I'm so sorry to hear that your Crohn's has been so bad lately. Please prioritize your health and know that your subscribers will be keeping you in their thoughts!
Jeff is the mad lad of Raspberry Pi. I can't think of them without thinking of Jeff's witty humor, or how he caters to the most outlandish viewer requests. (Throw a GPU on it! 😂)
Family and health come first brother. Look after yourself and keep us posted. Will be thinking of you. If there is anyway we can help let us know. We are a community and I am sure we would all do anything we could to help a fellow engineer.
This. (I'm posting here after my other comment on your update video). Living with invisible condition, sometimes it's hard to get people to understand the challenges and the struggles that folks with conditions like this go through. I'm glad you were able to get that across, and that you got all that support . You keep doing you, and Creation bless you and your family. Going to put some tobacco down for you, you're a good person. Going to do that for somebody else too, a good friend it seems to have lost her way. Have an awesome day Jeff.
Lots of love Jeff. It's easy to burnout as a one-man-band, even without family and Chron's. I'm here if you need anything.... except changing the bag. We don't know each other well enough for that ;-)
could you send him a selection of those nreal glasses / other HMD for the situations like at 1:19. Some sort of HMD with a Charybdis split keyboard with thumb track ball- or something like it - could make it a lot more enjoyable to keep busy. I spent basically a year in bed after an accident. I also used a car phone holder to keep my phone in a better position for me
I think I can speak for everyone when I say we're all rooting for you, and we're not going anywhere. Take the time you need, we'll be here when you're back!
Hang in there Dude. Crohn's is a challenge. I was diagnosed about 45 years ago. I'm lucky, mine has been well controlled for years. Get better soon.
@@Maikelswe1985 Currently on Remicaide. It's been working for about 10 years for me. It has risks but with crohn's it is often about getting through today and dealing with the fallout tomorrow.
In my office we use to say that we dont deserve Jeff Geerling (big tech, Cloud Ops group) almost all of us have view several times you kubernetes and Ansible videos, hope you can control that beast soon..
I've recently also been diagnosed with Crohn's after my bowel perforated and I went into septic shock. Had emergency surgery and part of my bowel removed too. It sucks, I know. Best of luck with your battle. You are not alone. Look after yourself.
Jeff, thank you for all that you have taught me over the many videos you have made. Take care of yourself. God be with you through this. Good things come to those that wait. I'll wait as long as needed to see you back on the channel.
I really appreciate everything you do. I do my own stuff with raspberry pi's. I have several times thought how you have gone through so much testing and trial and error and it gives me courage to not give up so easily. So, big thanks for the inspiration you have given me!
I really hope things get better for you.
Get well dude! Everyone will be here with you're ready to make content again.
@@JeffGeerling being a techie, this might seem out of order, but;
you might want to connect to Dan Mohler (Sr.). He's all over yt. he doesn't have his own channel, but others post of him.
He's a believer on another level. Society can use a testimony. Would be nice if it's you. ❤️🔥
@@houtman7815 What a dick move. Telling someone with a real, physical disability to seek out a pastor who has built a personality cult around him. Next up: Telling Jeff to join Scientology.
My Dad really suffered with Crohn's. I know exactly what you're going through and you're doing an amazing job highlighting this debilitating disease and the impact it has on people's lives such as yours. Thank you for all your awesome work. I've learnt so much from you.
Currently in a flare up with Ulcerative Colitis and seeing this and hearing you talk about all this made my week a little better. Thanks
Hey man, thank you for talking about invisible diseases like Crohn's. It normalizes it, and encourages people who suffer from it to recognize that they are not alone. It sucks, but it's just the hand you were dealt. A significant portion of my friends and family are affected by similar afflictions, but don't talk about it. I think it's important when someone as prominent as yourself talks about it, because not everyone rolled 20s on their character creation sheet, and the fact that you persist *in spite of it* is incredibly encouraging. Thank you for all the joy and entertainment you bring my family.
Having a positive outlook, ideas to look forward to, and especially friends of family to share thoughts with are extremely important living with a chronic and invisible illness like this. I'm so lucky to have a Mom, Dad, sisters, brother, Wife, and kids who understand my suffering and can talk to me about it.
Sadly, some people have others in their lives who doubt what they're going through or the things they say because it's not so visible the signs of the struggle (even if things show up on tests or scans). That can be sooo hard to live with, and I pray those people can find someone to show them the support and love they need.
You should read "Wheat Belly" by William Davis.. most of those ending up with Crohn's are dietarily creating the vicious cycle to the full blown affect prior, and never know it. The book goes into far more detail than simply, "wheat" and without reading it you just wont get the full information. It the number one source for millions in turning their lives around, you need to find it and apply it.
Stay strong brother! Thank you for being open with us.
I've learned a lot from you Jeff, and your genuine enthusiasm in your content makes it that much more entertaining. Feel better!
I found your channel while looking for videos on k8s and have been a subscriber since. You have an incredible personality and love what you do. Hope you get better soon. Family and health comes first. We will wait :)
Sending healing thoughts your way.
Also, @Jeff, I also have a "hidden illness". I'm on the autism spectrum which makes me a bit of a pain in the rear to people -- unintentionally. I'm trying hard to overcome it, but like Crohn's, I was born with it and I can't "get rid of it". All I can do is "fight it".
@@CodeMasseur I'm not much of a social butterfly either, but the best advice I can give is to read the room, and if no one else is talking, you usually don't need to be talking. Silence is completely okay.
@@smileyguyz sadly, people like myself are unable to read the room. But, thanks for trying.
I've learn so much from your content, thank you!; Get well Jeff!
Dude, they don't get well... I'm sure he appreciates the sentiment and the gift though.
I feel you man. Crohns past 30 years, colon cancer, needed to remove my colon during height of covid. Luckily I did not need to have an ostomy but was primary caregiver for my ex who had one for 7 years.
Keep your head up, you are not alone.
I just found your channel and already appreciate the information you share in such an easy manner. Thank you! Hearing the upbeat sound in your voice is something that is hard to fake... and it shows through to your viewers. Draw on that energy as best you can, look out for yourself, and keep doing what you do. Again, thanks, and be well!
You have a great channel and you seem like a great person, Jeff (don't know about that red shirt guy though). Please stay healthy and safe, and don't skip on the family time!
People oftentimes tend to forget, that their favorite UA-cam Creators are all humans as well - humans with their own problems outside of UA-cam. I really hope that you will be well soon, being sick is no fun at all and I really appreciate you prioritising your health over UA-cam. More and more people tend to do it the other way around, which is nothing but ideal. While waiting for the next video, I will enjoy rewatching some of your older videos. You always learn something from them, even after watching for the third or fourth time!
Thank you for all your videos! Praying for your return to health.
Thanks for sharing your story. Hope you are back up and around feeling better soon. I can't imagine what it must be like having a debilitating disease, but it appears you do make the best of what you can do. Your videos are great, educational and fun to watch.
Hope you feel better soon
As someone who also suffers from IBD (Ulcerative Colitis) it is very inspiring and motivating to hear people like you and Mr. Beast talk openly about your struggles with the disease and helps make the mental strain more manageable. Sending love and healing thoughts your way.
To Thomas and Jeff, I can second this. Sending this comment from the toilet right now during a UC flare that I got since the beginning of the year. Luckily for us UCers, we can be „healed“ by the colostomy. Jeff‘s CD also stretches far beyond the colon, probably into the smaller intestine as well. That can’t be removed :(
@@fg3ify I've been having one since July. It really sucks the whole time. I seem to be getting better in that i feel a lot better than a few weeks ago but i seem to be kinda plateaued. Hate being tired and feeling bad all the time and unable to eat anything particularly tasty. :/
I don't know how I could sustain myself for as long as you have. I've lost so much mass, i think i would die if it went on that long.
Ever since my brother got ulcerative colitis a year ago, I keep on finding out all my favorite creators have it
@@fg3ify Also last year I found out I can get severe inflammation inside my gums, lips, and tongue... those ain't fun to remove either ;)
As someone who suffers from an invisible disability, I feel this in my core. Take care of yourself and be as well as you can. Hug your family tight.
💕💕💕💕 sending you healing thoughts and vibes and hoping you feel better soon.
I hope things settle down and you feel better soon Jeff. As much as I love watching and look forward to your videos I completely understand that you need to take more time for yourself and your health. We will be thinking of you!
Take care Jeff!
As someone with Crohn's disease, I know the feeling, and while it doesn't seems to be as bad as you, it's been kicking my ass too!
I'm constantly bloated, have intestinal blocages, frequent migraines, nausea, bleeding and I'm tired all the time, to the point, I can hardly get out of bed.
If you ever need someone to talk to, who can relate, don't hesitate to reach out.
Oh man, hope you can find a way to get into remission-and stay there a while! And always consider finding another GI for a second opinion. That's how I found out about one drug that was newish at the time and got me through college in total remission!
@@JeffGeerling Thanks man, I really appreciate it!
I switched GI around 2 years ago, after constantly changing medications.
We are going through everything, again, trying different things.
My remaining symptoms might be due to having IBS, in addition to Crohn's, but nothing is definitive right now.
I'm trying rectal manometry for a couple of weeks/months, and I hope, it'll help us figure what's going wrong!
I hope you'll find the right treatment for you.
You're a big inspiration for fans of OSS, Ansible, Clusters, and SBCs. I'm glad I found your channel.
Sometimes I randomly bump into a comment of yours while on a github issue rabbit hole and it always makes me smile.
Get well soon.
Hope you feel better and have a speedy recovery! My best wishes and prayers. Always loved your every video. Brilliant content.
I'm praying for you, your family, and the doctors taking care of you. God bless you!
My wife has Chron’s. My sympathies to you and your wife. Life with chronic illnesses and being a care giver are both challenging i their own way. I am happy you have support!
I have really enjoyed your content, and i hope things get better for you soon. Get well soon jeff.
Love ya man. Hope your recovery goes quick and your health stabilizes. Take care of you..
Thanks Jeff for sharing your Crohns. As a fellow sufferer it is great for someone to be sharing just how debilitating this disease can be. I am personally in a really great spot with my illness but obviously understand what it is like. I hope you can get it back under control soon.
Cheering for you, Jeff. My dad survived colon cancer five years ago, and half his colon was removed. He lived with an ostomy bag for a couple of years before they reversed it. While he made the best of it, and I'm sure you do too, I can only imagine the added issues with Crohn's. Stay safe, get healthy, we'll be waiting for you.
Don't worry about us, mate. We'll be here, patiently waiting for the next video to grace our feeds, whether it takes a week, a month, or even a year. Take care of yourself first. A happy and healthy Jeff is the best Jeff. Even if you have to go radio-silent for a bit, we've got your back, my guy. Wishing you the best!!
So much love to you Jeff. You’re in my thoughts! Thanks for all you do.
Praying for you, Jeff. Hope you start feeling better soon. Love watching your videos. 👍
Thank you so much for all your work, it's been so inspiring! I really hope you get better very soon, and keep enjoying time with your family and friends.
Jeff, please take your time! Your community will wait for you! I'm looking forward to every video you make, it's always my first click on the YT start page if you uploaded, but please don't rush anything. If it takes a week longer, or a month longer or however much time you need, please take it for you! I'll start my first real job in October, and I'm looking forward to supporting you on patreon, no matter how many videos you get done. Giving you a virtual hug mate ☺
Hey Jeff, really sorry to hear about your health woes. I really enjoy your videos, I hope you feel better soon and get back to doing the things you enjoy most.
I've also got Crohns Disease sir.. . and amazing you are so open with having an ostomy!
i always thought about 'being open' but just feel like people dont understand..
Death knocked on the door a few times... I absolutely know what you are feeling..
Keep your head up Humira has worked wonders for me over past few years
It saddens me to see you like this Jeff. I hope that you'll be feeling better soon and that the Chrohn inflammations keep away a long time.
One of my best buds is graduating from engineering school this year with a very similar situation. He’s a major source of inspiration for myself and those around him. feel better jeff - love your channel and as an it professional, i learn so much fun info from it.
Sorry to hear you have been unwell Jeff. I love that you share about your IBD and that you are raising awareness but also just being real. Im also battling Autoimmune diseases and know how hard it can be. Love your content. Thanks for everything you do on youtube. Hope you are feeling better soon
I have ulcerative colitis and wish you the best. Sometimes these autoimmune disease are really hard.
Sorry to hear that man, I've worked with a lot of Crohn's patients in my Specialty Pharmacy days and it can be debilitating. Here's hopin you get better soon, get all the rest you need!
Dude, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. That's such a bummer and I'm so glad to see your spirits are still great! My thoughts are with you and your family and I wish you all the best. Thanks for all your great content but like others have said take care of you.
Best of luck, so sorry you're going through this and have to live with this. You have great content, keep it up at a safe and sane pace!
Jeff, hang in there. My sister has Crohn's Disease. They haven't taken out her colon, but it was really bad for a while. They finally found a drug that is working for her. Love your videos. Waiting for the next one. I have a raspberry pi and started a streaming company partially because of you. I am praying for you.
Fellow Crohnie here going on 17 years. The amount of quality content you put out has always impressed me, but hearing you're doing it while also raising a family AND dealing with crohn's? That is simply incredible!
Fingers crossed this flare passes quickly and you get some lasting remission on the other side!
Sorry you’ve had such a rough time - all the very to you from the UK 👍
Love your content bro! Praying for a full recovery.
As another with Crohns, I feel you. Infliximab and other meds help a little but it's still a struggle. Keep your head up.
Love the stuff you make, really sorry to hear about the health complications :(
Jeff!! Your stoicism and courage humble me!
My prayers for your good health!

Feel better soon Jeff. I am always on the lookout for your new videos. God Bless.
I really hope you get well soon. I imagine how difficult it must be. Keep up the faith. Good thing you have someone on your side to help, these heroes called wives. All the best. We’ll be here when you’re better. Don’t worry. Keep being awesome.
Jeff, I appreciate your candor with your experience with chronic illness. I struggle with some of it myself, but it pales in comparison to my SO's issues. I understand the struggle and dissatisfaction that comes from being someone who's interested in doing many things and has so many great ideas, but cannot muster the energy to execute them due to health issues.
Jeff, thank you for being honest about your illness. We will keep you in our prayers. I hope you get well soon. Thank you for a brilliant channel. (One of the best there is about IT.) Keep well and look after yourself!
Jeff man I really Hope you get better. I know someone else with the same thing and I see how it takes a lot out of him. I wish you speedy recovery my friend.
Hi Jeff, My wife was also diagnosed with Crohn's disease, so I totally understand what you are going through. Like many others said in the comments before me, health/family comes first. Hope you get better soon, and they find the correct medication (cocktail)to calm things down. Take it easy!
Sending good vibes, hope you get everything under control ASAP.
hope you can feel better soon and thanks for the updates. im glad you give time with your family since that is very important too!
Jeff- My mom has struggled with Crohns for years, before they even knew what it was. Totally understand your struggle, and I hope you get it under control!
Good choice, prioritize your health! And get well soon ❤️
Jeff - I have only started watching your channel this year but you are what UA-cam needs! I learn so much from everyone of your videos. Were not going anywhere, take your time and get healed up. I have a whole archive of your videos to watch so Ill keep that algo busy!
Hi Jeff. Sorry to hear about your condition, all the best from NZ.
Health comes first! Don’t over do it! We’ll be here to watch when your well again. Feel better soon buddy!
I know this stuff is rough; I had a temporary colostomy due to a perforated colon & diverticulitis which almost killed me (complicated with Sepsis.) I grok the pain and exhaustion. You do what's best for you and your family. Lots of love from [ near ] Oxford, UK.
That whole situation really sucks :/ I'm sorry that you have to deal with it and I hope you feel better! I'm also glad that you're prioritizing the time with your family.
Hope you're feeling better ASAP. Really enjoy the videos even if I don't always watch regularly.
Mad respect to you, Jeff! I don't know how you manage crohn's (tempted to make a crond joke) and everything else... it's inspirational. I hope you start feeling better soon and we'll still be around when you have the health and time to get us back in front of the screen.
Jeff, stay strong my friend. I'm sending my good wishes your way, and would also like to mention that those closest to someone suffering long term, yet invisible conditions, need some love too. Natalie, you are a saint, stay strong too. I hope you understand my meaning here? Together, you'll both pull through this.
No need to stress yourselves right now over making content. Health comes first, so whatever and whenever is fine with me.
Feel better!!!! Absolutely love watching your videos!
Take care of yourself Jeff, love your projects and videos -You are a true inspiration! I rarely comment, but this one really touched me. Prayers to you, your family and for a speedy recovery!
Oh man i wish you the best for the future!
I’m sorry to hear you are unwell. I have crohns sister illness, UC, so I understand a bit of what you are going through. I hope you take as much time as you need to get through this flare up. I love your channel!
I pray that you will get everything under control. Keep fighting the good fight and keep your chin up. May God bless you and your family.
Take all the time you need, Jeff! Wishing you a speedy recovery, man 🙂
Sorry to hear that you are suffering from this. Hope you recover soon.
I sincerely pray and hope you get well and be victorious with that Jeff. I truly admire and follow your works. I look up to you! You're such a brilliant guy, a UNICORN! Be strong bro, you can get through that!
So sad you being sick!! 😞
I love your videos and all thatś in them, keep the good work, I hope you will be better soon!
We (the audience) always come second to your health (and family)
Though considering how hot it is here seeing you under all those blankets made me feel rather warm
Jeff, I suffer from Colitis so, I can empathise with you, people don't realise the full extent of the impact IBD has on your life until they live it first hand. A few years back I had a flare-up which lasted for over six months without a day of remission, I was in Hospital seriously ill and almost died. I wish you all the very best for the future.
Very sorry to hear about your health problems. I had bowel cancer 8 years ago so have experienced a little of what you go through and it was tough. Hope things settles down for you. I always look forward to seeing your videos so will head over to your engineering channel asap. Take care.
Thanks for even keeping us in the loop, do what you gotta do. I'll always appreciate when you do share your knowledge with us, but I certainly don't expect it to take precedence over your health. Best wishes to you!
Get well Jeff! Thank you for all your work.
All the best my friend! I have several chronic conditions and have had my own time in bed watching Scott Manley so I can empathize to a certain degree. Health and family come first so you can be there for them. So many of us appreciate your videos, but more so the person making them. Be well!
Really hope you get well. Most of your videos are over my head, but you're entertaining and the things you do are truly amazing and that's why I watch. Wish I had a fraction of your know-how.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
I wonder how you even were able to produce with the pace you did in the past while having the disease. Must be VERY inspiring to people suffering the same sickness. I hope you will get better over time and you'll be able to enjoy your family time again. Get well, health first.
Get well soon Jeff. We will be here when you feel better but thanks for sharing, it is good to know what is going on behind the scenes.
Jeff, I hope you feel much better soon!! Apart from just enjoying all your content, I’ve learned a lot from it. Your book & videos about Ansible were the best tutorials & Ansible is now an essential spanner in my kit. All the best & enjoy binging on Scott!!
We're all here with you, you got this! Get well soon no rush to make anything!
Get well soon, really appreciate what you create.
The outpouring of support in these comments is incredible, my wife and I are tearing up! 🥹
I'm not able to keep up with comments today (right now we're trying to figure out why walking hurts, yay), but thanks for your patience. I'm amazed most especially by how many of you *also* suffer through IBS, IBD, or other autoimmune diseases. You are an inspiration to me!
See you soon!
