum over at community.wormpeople.com/ There’s tons of information and experienced Worm People over there who support each other on their journeys.
Aah! Thank you for doing this and getting my question! I was one of those that had wondered if I had too many worms per sq ft because they would eat their food within a day, so I split my bin... Twice. I'm another one of those that is hopeful to turn this into a business one day, but for now I am just working out of 7 bins inside my small apartment. You're amazing, Captain Matt and crew! I appreciate your giving spirit and the educational resources you provide to those of us still trying to get this all figured out. Thank you!
Hey Evelyn... so glad you got to see your answer. That's what it's all about!
Great question answer
Fantastic very knowledgeable
Hi Matt, I love watching your videos and seeing you interact with your son and grands♥️

Hey Peggy... thanks so much for sharing your story at discuss.wormpeople.com/space/1002440409 ... you're right, we ARE hatching worm people - not just worms!!!
Hi Captain Matt and Family, Can you imagine my surprise when my name was mentioned in your video - so grateful for your thorough answer to my question. Love your Work!
No matter my mood when I start watching one of your videos, I'm always smiling by the end!
Thanks No matter my mood... your comments always have me smiling by the end, Cuznclive.
You are still a young buck Captain Matt. 🦌
You're too kind AJ... hey I've got a question for you - can you drop me an email to matt@wormpeople.com?

Hi Captain Matt & your great helpers, Thank you so much for answering my questions on this video.
I'm located on the West Coast of British Columbia and look forward to your coming "WORM COURSE"
It's GREAT to see your hobby turning into a family business & passing on the knowledge to everyone.
Again, thank you guys for the future of this "Fantastic Fertilizer" This has great potential for food security.
Getting the castings from someone else was my idea however i do not have the money to invest $1000 or more for a ton...in the place i live there is no people doing this type of business, so there is a niche, but as all know u need money to make money and when u do not have extra money to even a burger is a true challenge. Some two years back I reached out to a vermicompost person and asked for some free worms....no answer, then i purchase two small containers from wallmart, but my worms got out of the container, so I tried again and all die...still the itch for worms still a live...sooner or later i will do or try again... U are a true inspiration...
I'm confident you'll get there. Yes, no avoiding some investment... but you can start from almost nothing. Even with another small set from Walmart you could try again. You might enjoy the last Worm People article about starting simply: wormpeople.com/starting-simply-a-bin-for-beginners/
@@CaptainMattsWorms not doubt that i will start again- but things are changing very rapidly and i am preparing to move -do not know exactly were- but it is coming. Ur videos and advice are preparing me for giving another shot to the vermicompost buss...here is a real story...when i was 5 until 8 year old I loved to play with worms..gave them a pile of mud and I would play with them for hours..(yeah i was a wired kid)...now i am coming back to them...lolol
You are the bomb! I just love your transparency, your enthusiasm, your knowledge and your love for your family! I love my worms and they thank you for all the great info!
Thanks for the encouragement, Sheila. Yes... love my family! I never would have been on UA-cam without them!
Always good stuff buddy. After hearing it took afew years to start selling I was alittle taken back but not surprised and not discouraged. Since I live in Warsaw IN live bait for fishing is huge. Meal worms, minnows, super worms, wax worms, and BSFs can all be farmed. So looks like a busy road ahead of me. Thanks Matt
Hey Ultima... for any business the time it takes is all based on how much capital you have to jumpstart the business. Lots of little costs add up.
Thanks Captain Matt! I put my hat order in and can’t wait to get it! I started in October with 2, 27 gallon bins (1,500 worms) and am hoping to harvest a batch of castings by the time I need to pot up my garden seedlings around April. I’m so glad to have found your channel as I was first ordering my worms. You’ve been a priceless source of information and are just a joy to watch. Hope you had a great Christmas!
Hey Lauren! So glad you got a hat. It makes my day to hear from people like yourself. I look forward to hearing more about your success. Feel free to say hello to the Worm People at discuss.wormpeople.com/space/882054414
Thanks Captain I just recieved my hat today, very good quality just like the great tips from all your videos. keep the tips coming , I just got started a few months ago and your tips have helped me a lot. Have a great 2023
Hey Dave! So glad you got a hat... I wear my Worm People hat everywhere and it sparks so many wonderful conversations and opportunities to tell folks about worming.
Good stuff guys thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, Paul!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video! I am new to the worm game and have my wife onboard now!
Hey Chef Jeff... now that's an accomplishment! Welcome aboard!
Can't wait for your breeder course Captain Matt! Thanks for all you do!
I'm actively working on it. First will come a basic "Learn to Worm" mentored course in early 2023 - I need to make sure folks have the basics covered before moving into breeding. Sign up to be notified about that (if not already), and you'll be notified about the breeding course as well. Breeding is likely later in the year. wormpeople.com/mentoring-program/
@@CaptainMattsWorms Thank-you!
Thank you so much for sharing your valuable experience. It's educational and inspirational.
I'm thrilled to assist, Rajendra!
Hi Matt! I watched several of your videos and have greatly appreciated the information you provide and the energetic manner that you do it. How have I missed the fact that you are in Albany?? For some reason I thought you were in Florida. I'm in New Hampshire and have grown from a bin in the kitchen to a flow through in my basement, due in large part to helpful people like yourself. Love your content!
Hey Neighbor! My wife and I go to Florida for a couple weeks a year - you may have caught one of the on-the-road videos where we visited some southern worm farmers. I look forward to hearing of your success!
Yah Mon Rick Simpson has been a hero of mine (And many!) For years!!....love the episode youngin. Aight One
That is a great video. I always learn from your video. Wearing your Worm People hat, people ask about Worm People and that offers an opportunity to market your business. I like mine, thanks. Mike
Hey Mike! It's helping good folks like you that keeps me going.
What a great crew - that was a great session. You answered a lot of questions. You said that you would do an update on using wheatgrass. I have small bins and I tear it apart and divide it up. It is grown without a base - no peat, castings or compost. Do you ever put it in the blender and make it into a slurry?
Hey Angus, I've tried sending the wheatgrass through the garbage disposal setup... but I tend to like the pads because I can move them as necessary. Let me know how it goes - we have a new section on the forum where you can share your process discuss.wormpeople.com/space/1002440409
Hello, appreciate all the info. can you tell me what types of warming mats you use for the breeder beds? thanks
When is the breeding course coming out?
Hey guys, thanks again for these videos. I have a Worm Tea question. Obviously, the molasses is added to the mix to feed the microbiology in the tea. Do you think that adding more sugars would extend the shelf life or do you think it would start to ferment?
Will Capt Matt sign a hat for me? Also, where do you get the breeder bins? Thanks !!
Those bins look like concrete mixing tubs.. check out home depot, Lowes, tractor supply, etc
Your the sleepy Joe of the worms lol
Is yeast ok to feed worms?
Love your work.
My question is I want to harvest about 100 - 150lbs a year. I like to set my goals then work backwards, what do need to do,
150lbs of Worms or castings?
@@CaptainMattsWorms I'm sorry castings
Worm castings
Question: have you tested feeding 1 bin just bananas, 1 bin just watermelon etc for 6 months and see if one makes better casting or more worms in one bin say? would be good to see tested
Sounds like an interesting experiment, Warwick! I'd love to hear the results if you try it - There are quite a few Worm People over at discuss.wormpeople.com/ that conduct similar experiments to test ideas. I'd love for you to chime in with your thoughts and questions - even if you're unable to experiment yourself.
I give a rough chop on the banana peels and put them into a toilet paper roll. Within about 5 days the roll will be nearly FILLED with worms having a "worm party".
Have not yet experimented with watermelon.
Let me know if you do some experimenting.

I bought some Super Reds. Can these be put directly in the garden as well?
Hmm... they likely do best a composting environment. This is a good question to ask the other Worm People at discuss.wormpeople.com/
How do I get to sign ip for the newsletter.
Hi Victoria… here’s the link wormpeople.com/subscribe/
$300 or $600 dollars each week oh boy I will very very happy from living in hard poverty that kind of money is a million for me...
No sound

Sound is fine
They fixed it.
This is the MOST informative UA-cam for worm farming!🪱❤️🪱.
I have had mine a year, it IS an obsession. I love them! Could I keep them in my greenhouse in the winter? My bin is getting too large for my closet.
What would be the lowest temperature they would survive?
