This is beautiful. I may not be from Canada, but I am from the US, descended from an indigenous people, and sadly, our stories here are not much different. I actually feel like Canada and its people are now acknowledging the hurt that was done to these cultures, but here in the States, I feel like, despite the fact we are also finding these unmarked graves of children forced to abandon their culture, we are still sweeping it under the rug. I wish we would acknowledge these hurts more, so maybe one day, we can all start to heal together, as one nation, with no divides.
You are incredibly gifted. I remember the moment I heard the partially created version last year. The complete version is a gift. Never stop singing the message! This needs to go global!!!
I sat here and cried listening to this song, looking over at my mom sleep knowing she is a survivor and how close I came to being a survivor myself. My life could have been so much different if I was born only 5 yrs earlier.
This is so incredibly powerful. I listen with the hope that one day my own country, The United States, might decide to follow Canada in its brave and necessary work to unearth the atrocities committed against the Indigenous First Nations peoples and seek healing and reconciliation for all. My own country too has committed our own such atrocities and I hope one day we can begin this needed work too.
First time I saw parts of this was on TikTok. I fell in love with this song immediately. Now listening to it in it's full length and hearing all of the stories at the end just broke me. What happened to us?
I am tempted to have my school play this on repeat on September 30th, this man deserves our respect as Canadians we shall stand with Jordan Hart and this shall be our new national anthem.
Absolutely powerful, this is absolutely moving, you did a phenomenal job. I remember when you put out part 1, and all the work you've done, how much you talked to Indigenous peoples, and learned their stories. I'm grateful that we have this song to remember, for years and years to come. Truly inspiring. For anyone reading, University of Alberta in Canada offers a free Indigenous Canada course, which includes the topics such as the fur trade, land claims, environmental impacts, legal systems and rights, contemporary Indigenous life, art and its expressions, and more. Non-Indigenous people should take this day (Sept 30th: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation) to learn more about Indigenous peoples and communities, and to listen to and support Indigenous voices. The power that we have is knowledge, and willingness to learn Canada's dark past, so we can learn and grow as a nation and as a world.
My fav song this song played at my school assembly and was so heartbreaking bowing that Kamloops was we’re I was born and thousands of people died there and were treated like garbage
Absolutely beautiful. When you first put out the first chorus of the song I fell in love with it and been following it since day one just waiting for the end product. Absolutely amazing, beautiful work to all those involved. I have been trying for years to learn my family's history and culture only learning small bits at a time. Being raised white and not knowing why you dont fit in with the rest of the people around you even though you look like them. Not know why you feel like theres a big part of you missing because you didnt have a choice in how you where raised. being told your one thing when deep down you know thats not right. Being told that that part of you isnt right, that your acting uncivilized. Being told that living like that is like living like an animal. Being told that all First Nations are just drug addicts and alcoholics and that you don't want to be associated with them. A constant battle with yourself because you don't know how you're supposed to act, society says to act one way but ur heart and mind say another. Not knowing where you came from its hard
Powerful and beautiful song! Relatable to Americans too, in the sense that there is still so much racism and cruelty in our world. Such powerful and truthful lyrics in your song!
So many things like this happened in the states too. I wish you could wrote a song for them, then maybe more Americans would listen to how we harmed our first nations people

Till all parts of Truth and Reconciliation have been enacted and all the kids have been found. This is my Country's anthem at least according to me.
Absolutely for me too

When you first posted the first verse I got chills…now with the second verse I cry singing along!
Lyrics. Choir. Stories. Vocal. This is everything.
I listen to this on Spotify a couple of times a week. Never forget.
I listen to this every year with my children, thinking of my grandma and mom 🧡
He just wrote it a year ago 😂😂

I completely agree.
It's not fair what our ancestors did to the First Nations children that were completely innocent. 😢

I'm American. Sitting here crying for the lost and stolen. I felt this song to my core for my beloved USA. We all need to stand together....
The New York post said this is all bogus read the article
I wish the US would also wake up just as Canada has.
