thank you for this, i'll definitely try to remember this in upcoming games and when i go to the playoffs in a few weeks! i definitely have a habit of getting annoyed in a game situation, usually just at myself haha

Would love your thoughts on an a 10yr old baseball player. She played tball, coach pitch and then. Fastpitch softball for two season - then switched to baseball (to play with cousins) and overall she enjoys baseball a lot more *at this age* she was also having the perfectionism fears with SB and not recognizing her positives so we hoped the change with get her back to just playing the game.
We are moving into Middle School in the fall and getting a lot of chatter asking when we are putting her back in softball instead. *She will go to Majors Little League or FP Softball and trying to decide how much I should push her back towards softball now or let it ride a bit longer…
She holds her own with the Minors baseball players, plays middle infield, pitched all last season (but prefers 2nd or SS) and in the top group of our hitters.. but I know baseball has a shelf life for her coming soon.
She is doing a SB summer camp this week and doing well but says her preference is still baseball.

its true that baseball will have a shelf life, and also she may stop having as much fun being around all boys vs all girls if she switched to softball. BUT - sports are meant to be fun, and that's the first priority. And baseball is building the same skills as softball - she wont be left behind. So my vote is to let her choose what she wants - it's her activity, her fun, her choice.

I’ve had the same thoughts on letting her just do what is fun and it not hurting, but it’s always nice to here it from someone with more *solid experience*, especially when the topic of “when will she switch” comes up from other coaches or friends.
I actually coach for our local little league (Minors) and see at the 10yr old age group locally, the boys are a bit ahead of the girls in overall skills and competition, so at least while she is figuring it out, she is being challenged.
Thanks again for all your content, as a parent and coach it is always timely and helpful!
