A little too late. Especially now, that she turned her back on Aegon, Aemond and Daeron, who much like Helaena, should be protected at all costs and doesn't really deserve to get entangled in all of this.
1:19 "You wish to rule the Seven Kingdoms, but you rain ruin and death upon its smallfolk when you’ve been insulted because it makes you feel strong? And now you seek to corrupt your sister? Of all our line, the gentlest and most deserving of your protection!" Aemond's wrath is the very reason he could never claim the throne. He has lost the trust of the small council, his family, and the smallfolk. Moreover, trying to force Helena to fight against her will is an act not even Aegon would do.
I don't think it's just the weight of the crown in and of itself. I think the fact of the matter is: he thought he'd be good at being King and he's not. He made like 2 smart moves, like sending for Otto (let's bring a statesman with a lot of experience back), but he's bad at being King. He's made himself so dangerous that everyone is afraid of him. He's too much like Daemon to be like Viserys and it's killing him because he always thought, "if only I were the oldest son, everything would just work out", but he immediately gets power and alienates half the small council, which makes the other half skittish, so he scatters the small council to the wind.
@@savannahs8914 Just goes to show that some times their are good reasons why second sons don’t inherit, Aemond was never meant to be king just he was never meant to have Vhagar, both times he took power that other people didn’t want him to have and now, the realm is at war because of it.
@@t-rexcellentreviews1663 It's even worse in the show because Rhaenyra was seriously considering abdicating out of respect for Alicent and not wanting to plunge the realms into mutually destructive war before Aemond decides he wants to pull the equivalent of pointing a loaded gun at Lucerys. Rhaneyra's almost done nothing directly and Aemond's torn them apart roasting Aegon and sending Criston on a suicide mission. Even her propaganda win with the smallfolk riot after sending food is because he bizarrely wants to lock in starving people in a city rather than just let them leave or go break the blockade with Vhagar.
If anyone can ride a dragon then Targaryens aren't special. They are legally allowed to do all this weird sh*t like marrying siblings because they are supposedly more than mortal men. I hate to say Aemond is right, but he's right.
@@user-ti5cw1ug6lWhile it can’t be “proven” like with DNA test in a medieval level society. Most of the Dragonseeds are according to history to be Targaryen bastards. But I have a quest as Prince Regent whom holds more power him or Helaena as “queen”. As while a queens authority comes from her husband traditionally Aegon is still alive so Aemond is above when Otto was Viserys steward in the years of his life but would Aemond be above Helaena now?
@@user-ti5cw1ug6l As far as we know only Targs can, in fact, ride Dragons. Give it 10 years and we'll have a show about Old Valyria (sp) and we will learn what sort of Blood Magic both created the Dragons and made it so only certain families can claim them.
Can the both of you stop mentioning her hair and her wig. That doesn't matter at all. The actress is prettier enough. If you think someone is only pretty based off of their hair then I'm sorry to break it to you. You haven't grown as a *man* yet.
@@peytonsmith1062 This actress looks like a fairy, don't get me wrong. It's the wonky props in this specific scene, fixed in the next scene in my opinion. Nothing wrong with debating which scene she looks better in especially in a show with really nice drip. I would hardly call that rude or disrespectful. It's really hard to make any of these actors or actresses look bad anyway. Usually it is because of something like Jace's season 1 wig and not the actors and actresses.
The only time ive seen her truly think of her daughter first and foremost. When she asks Aemond "And who will she be if her mind is broken?!" I wish my mother cared even half that much...
Nah. You don't want someone like Alicent as your mother. She's too flawed and negligent. She's only NOW thinking of the consequences of her acts and defending Helaena's opinion, but for years, all she prioritized was the Green's rule and Otto's scheme, completely disregarding if not crushing whatever her children trully desired. It's like Rhaenyra later called out on her, "It's too late now!" Alicent may regret NOW and is trying to fix things, but the damage is already done and is irreversible. Aemond has become a vicious psychopath, Aegon is turning from a mess of a King to a paranoic and dangerous man, Helaena has nowhere to go where she'll be safe because she's been dragged to this damn war against her will... all of their lives have been ruined and Alicent did not try to save them or be there for them until it was far too late to do anything!
She trying to make up for years of poor motherhood has it is. She is only now realising that being queen might not have been the best thing of her daughter. Plus Helean is the only person who has show love to Alicent without asking for anything. She even forgave her without having to be asked, Helean is the only person in the world who Alicent knowns loves her…and isn’t a monster
I love how Haelena speaks in a way that is clearly directed to the other person's conflicts. She could have phrased it any other way, but she choose to make her speech direct to them. "I was happier before I was queen" - Well, so did Alicent. Being Queen brough her nothing but pain. "I wont burn anyone" - Is letting him know, early on, that she knows what he did to their brother.
No, that isn’t what „I won‘t burn anyone is saying“, she’s rebuking the use he intends her for there. She let him know what he did to Aegon when she asked him in the throne room „if it was worth it?“
@OpalLeigh-il8yj she can't do anything, what punish aegon ? On what authority?she's the queen consort when that happened, she didn't kill her when others would've done so
It's crazy the standards people set for her when there's characters like Rhaenys that killed hundreds of smallfolk on her dragon. If Allicent isn't a "good guy" then idk who else fits other than Orwylle.
exactöly...she herself made this situation like this and Rahenyra didnt even want to kill Aegon but now she absolutely has to ... if they never rebelled everyboidy would have survived....Alicent is like thois stupid radical conservative woman who activly works against other women and preaches about dignity and blahblah and then is surprised when rights are taken away from her...
"It's too late now!" _Rhaenyra, later in the Episode One of Alicent's greatest flaws, maybe her greatest: she always only tries to do right by her loved ones, TRULLY *genuinely* try, when it's already far too late to change anything.
@@MrDibara No she isn't. She literally is fine with Rhaenyra killing her sons and doesn't even bring up the fact that her grandson was murdered when Rhaenyra asks for "a son for a son". S2 Alicent is a Rhaenyra simp and it's character assassination of the highest magnitude. Not even Daenerys got it this bad.
@unc54 First of all, for it to be character assassination, it has to go against the way her character was set up previously. In Season 1 not only did she still have some affection for Rheanyra (saying that they shouldn't have her killed after Aegon was crowned) but the majority of the scenes with her sons is her fighting with them (she quite literally say to Aegon "you are no son of mine"). That was the case before and it most certainly is the case now that one of her sons is a drunken rapist and the other is a homicidal maniac that loses his shit every time his ego is hurt. No shit she goes with Rheanyra. The only options are either Aemond wins and he burns down half the kingdom in the process, or the blacks win and all of them die. Also, she is clearly NOT ok with her children being killed. Even after siding with Rheanyra, she still tries to bargain for them to somehow get away fine and live free. After Rheanyra tells him that she has to kill Aegon, she takes like a whole minute to respond and she only agrees because at this point Aegon is crippled beyond repair and in constant pain, so executing him be just putting him out of his misery.
This scene really shows that Alicent herself realized she was a horrible mother, seeing as her eldest is broken, her second one is is bloodthirsty and vindictive, and her daughter is suffering emotionally. Her youngest child being spared the terrible qualities of his elder brothers because he wasn't raised in around Alicent.
As if other persons and events didn’t influence them, as if Aegon’s brokenness is not influenced by Daemon’s cruel decision to snipe a family member, as if Viserys’ negligence & early death (relative to Aegon & Aemond) wasn’t detrimental to the development of Aegon & Aemond, as if Alicent didn’t and still doesn’t try her best to be there for all of her kids despite being constantly manipulated by her father and lied to by her only friend. Bit biased don’t you think? She’s not a great mother due to some forcing but horrible is a vile distortion of reality. Horrible parents are negligent and abusive. Daemon for example is quite horrible. Have you ever seen him interacting with his 2 daughters who lost their mother at a young age? No, because such a scene never occured, because Daemon is actually one of the worst parents of this show
Aemond could have done better convincing Haelena to help, but he's not wrong that the Green is in perilous time. Aemond and Cole seem to be the only ones who are aware at they are at war, in feudal succession crisis, and what they are going to lose should they fail to win. "Not like this." said Alicent without giving any reasonable alternative. Oh wait, she had one: throwing her sons, her brother, her father, and her lover under the bus so she could get away with having a hand in causing the Dance of the Dragons.
@@SlimKim3 also you know that he would send Helaena to her death....what happens then? when both Aemond and Helaena are dead? what does it all even matter then? thankfully for them Rhaenyra is just an idiot enough to think that Aemond would surrender seeing that he is sooo greatly overmatched now , stupid , Helaena woyuldnt be able to fight on Dreamfyre...she would die or if not then her mind would be incredibly broken afterthat...leave the poor girl alone! Vhagar and Dreamfyre cant stand a chance against Vermithor,Silverwing,Syrax,Caraxes and Seasmoke....Rhaenyra doesnt even need to send Moondancer and Vermax...can keep her heirs safe , you sure do know how story ends for Vhagar....Dreamfyre wouldnt help at this point with Helaena,,,he would only put helaena in danger
Don’t really know why Aemond doesn’t addressed Helena’s son dying, that would be a really good argument for Helena to get revenge from Daemon and Rhaenyra
It might also be that she blames aemond more than daemon since she knew what really happened what aemond did to Luc was a direct consequence to what happened to jaehareys and she knows that why she is asking daemon to basically kill aemond he now knows his true part in what is to come. She is a dreamer she would know what truly happened and kept it to herself while silently hating aemond.
@@Mcherri I think that's a bit of a stretch to say that Helena blames Aemond for the death of her son when that a lot of other people's fault more than Aemond, like how there's kingsguard assigned to protect Helena and her children or how Cole and Alicent were sleeping which meant cole couldn't protect Helena
It's Aemonds fault. It's not enough that he killed Lucerys and then Aegons son and heir was killed for it. He burned Aegon. Then he burned a whole city. He cares f all for his family or the realm and just wants the throne and recognition.
@@McherriThere is *literally* no Logical line of reasoning that would see you blame anyone for Jaehaerys‘ death, other than Daemon and his two hirelings.
At this point the only person who can turn this around is Otto Hightower... wherever he is... Aemond lacks the diplomatic skill, Alicent is backstabing her family, and Helena is collapsing into despair. I'm a proud Black 🖤 supporter but I don't desire to see so much misery wrecked upon the Greens or have Aemond commit more wartime dragon crimes.
Show Helaena doesn't really care tho, she said "children die all the time" to the death of her boy and later appeared on a vision to motivate the man responsible.
@@ambience273 I believe she was speaking out of grief and depression imo when she said that as a way to rationalize the mob who swarmed her carriage when during the funerary procession. As for her visions/dreams I think that's entirely disconnected from who she is as a person or what she's lost. The vision/dreams are much bigger than her personal grievances and as dragon dreamer I think she's always been aware of that. She rattles off incoherent babblings she doesn't fully understand that later come true in some fashion. It's possible she simply saw Daemon as part of her vision/dream not connecting that it was actual Daemon. Because she probably see's people in vision/dreams all the time but doesn't see them as they in the present.
If you haven't seen the full finale but...... SPOILERS Otto is in a cage, my dude, so either he was captured by the Black Supporters or Aemond's troops, actually forced Otto to return to Kings Landing. And considering what happens in the novel if you haven't read it well you'll see in the future.
I mean...Aemond's not wrong though. Either their family wins or their lives are forfeit. Aemond's, Aegon's, Daeron's, Otto's, Gwayne's, Criston's. Anyone who supported them would be in danger of reprisal. I mean he shouldn't have been physical with his sister like that, of course.
Yep. And he's proven right when Rhaenyra demands Aegon's head when she's with Alicent. Her claim won't be secure until Aegon, Aemond and Daeron are all dead, something which Alicent SHOULD know since she's the one who told her children this. They have butchered Alicent so badly in this episode and the season as a whole.
@SolarDragon007 she didn't demand it ,it's expected of her to publicly execute him ,not yall doing mental gymnastics to justify that he's correct and alicent's fear is correct when it's only because of their own doing, they started this war ,they wanted this, rhaenyra never planned to kill anyone, she's to become the queen in a normal process but they took her throne

Alicent’s sons are like this because she raised them to believe that Rhaenyra will kill them when she ascends the throne. Before all of this happened, before Aemond killed Luke, Rhaenyra would’ve NEVER harmed her own kin, even if they are her half siblings from Alicent.
Never hurt her siblings? Really? She ordered her 10 year old half brother be questioned sharply (meaning tortured) She admitted in this very episode that a full surrender wasn't enough. Jaeherys severed head wasn't enough. "A son for a son" she says. The audacity
@@GreaterGrievobeast55 yeah i think she was trying to scare the boy into admitting it was his mother poisoning his mind instead the coward blames his brother. alicent was a crap mom who scared her children with the idea rhaenyra wanted to kill them and rhaenyra didnt want to kill them. you have to remember aemond threatened to feed his cousins to his dragon because they were verbally sharp with him over the whole vhagar thing then he attacks them physically and gets his eye cut out he was about to bash his cousins head in with a rock before luc stepped in with that knife. aemond was damaged goods and didnt deserve a dragon.
@mebhisntatownie Not really. Action and outcome both play a role, and the only time it's "better late than not at all" is when the outcome has yet to exceed the action in terms of impact. We're well past that here.
He’s not fighting for the greens, he’s fighting for himself, Aemond has killed more members of his own family more than any other Targaryen in history, not even the Maegor the Cruel killed this many, and to those members of his family that he’s supposedly fighting for, he’s been nothing but a bastard to, he coldly dismissed his mother from the council, burned his own brother for power, indirectly caused the assassination of the heir to the throne, threatened his sister with death if she spoke the truth about what he did to her husband, intimidated his lords into obeying his every command, rained death upon innocent smallfolk and now, that things are starting to not go his way, he’s really starting to lose his mind.

Even at this moment as much as I dont like the Greens Aemond is right Alicent's mercy and feelings of comradery have brought their faction into this position.
Yes, Aemond is a very unpleasant man. But he's not entirely wrong. The newly claimed dragons may have unexperienced riders, but any one dragon is a huge bonus for either side. There's three. Likely four, though Sheepstealer has never been tamed. Rhynera is also gaining the people's support. Daemon is collecting an army. Aegon is out of play. The Greens don't have much going for them right now. Aemond's trying to keep them alive, despite causing several issues.
It took the finale for people to finally appreciate that Allicent, a woman, is just as much to blame as Otto, a man, in the chain of events unfolding. All the time we're hearing about how Allicent and Rhaenyra are subject to the men around them but it's a two way street. Just as Otto was strong-armed in episode 3 of season 1 by his older brother into resuming pushing for Aegon, so too did Allicent continue the course by repeatedly and aggressively enforcing the idea into Aegon's reluctant and initially refusing mind, first, that Rhaenyra was a threat to him and second when, in episode 9 of season 1, she manipulated him away from the truth only he was honest enough to appreciate, that Viserys didn't like him and never wanted him for King. She, as a woman and mother, could very easily have decided against Otto's foreboding but instead steered right into it and now abandons her son just as quickly as she scorned him, just as quickly as she forced him to an ascension he desperately ran from.
They really ruined Rhaenyra and Alicent by trying to make them more progressive. They took away their agency. As if women are somehow better than men based on their sex or as if they can't be ambitious for ambition's sake. Rhaenyra couldn't want The Throne because it's hers by rights, it has to be because of The Prophecy, to the point she was willing to give it up. Alicent can't want power because she's played her role and now she expects the reward of having influence over what happens in the rest of Targaryen history, she has to misunderstand Viserys' drug-induced last words, making her look like an absolute dumbass. What a disappointment.
@Δ-Δ-Δ-Δ no one is saying they're better just because of gender ,no one ever said it in real life either ,a good ruler is a good ruler regardless of gender
Viserys is a big part of the blame too. He made multiple decisions and didn't make other decisions that he should have, ensuring the civil war. It escaped people's notice because they were so enthralled by Paddy's acting.
@@fairshareofdrownedsouls If Viserys had been more concerned with raising Aegon or Aemond, maybe he could've been able to foster a relationship between Rhaenyra and them. But he felt too guilty to connect with Aegon and too bitter to father Aemond.

"Now you seek to corrupt your sister, of all our line, the gentlest and most deserving of your protection!" This reminds me of a friend of mine who has a younger sister. Knowing how the world is he is always very protective of her when danger or threats come her way. Being the older brother, it's just a natural instinct for him to protect her. Alicent, in this case, is trying to remind him of the importance of family over power.
He's a little too late now cause everyone is scared of him, even the small counsel aren't loyal to him, the small folks hate him & his mother is scared of him
Everyone hated this episode, especially Alicent, but I thought it was a pretty fair turn for her. She knows she and all her kids will die. She's trying to save as many of her kids as she can. She should've killed Queen R in Episode 3 when she went to the Sept, but now that that easy win was let go, her only option in her mind is to save at least some of her kids and herself. Aemond would be killed no matter what she does, in her mind. Why not negotiate a lighter sentence, then?
The more I think about it, the more that makes sense. It would start a civil war within the Blacks between Daemon and Jaecarys. The Dragonseeds wouldn't have been used since it was Jaecary's idea and Daemon listens to no one but himself.
😂no. She’s not trying to save as much of her kids as she can. If she was, she’d take Aegon with her to flee with Helaena and herself, not just Helaena. What she’s doing is trying to save her life and live freely as she said several times.
Interesting that she now wants to protect Helena. She all that is wrong as a mother. I wonder if she realizes that if she had not taught her children to hate Princess R, that the siblings may have gotten along, Aegon didn't want to be King. So, he would gladly been a co- ruler with Rhyneara.
Poor Aemond , at the end they are helding him responsible for everything, these women sit cosi inside and want to win wars without action. Them women started the war, deamon committed barbarity, Aagon the fool messes everything up and everyone together became saint and blames Aemond now.
I found my bro 🙏 I feel so bad for him. He carries all this war in his shoulders and tries to do everything he can to win it and yet noone supports him but judge. Of course he loses his temper when people around do not help but interfere. And the cherrie on top Alicent’s betrayal in the end…Splendid! Don’t even guess what he will feel when finds out. And yes. I hate those arguments like omg he kills and burns people. It’s a WAR girls, “don’t you want us to prevail?!”. You started it and now you complain, suggesting nothing better instead.

Halaena probably knows this convo is going to happen. And the sad thing is that its because she is a dreamer she knows how she will die and how her remaining daughter will die.
This is why Aemond could never be a king. Yes he’s strong and firm but he’s too unstable. No one on team Green would support what he did at Sharp Point the very reason Otto was mad at Aegon was for killing all the rat catchers.
Alicent spit straight facts, but cant deny what she warned Aegon for years (Raynera must kill him to secure her claim) is come to fruition. This series loves its self fulfilling prophecies so much i wouldn’t be surprised if the White Walkers are marching BECAUSE dragons are now in westeros and they fear they might fly north to melt their icy kingdom 😅
The Wall is the ultimate deterrent. The Others are probably delaying indefinitely because they keep looking south and seeing a huge magic wall in the way. And the Dragons are probably smart enough to know that they'd be wise to have no skin in that old game of frozen chicken. A literal cold war lol
No that's something the writers seem to be pushing and is completely character flip from earlier in the season where she loudly condemned Blood & Cheese. To play ball though... she might be inclined to do that now as the war has gone too far and her supporters will demand it. Her small council already thinks she looks weak. So she'll try and act a terror to compensate. However prior to Aegons coronation I don't believe she would have considered doing something like this. Certainly not if Rhaenys was still around.
Rhaneyra would not have killed them had they not tried to usurp her. Otto placed such a fear in Alicent that at a certain point it was a self fulfilling prophecy.
Nah I don't think Rhaenyra executing Aegon pre Usurping would make sense. If anything, Aegon and his siblings are a spare in case something happened to Rhaenyra's line. But since the Greens usurped, its a requirement to basically take the heads of the usurpers and co-conspirators.
People are rlly mad at alicent for not knowing how to mother correctly. Besides her giving up aegon which is completely ooc and the fault of the writers, ppl seem to forget or just not think abt the fact that she was made a mother when she herself was a young teenager. Not only that but viserys didnt give a flying hoot about his 3 (4 lol) other kids besides rhaenyra. She was essentially a child not only trying to be a mother but a single mother at that, no wonder why she messed up. Shes a victim of her circumstances like the other characters are despite how writers come in to make them unambiguous villains.
I like to believe that Alicent probably only loved Helaena. I think she tried to look in Helaena a friend or confidant who she could share her woes with. But Helaena by nature is reserved and shy, so this just made it harder for Alicent to connect with her. But im sure she is genuine in her concern for her daughter.
Aemond really is right in the end. Alicent has been complaining her way through 5 too many situations she's giving Cersei a run for her money as a failed mother.
So true...i mean aemond shouldnt have been physical but alicent is so braindead..this is war and their lives are in the line...evn if aemond did make mistakes..but they cant run around blaiming each other during a war...they need all the dragons they have evn if halaena doesnt want to...this is so stupid how ppl think what aemond is asking is unreasonable...like come on this a war tht alicent strted and now aemond is fighting it alone

In any case, Alicent is completely bonkers and the most ruined character in the show.
No, Cersei would never do this. And unlike Alicent, at least Cersei had two children that were normal. The only normal Green kid is Daeron and that is likely because Alicent didn't raise him.
Aegon *BEGGED* them not to. He begged them to not crown him, he said he wouldn’t ever challenge Rheanyra. He wanted to escape from them. Which is why out of all the Green children....I sympathize with him the most. Even more than Helaena. Everyone talks about Helaena deserving better....well...so does Aegon. He's clearly not happy with the marriage he was forced into with his sister. He's been told his whole life as the eldest that if he doesn't do something his older sister will kill them all. They don't teach Aegon anything...he's simply yelled at and is considered to be....well stupid. He's a hypersexual alcoholic and in today's terms he would be diagnosed with a severe form of depression. I actually think of Jaime when looking at Aegon. Tywin Lannister mentioned that a Maester once told him that Jaime would never learn to read as he had what we know now as dyslexia. Tywin didn't accept that. He sat Jaime down...for HOURS daily to ensure that he learned. I didn't see one person give a tenth of this kind of energy to Aegon. they just let him be the morose, drunken, abusive fuckup that he is and then get mad when he isn't doing well as King. Like...what did you expect?! You taught him nothing! His father ignored him, and his mother's encouragement was verbal abuse and withholding actual affection. Aegon is judged the harshest, though he's given the least in terms of support and is somehow supposed to save his family? Make it make sense.
@@Virgohorrorqueen1980 EXACTLY!!! All of this is true. Alicent and Otto are to blame for it all. He’s forever disfigured & crippled because of him lost his dragon and now both Aemond and Alicent want him dead. Unbelievable
He says that "Our whishes must take second place now to what is necessary to preserve the throne" but he didn't think that way when he let his ambition and desire for power guide him in burning Aegon.
It's crazy people saying this scene is a W for Alicent when the rhetoric Aemond spews is exactly what Alicent told him to live by growing up. They blame her for failing as a mother... One son raped diana and other killed luke causing Helena to lost her son. Helena never raped or killed anyone yet people blame Aegon and Aemond's action on Alicent. She never pushed her sons like cercei pushed joffery. These boys grew up fatherless, their father had only one daughter named Raenaerya. He never loved them. Its not just the mother's failing
I’m sorry but Rhaenyra’s children grew up without father as well. Harwin Strong died when they were little and Laenor was always traveling, as the tv show implied. Daemon of course is no father figure to them as he is not to Baela and Rhaena,so that’s no excuse and they’re not monsters like Aegon and Aemond. Plus VISERYS was barely alive while Alicents were growing up, so the real problem really is alicent who incited rivalry between her kids and rhaenyra since the childhood

Book Aemond's core trait is his unwaivering loyalty to his family, so of course the writers are trying to force down our throats exactly the opposite. Your booktards are anoying this is an ADAPTATION!!! It’s gonna have some or many differences. The book wasn’t even that detailed it’s made more like a historical telling with obvious biases stf u
Love of flying is different then burning the small folk. The small folk loved Helaena for good reason and stormed the dragon pit for her. She was the kindest and best person out of the greens and the blacks and would never be down for mass murder, which is what Aemond wants from her.
@@kairicalypso6240 yes, but she is the one character who was never showed with dragon, and whose bond is completely downplayed, despite canonically have a strong bond with Dreamfyre. That was the ONLY instance where they teased the possibility of her flying and they immediately discarded it! Besides, even she is kind, the kindest of then all, they are in the middle of a war and her son was brutally murdered by the Blacks. If the writers want to alter the book so much, and if they insist this is such a feminist show (what a joke), they could give her some very understandable actions out of rage and fear. But instead they make her do absolutely nothing and try to pass it as neurodivergent representation, which is also frankly offensive as an autistic person myself. It's deeply upsetting that they will keep only the traits they can use as excuse to make Helaena a non-character.
The show sets up Daemon and Aemond as parallels the entire narrative. At every turn. Even young Daemon has his hair styled like Aemond's. They're 2 dragons circling each other for decades. I think this moment with Aemond and Helaena is meant to echo the way that Daemon put his hands on Rhaenyra when she mentioned the song of Ice and Fire. He was panicking, internally, at the idea that Viserys never considered him a real heir, so he lashes out at the woman he loves most and considers a near-extension of himself and everything he's ever wanted. Aemond loves Helaena as much as he is capable of loving anyone. She's a part of what he wants and can't have, but they're also more comfortable around each other (at least before now) than anyone else. He's panicking over their vulnerable position and the fact that he's losing ground (among other things) and so he lashes out at the woman who is an extension of him, his desires, and a "proper" Targaryen wife and mother. Daemon hurts Nyra because, instead of seeing Rhaenyra's words as a sign of *her* confidence in him, that *she* trusts him more than Viserys, all he sees his Viserys's distrust. He has everything he ever wanted, for the "true ruler" to trust him, and he can't handle it. Aemond spent years thinking he'd be the better King. That if only he'd been born first, then naturally be the best at it. And now he's Prince Regent and he's not. good. at. it. And everyone is afraid of him because you can't be Daemon and wear the crown. Daemon works because he's a Prince, but Aemond has all of Daemon's resentment and a lust for the crown and it doesn't work.
Aemond shouldn't have grabbed his sister like that, but he has a point and they have no response to the fact that their about to be killed if they don't do something. It would have been nice to see Haelena do something, even just riding her dragon as a scout.
I’m happy to see Alicent finally putting her foot down when it comes to Helena. Helena is harmless and she’s still grieving.
She doesn't give a fuck that her son died.
She got over it right away. She's totally fine, now.
I mean, sure, but there's also, you know, a war going on and she's literally half of their current dragon rider force right now lol

Notice how Aemond is using Alicents and Ottos own words, mindset and ideologies against her and Helena. He is the monster she raised
This whole episode felt like they had to make Aemond as unreasonable as possible to try to justify Alicent running to Rhaenyra and switching sides. Like the only reason people take Alicent's side in this scene is because he grabs Helaena.
They're in the middle of a war. Not sure what people expect him to do.

Mom doesn't want to win the war she started...

‘Alicent hurts the entire Green faction’
"Now you seek to corrupt your sister, of all our line, the gentlest and most deserving of your protection!" This reminds me of a friend of mine who has a younger sister. Knowing how the world is he is always very protective of her when danger or threats come her way. Being the older brother, it's just a natural instinct for him to protect her. Alicent, in this case, is trying to remind him of the importance of family over power.
For Aemond to ask this of Helena… he has to know she CANNOT do that, it’s not in her nature. Asking her to fight is just asking her to die.

What about Daeron? Rhaenyra will also have to execute him.
Alicent genuinely condemned him, even though he's as innocent as Helaena.
😂no. She’s not trying to save as much of her kids as she can. If she was, she’d take Aegon with her to flee with Helaena and herself, not just Helaena. What she’s doing is trying to save her life and live freely as she said several times.

I have never heard that theory about the White Walkers and it might be why they are taking cuz a LONG time to get to the wall lol
She made the way he’s today and turning like its nothing when its too late. U can’t wipe clean men’s ambitions that easily
People are rlly mad at alicent for not knowing how to mother correctly. Not only that but viserys didnt give a flying hoot about his 3 (4 lol) other kids besides rhaenyra. She was essentially a child not only trying to be a mother but a single mother at that, no wonder why she messed up. They don't teach Aegon anything...he's simply yelled at and is considered to be....well stupid.

Love of flying is different then burning the small folk. The small folk loved Helaena for good reason and stormed the dragon pit for her. She was the kindest and best person out of the greens and the blacks and would never be down for mass murder, which is what Aemond wants from her.

What? Book aemonds core trait is family? The guy who intentionally killed lucerys, burns the riverlands and executes bloodlines for fun?
