  • A Brief History of Thomastown Park - Brought to you by Cyfarthfa Castle & the 'Parks Alive' Project
Cyfarthfa Castle have teamed up with #MTCBC Planning & Countryside Department on a project called 'Parks Alive'.
Originally our Community Officer, Chris Parry, was working with the team at MTCBC to deliver a range of walking tours across Merthyr Tydfil, now we have created a digital look at some of Merthyr's stunning park lands, starting with the original Recreation Grounds for Merthyr, Thomastown park.

The park keeper would use his whistle if we were cycling in the new park, the council got fed up and wrote a notice in CHALK by the gate - did the trick, nope!

I grew up in Dan y Parc and Thomas Town was my playground. Was the original park connected unlike today where you need to cross the road ?

Hi, No it has always had that road way there, obviously way less busy than nowadays but always a road of some sort.
