#filmphotography #35mm Film #olympus
Its been 8 mos since you posted a video....We miss you bro..... Hope all is ok.... Hope you come back to youtube soon.
This shows you that the tool you use, is not always as important as how you use them. I love every image taken with the Olympus OM1. Thank you Paul. Much LOVE for sharing yours with us.
These are the photography videos I like! Relaxing music, good scenery, a photographer in their element, and nice conversation.
Great Video Paul! I'm arrogant enough to believe that my comment on your last video about my OM2 inspired this video! I agree the OM range were up there in their time! Fantastic video, thanks!
You might be right Tony
I would sell every camera of mine in a heartbeat, save my OM-2
Hi Paul, hope life is going well down under.
Because I haven’t seen anything from you popping up on UA-cam I said I would send you a message to say hi and hope what ever your doing wrong now is going well.
I am wounded if your having a camera low at the minute as we all go have times that we go nuts with making photography and afterwards take a rest from it.
Take care and if your visiting Ireland as some point let me know as I’d love to invite you out for a day in Dublin.
All the very best, Jonathan William Fay 😊
Inspiring as always, Paul. Thank you. I seem to always gravitate to my M6 or MP. You have motivated me to load my Nikon FA and take it for a walk tomorrow. I appreciate you and your work in producing these beautiful videos. Cheers-lt
Thanks Linford, stay well!
Nikon FA. Great camera! I owned one. Gave it to a young waitress whom I just met and didn’t know at all, who was all excited about getting into film photography but couldn’t afford a camera. It’s ok, I also own a Nikon F. Six other vintage film SLRs, also including the Olympus OM-1 and the Olympus OM-2SP. Happy shooting!
Hi Paul. Hope you are fine since I haven't seen new videos since many months. Going to HK and Viêt Nam next month. Hope to visit NZ again next yr. Stay safe! Greets from Switzerland.
Man, it's been over a year? Miss your videos Paul. Hope all is well. Have a great Christmas.
Same to you, take care!
How nice. That is easily my favourite film camera. Never thought to use a zoom with the OM, but going to try the 28-48 in about a week
Thank you good luck and enjoy!
It’s been a while mate. Would love to see a new trial and tribulations video.
I agree. Where are you. I pray all is well. Lol. I get the same love when I'm not on my channel for awhile. I really enjoy your videos.
Hi Paul. long time no see. Glad to see you're still out there shooting. Very chilled vid, yummy looking lunch. Stay safe mate.
great video as always thanks for your work
Great video thanks a lot happy Christmass time from Frankfurt
Great stuff. The whole thing. Brilliant.
Thank you!
Nice Camera that OM 1
Everything set in the right place. Focus, Aperture and shutter speed, all set around the lens, mirror lock up, delay timer.
Great camera Great system. Maitani got it right.
He did indeed
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer Thanks Paul
I've used Zuiko prime lenses since the nineteen seventies and they are as sharp as any other 35mm Lenses. They were made for TMAX and Delta.
I really like your photographery. 👍
Nicely done!
👍Thanks Paul.
wanted to share a compliment for your videowork in telling the story! that calf is very lovely and i hope they live a long happy life.
I hope so also
We grew puha/watercress by accident out the front of our house in the 80s and 90s. Would regularly get people ask if they could take some. Often given a koha of some whitebait. Love the OM1 as well, the viewfinder is absolutely gorgeous.
Thanks mate
Lovely to see you using the wonderful Olympus again. It was the first proper camera I bought when a teenager still have a selection of primes which are beautiful to use. I thought if it was good enough for Erwitt, Kertesz & Bailey I should choose it. I hope you do a few more videos with tri-x/hp5 or panF ( try downrated 1 stop ) with your 50/1.4 or other primes. I like that you give your images room to breathe when showing them. Look forward to next video. All the best from Cape Cod.
Cheers m
Another great video Paul. Love your shot of the farm. ☺️ Now i’m inspired to cook up some watercress on my days off 😬
Don't eat it all 😂 save me some!
Very nice! I also love my Olympus OM-1n. Great camera and lenses for it! Thanks.
What a beautiful camera Paul , I also have one sitting on my shelf with half a roll of HP5 in it , I think it’s about time I finished it off , thanks for the reminder , thanks for the great content 👌
Thanks Gary
Inspirational video, Paul. Thanks for sharing your work
Thank you Brian
God, I envy your surroundings. I'm stuck in a frozen wasteland covered by gray clouds every day. I vow to visit New Zealand!
Enjoyed this again and love the images, especially the final one; beautiful. As a kid I lusted after the OM1 more than any camera, but could never afford one. I bought the brochure before a camera! Still have it 😊 I used to wait for theSunday Supplement to my dad’s paper for their full page ads featuring David Bailey, Patrick Lichfield, the mountaineer Bonnington et al and instead of working at school wasted hours drawing them!
I’ve since had several since; love it and the OM2 with its superb meter, and added a mint OM1 with 50mm f1.4 last month after breaking the rewind crank on my bought ‘new and unused’ investment OM2 rewinding its 2nd ever film 😢. Should have had a CLA given 45 year old oil etc.
I have the 28mm f2.8, 135mm f3.5 and that zoom; never used the zoom much but probably should looking at what you got out of it. One lens I really would recommend is the 50mm f3.5 Macro. It is so sharp, even on my newly arrived XT5. Not just up to 40mpx but 40 crammed onto an APS sensor with that tight pitch size - still bitingly sharp. Analogue Insight’s review on UA-cam shows how good it is.
Nice insights, I love their lenses!
Cocina y fotografía? Me gusta 😂😂
Gracias
Lovely video, Paul! And lovely photos! I haven't used my OM-1 in ages!
Nice one Paul.
It got me to thinking that the photos, had they been in color would have had less impact, whereas the black and white really suited these images and all of them reminded me of growing up on farms here in NZ in the 50's and 60's.
I have a number of family photos from that time on the farm and the similarities, between those and your images a really close. Brings back memories of very happy and simpler times.
Thanks Paul. Great to see you using an OM-1. I have a number of cameras, both digital and analogue, but come back to either my OM-1 or OM2N every time. More of this please.
Cheers John
Lovely pics. Enjoyed the run through lunch as well. We would love a tour of your place next time. Take care
Thankyou!
Lovely Jubly as per, Cheers~ Peter
Wow - always love your stuff Paul, so relaxing, inspiring and refreshing. I'm not sure why - I don't shoot film or black and white or sceneries or anything like that, but I still manage to get so much from your videos. It just shows you have broad appeal to the photographic community. I head off for a month in New Zealand to catch up with my 'Whanau', in just over 3 weeks. Can't wait to touch base big fella!
Cheers Phillip look forward to catching up!
Interesting video
Hello Paul! I enviously looked at that beautiful spring landscape again. Here we are going into winter. By the way, this is the real Bio meal.
nice lights, Tamás.
Thanks Tamas!
Hello Paul. Lovely video again. Beautiful photos as usual. Nice to see you using one of your Olympus cameras. Must be a refreshing change for you. Thankyou. 🏴👍
Yes thanks Andrew, must use them more often.
Good on ya Paul, some quality images there and looks like you had a fantastic day all round. John Pouw in the deep south.
Thanks John
Lovely episode.
Inspired to add watercress to tomorrow’s Thanksgiving menu.
The good thing about being a roaming photographer locally is that you notice stuff that others bypass. I spotted a few whitethorn trees/bushes in a hedge a short drive away. I wandered back with a container and two months later, hey presto Sloe gin, four bottles ..... its going to be a very merry christmas. Couldn't believe my luck when I found some bigger bushes even closer to home whilst following a stream down to the river. I'll have to wait until next autumn to harvest them.
Watercress yummy. There's several different varieties but I love that peppery taste, like coriander.
Oh, BTW nice photo's.
Thanks Iain enjoy the Gin
Mate. I’ve been waiting for this one! Hope you are enjoying the camera - use it more often! I’m glad you bought it off me a couple of years back. Cheers :)
Cheers Scottie
top work as always mate, love that frame at 8:52 love the look of that tucker too enjoyed that episode mate cheers
Thanks Paul was almost going to make a print of that. May still do it.
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer do it mate my new years reso is to print and set up a website about time I got a bit more organised.
Good video. Good to see you and your photography. I use RFDR and SLR, prefer SLR!.The BW images beautiul tones. Any filters? All best! Make more!
Hi Paul. I recently developed some Portra that I shot in my OM1 in April 2021! Scanned the negs today. I’d forgotten about the roll and also how much I love using the 100mm zuiko with it. What a classic combo. You’re right - definitely one of the best film camera of all time. Must use it more! As you said, it’s a crime that it sits waiting to be taken out!
Great vid 👍 Cheers
Cheers Matt
Nice video ! Photography as daily life . Part of a lifestyle.
This means a lot to me …. Thanks … ☺️
Thanks Jon
Nice video! I have an OM-1 that I bought new in about 1974. A lot of other cameras with formats from 110 to 4x5 have gone through my hands in the past but the OM-1 is always loaded and nearby.
p.s. that patch of watercress was mouth watering 😋
Thanks Philip
Nice vid sir! Really have a hankering to get out with my Fuji 6x9 now!
Good onya mate
I found an OM2 recently with the same lens and yes it is sitting on my shelf. Seems I now need to put some film in it and get out there.
you will not be disappointed, greatest camera ever made
Really enjoyed this one Paul. Your doing New Zealand justice. Really beautiful. Glad I’m not the only one that talks to cows! 🐄 🤣 wonderful photos mate.
Meant to add the environmental portrait at 8:20 is just wonderful. Love it 🎉
Cheers mate!
Hi Paul, I would have liked to have known or possibly seen how you created the prints.
Got the M1 before they changed the name beautiful camera well-designed and light
If you still have it that’s now a heck of an investment given the silly added value rarity thing, they seem to be going for silly prices lately though OMs don’t seem to have gone up in value like most film gear over the past couple of years, which is odd. Unfair too but good for us as fans!
I like your videos, unfortunately there are not any new ones. This was 11 months ago. I hope everything is ok. Kind regards from Sweden
Another awesome and relaxing video Paul, do you use filters when shooting? the tonality and contrast in those clouds were stunning.
I rarely use filters
Hey, ive noticed you have not been producing any youtube videos for a while, just a quick message to say i hope you are in good health.
I’ve had my OM-1 since I bought it new in the 1980’s. I use occasionally but when I do I really love it. I also use yellow/orange or red filters with a hand light meter as cannot get batteries for it and the substitutes are expensive and drain even when not in use. Do you have similar problems with replacement batteries in NZ? Lovely video and nice shots and a gorgeous country. Regards.
Hi Victor, haven''t used this camera since I brought it 2 years ago, batteries still working
Beautiful content again! I’m a little curious about the land you’re walking around. Are they public lands or private?
Thanks John, this is private land
Hey Paul, sorry if this has been asked before but what bag is that?
Hey mate, its a Lowerpro Photo Hatchback 16L AW
Stunning images, nicely presented and put together.
I added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with another retro film photographer?
I will never understand why you put the photos so small when you pass them ... most of you, like me, look at you from a smartphone. I think it's cool for you, actually we don't see anything at all. small photos and when half a second passes. hmm...
That's too bad, I will take your comments on board and look at ways to improve the experience for you. Thanks for watching!
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer sorry if I took the liberty but I found it frustrating to watch the video. what is the essence of a photographer? the photography. so i always hope to see why someone invites me to see the video of him. Of course, explanations are important. why a person gets to make certain choices. but if then for the user like me, he stays a second to see a photo the size of a postage stamp it's just a little frustrating. I see that no one ever makes this comment so I think you are right to continue like this. it's probably just me that feels this need. a greeting
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer I might watch on my iPad but always go back and watch on tv. Wouldn’t dream of wasting content like this on my phone screen.
